The Reality

Adella wasn’t sure how long she was there, remembering things, even small things. She thought about her parents, her son and remembered his giggle. If she went back there they surely would never let her return. She wasn’t even sure how to find them if she did go back. Soon the tears dried up and the guilt over what has been lost subsided. Truth be told, here is where she belonged. God has a plan for her and this is part of it. Maybe it is just time she knows who she is. As the sun began to dip into the horizon she slid in the water to make her way back to where she belongs with Baron. Her heart skipped a beat thinking of him as she slid through the water as fast as she could. She could tell he was worried about her, sense it somehow. She approached the beach and found him sitting there against a rock dozing off. She found a rock to pull herself up on and sat watching her fin turn into her legs. It felt funny to her, tingly. She noticed the deep scar on her fin from the squid and wondered why she didn’t have it on her legs. Soon it faded into her peach skin and she stood up on the rocks and nimbly made her way over to her mate, she smiled at the word. That was what she had called Kai and Talia before. Baron was her mate, he was made perfectly for her. She jumped down on the beach and slowly walked over to him. He was so handsome, his hair hung over his face. “Hey.” She said gently as he woke him up. He opened his eyes and she see they were bloodshot from tears. He took a deep ragged breath in and wrapped his arm around her pulling her close. She straddled him as he did. “I was so scared I lost you.” Tears welled up again but he held them back as she looked at him. “I am sorry. I didn’t know what to do. I was scared and all these memories came flooding back to me all at once.” Her arms his neck loosened and looked back at her. “This is where I belong, with my mate.” She copped his face in her hands and slowly grinded down against him. “I am yours and yours alone.” She could feel him getting aroused. She kissed him lightly at first and then bit his lower lips just enough to make him groan. He was warm as he entered her, slow and deep holding there as he pulsed into her as deep as possible. Quick as lightening she was on her back and he leaned over her. Something changed in his eyes, a wild look. She had seen a few times, but this time was more obvious for some reason. He caught one leg in his arm and pushed himself all the way. “YOU. ARE. MINE.” He pounded her with each word. He could feel her gush all over him, she loved his possessiveness. He began f*****g her hard, like he could not get it in far enough. Suddenly she was on her knees and he was holding her hips has he slammed back into her, making her gasp. This had not happened before. Suddenly she felt her hair pul and she looking up into the dark sky. “Who do you belong to?” He asked horsely. “You.” He pounded her harder than he every had before, the mixture of pleasure and pain was a turn on for her. “I. BELONG.TO.MY.MATE.” She screamed and he pounded her harder with each word. Suddenly from the depths of her body jolts over took her. She sat up on her knees and reached back grabbing his hair, wanting to return the pain he was delivering. A scream left her body that she had never heard before, her p***y gushed, her breath was gone, her head was spinning. He continued to pound her, pulling her hair and reaching around and taking her c**t in his fingers and pushing hard. She began to almost go into convulsions as she climaxed. “BARRRROOOOON.” Was the only word that came to her. They both fell to the sand breathless. He had never felt those things before, it was like he was feeling what she was feeling. The darkness gave way to a chill in the air and he stood up, picked her up from the sand. She was still shaking. He carried back to where they had set up camp. Maybe they would stay here. If anyone ever came for her she could escape. He gently laid her down and she fell fast asleep. He sat there for a long time looking at her. The fire light dancing all around her. She was a mermaid. He supposed it made sense now that he sees her as that. Her larger than normal eyes, the color of hair. She looks a lot like the descriptions he has read about. Fishing boats talked a lot of mermaids and the luck or destruction they can bestow on people. He stoked the fire and ate some boiled eggs and bread. He almost laughed out loud; SHE was the reason his chickens made more eggs than they needed. She is taking care of them in that way. He was going to have to tell her the truth about himself. He wondered how to approach it. He curled up next to her and held her close. She needed to work through her own things first. He slowly faded off to sleep so happy she came back to him. The next morning he woke up to an empty bed. He sat up quickly and then realized she was out feeding the chickens. He heard the chickens happily clucking at her. He stepped outside and the sunrise on horizon filled up this empty valley like flames in a fire pit. The sunlight was dancing off the dew on the grass, he heard the ocean spilling onto the beach below. He knew it was the perfect place to settle down. Adella stopped what she was doing and looked at him looking all around him “It’s very nice here.” She put away her chicken feed and proceeded to collect the eggs they needed for breakfast. She was nervous about talking with him. This morning she wasn’t sure if he f****d her like that out of anger or desperation. She hurt today. He felt her feelings. She was nervous about something. “I think we should stay here. Build something permanent.” She didn’t look up at him like she usually did. “What do you think?” She turned away from him afraid he was going to see her tears. He could see her shoulders shaking. “Hey, what is wrong?” He was next to her and put a hand on her lower back. She responded with silence as she tried to hold her tears and her fears in but the ragged breath she took gave her away. She felt his arms fall around her and she leaned into his chest and just let the tears falls. She wasn’t sure how long they stood there but he never moved. Finally she knew she had to tell him “I had a family.” She whispered. She felt his chest fill with air and with the exhale he squeezed her closer. “What kind of family?” He finally asked. “I have a son.” She felt something through the bond, something she could not put her finger on. “Oh.” He didn’t know what else to say, he was suddenly busy calming his wolf down. “And a husband?” “No, falling in love is not part of who we are as merpeople. We are partnered up based on genetics to better our community.” A wave of relief flowed through the bond. A long silence followed and as if she could tell what he was thinking she said “I cannot go back. First I couldn’t bring you and second I don’t think I could find them even if I wanted to. I am dead to them, I will just stay dead.” “Oh thank the good Lord.” Baron expressed his relief and hugged even closer. “I am standing here wondering how long I can hold my breath for and wondering how long I would survive. “ He made a joke and she let out a laugh and stepped back from him. “What do you think of staying here?” He asked trying to change the subject, there was only a future of them together in his mind. “I love it.” “Very well then, I shall start making a permanent home for us here.” He looked over the ocean. “You will be close enough to the ocean that you can go for a swim whenever you want. And it’s a great escape plan for you at least. This area is easy to fortify.” They began to make plans and talked about where this and that could be. They were going to start with a new cabin and then a nice horse enclosure. The other animals never wanted to leave anyway. There was a creek close by for fishing and washing. Several weeks of cutting trees and hauling them to the cabin, Adella skinned them and readied them for building. Finally they had enough to start building. Wood, sod, wood, sod the walls went up. A hearth was build with mud and rocks. Baron had the door pointing south as the winds from the north can be cold. The sod roof went on and it suddenly felt like a home. Adella had build a table, a counter, a new bed that was bit bigger. Baron argued and said he liked sleeping on top of her but she got her way. She hung her pots from the wall like they were at the Abby. Baron wanted her to let her color go back to normal. She didn’t need to hide anymore. Besides there was no one around them. Baron made a barrel to catch rain water to water the animals a bit better. He had seen all that build in Rome. He was training Adella to fight to protect herself if he ever needed to leave. She was learning the sword but she was a natural at the bow and arrow. She caught them all kinds of game, food was not something that was struggle. She often went fishing for them and would bring back larger fish than the ones that lived near the shore. It wasn’t his favorite thing but he wouldn’t always be able to protect her. After a few months it was time. It was time to tell her the truth. His wolf was pushing him. They were out tending to the horses together as the sunset when Baron grabbed her hand and pulled her over to a bench she had made. “We need to talk. I have something I need to tell you.”
