chapter 6: Haunting remnants

524 Words
I woke up the next day to the sun casting a soft glow into my room and the sweet aroma of scrambled eggs and bacon from the kitchen, just like mom used to cook them is she here? I quickly rushed out of my bed stumbling and carelessly almost falling on the floor head first but that did not matter to me. My mother was here a voice kept yelling in my head and it became louder and more dominant with each second I dragged myself. I quickly went down the stairs almost skidding through smiling from ear to ear to and halted at a sight I had not seen in a while and was missing. I hadn't realized this till now I was in a chokehold. My eyes became glassy almost like I was about to cry and I was this was the most beautiful thing in my life with no doubt. There standing in the middle of the kitchen was my mother with my father holding her from behind a small smile adorning his face. That man was serious and deadly when it came to his job but was all soft and a big cuddle bear to his family. My mother especially l, the soft look he had in his eyes and the smile adorning his lips. Something simple yet had a lot of meaning to both of them and my little heart. The way he was clutching to my mother's waist as if he did not want to let go as if his whole life depended on that very person. Mom on the other hand was trying desperately to get herself out of his grasp to serve breakfast but dad would not budge I mean mom did not stand a chance against his strength and she knew this but was relentless all the less. I don't blame him though that girl is a f*****g gem I wouldn't dare let go if I was in his place. "Morning love birds. Eew you guys are gross don't you remember I still live under this roof the last time I checked I was still a minor under your care so cut the crappy stuff before you feed my eyes unwanted scenes ". I said while entering the kitchen smiling and serving myself breakfast. Dab reluctantly left mom's waist but not before squeezing it and giving her a peck on the cheek and a wink and sat down to eat. Mom on the other hand was left all bothered and her cheeks flushed a deep crimson red she had no need for a blush. I rolled my eyes playfully at them and chuckled to myself as I served the breakfast. I enjoyed the sweet aroma of mom's food which always makes my mouth water. I mean it's my mom's food. She passed me the hot honey that makes the food tantalizing it was to top on everything making the food heavenly on my lips and tongue. Taking my fork I dug in to the food. As I was about to put it in to my mouth, I heard a voice that I dreaded so much.
