John glanced at his watch. It would be dark in a little over an hour. Time to think about what he was going to eat. He went into the kitchen and rustled through his stores, looking for something to heat up for his evening meal. He was distracted from his search by the same swarming sound he’d heard earlier. He stopped and listened. It seemed to be getting louder. It wasn’t loud enough to be a helicopter but, whatever it was, it definitely wasn’t natural. He stopped thinking about eating and grabbed his rifle, making sure there was a round in the chamber. Then he slipped a couple of loaded magazines into his pocket and went to investigate.
