A glimpse of heaven for a devil.

I let myself sleep in, since it’s Sunday, and after such a wonderful night, I had plenty to dream about. I slip out of bed, throwing a look at my phone as I pass it, I shake my head whatever it is, I’m not ready to read it. I’m about to leave the room, when I stop and look back, Brody’s got me scared to check my phone? f**k no. I turn around, storming back to my bag, picking it up the screen flashes, 2 new msgs. The first reads: ‘SUPER SAVING 60-70% ALL In-STORE ITEMS.’ I shake my head, 1 down. I go back to look at the next one. Sure enough Unknown number. “Dearest Ivy, Hope you’re doing well, and you got my last text. I’m eagerly awaiting your visit. From Daddy xx’   I had, had enough of his bugging, so I decided to reply.   ‘Dear Daddy dearest, I have 2 years and I plan to wait all of it, till I’ll visit you. Till then…F**K OFF! Ivy x’   I blocked the number. I’ve had enough, deciding to head downstairs, I’m sure after getting some junk food, then watching a One piece marathon, I’d be in a much better mood.     Monday Garrett picked me up, when we got to school, I think everyone knew something had changed between us, we strolled through the parking lot joined at the hip, Garrett's arm around my shoulders. Week in week out, we got closer, Garrett and I go on a few more dates, we went to a concert, to the beach, a night out for dinner at a fancy restaurant and my favourite was a weekend away camping in the next town over, by a beautiful creek. I'd loved fishing, cooking over the fire, sleeping out in the open, under a mosquito net of course. I'd always dreamed of having a boyfriend, I never have thought my first one would be so perfect Finally the last week of the term 2, rolls around and things couldn’t be better. I hadn't received anymore texts from Brody, and the weeks had flow by with Garrett, I always felt like a princess with him.  I hoped it would last forever, but that wasn't to be. My last class for the day ended, I was one of this first out the door but it wasn’t Garrett waiting for me. But Mitch was, What the hell did he want? “Hey Ivy, looking good.” He winks, god he was sleazy. “Hey Mitch, how can I help you?”  I reply, he couldn’t damper my day. “Walk with me, I have something private to disclose.” He continues, gesturing me to follow him.  I shrug, I wondered where Garrett was? Mitch was heading towards the parking lot, Garrett probably just running late, I'd find him there somewhere. We stop outside, off to the side of the top of steps, no ones stops, I watch as they pass looking for Garrett, Mitch sees me looking. “He’s in the car, I said I’d go collect you, so he could turn the heaters on.” Mitch fills in, I stop looking and turn to him. “Ok will then, what did you want to disclose' to me?” I huff. “Well it’s about time you come clean with Garrett, He knows.” Mitch leans in, I can’t help but stare, knows what? I was suddenly feeling unsure. “Knows what? ” I ask, not really wanting to know the answer, “That you’re a werewolf, of course.” He snorts. “I’m not a werewolf, their not real.” I shoot back although inside I’m shuddering. “You can’t fool us, we can smell it.” Mitch says with a bored note in his voice. “We?” My eyes widen. “Yes we are rogues, werewolves who’ve left their pack.” Mitch replies, shrugging. Ok Agni hadn’t told me about rogues yet, so I just stare in fear, Garrett knows? “It won’t change how he feels about you, but now you know, you two should start preparing for either of you finding your mates, definitely worth bringing up with him in discussion and soon.” Mitch finishes; he winks as he walks away. I’m left speechless, I can do nothing as he walks away, Garrett knows? And both him and Mitch are werewolves? f**k Agni where was the heads up?! I think unconsciously following Mitch, I stop.   I stand at the bottom of the steps, I can see Mitch standing at Garrett’s car window chatting, Garrett looks 4 words from combustion. I decided that I couldn’t face him right now, So I instead jog to the bus, I’m one of the last kids on and I slink to the back to hide in the corner. I’m trying to block out all the thoughts running through my head, when I feel a hand on my shoulder, my eyes snap up meeting Lucus’s. “Hey Ivy, Are you ok?” He smiles kindly, real concern is in his eyes. I smile back, it feel nice for someone to ask. “Yeah I am, just a little overwhelmed.” I reply. “Can I help at all?” Lucus asks,   “No I don’t think so, It’s a bit out of this world.” I reply, rubbing my eyes. “Oh….So was it Mitch or Garrett?”  He continues, suddenly I look at him. “What? Why do you ask that?” I stutter back, he shrugs. “Well I knew you were a werewolf last year, when we had class together, but you were oblivious to the facts. I ask a few questions back then but you were so confused, I realised you didn't know.” He pats my hand. “So with a face like that, someone told you something, they both found out a few days after Garrett picked you up from the bus stop, I told them.”He finishes. Suddenly I feel like I’m the only one who can't recognise another werewolf, where were these inherited gifts? “How did you know?” I press suddenly unsure, Lucus was a werewolf too? Who wasn’t? “I could smell it one day, when you didn’t wear you perfume, its faint but I could smell it, are you half human?” I wasn’t sure I should confide the truth, so I shrug. “I don’t know the details, I only just found out a few months ago.” I reply. “Well its time to break off this relationship between you and Garrett.” My eyes, widen I’m about to protest, when he holds up a hand. “If you don’t, what happens when one of you finds their mate? Or if you go to different collages?” He finishes. I think back to my promise to find my dad and exact revenge, I will be leaving at the end of the year and it’s a journey Garrett can’t come on. I finally sigh, nodding to Lucus, I understand where he’s coming from. The bus pulls up at my house, he smiles sadly, I wave as I get off the bus. I checked my phone and sure enough there was a ton of msgs from Garrett, but I’m not ready to talk. I send a quick text; “Hey Garrett, I caught the bus, I thought Mitch was catching a ride with you, have some homework to catch on tonight so I’ll catch up with you tomorrow at school. Don’t worry about picking me up, I’ll catch the bus for a change. Ivy xx’   It hurt to lie, but I knew when it was time to jump ship and look to the future. It’ll hurt like hell but I’d treasure our few months together, and I envied Garrett’s True-Mate. Garrett POV I’d been waiting out side over 10 mins, I’d texted Ivy twice, finally I decided to knock on the door. Getting out of the car, I walked up to the door. As I raised his hand to knock the door swung open, an attractive older woman opened the door, this must be Ivy’s mum, her eyes are puffy and red. “Hello Mrs Sable, My names Garrett, I spoke once to you on the phone, I’m here to pick up Ivy but she’s not answering her phone this morning.”  He smiled and she looked concerned, then motioned him to wait, sniffing as she disappeared back inside, when she returned she handed him an envelope. “It was nice to meet you Garrett, Thank you for helping my daughter get through a difficult time, and teaching her about real love.” She reaches out and I give her a firm hug, I’m unsure what’s going on? Why do I feel like this is a goodbye? A past tense conversation, she leans in kissing me on the cheek, a tear slides down her cheek. “Thank you again, and good luck.” With that she smiles and she slowly shuts the door, I’m stunned and look down at the envelope. I head back towards the car, I decide I’ll head home to read it, I don’t think I’ll feel like school after opening it.
