the galaxy wolf

Zoey's POV Waking up on your twenty first birthday and not knowing what was going to happen really sucked. All my life I have been bullied and mistreated, being the only deaf one in my pack. My brother tries his hardest to protect me but with our father abusing me, life is hard. You see my father is alpha and my mother was Luna. Our pack is called Nightshade. My died when I was about three, but not in the way you would expect. We never found her body just the car in a lake. To this day we have no idea what happened to her. My father is determined to believe she is alive since she was his true mate. She left after having a really bad night with me I guess, and we never saw her again. Everyone tells me she was battling depression but my father never saw it. I was born deaf, my parents found out after I was born. I never passed the hearing test and the alpha had to deal with deaf daughter. Everyone found it as a sign of weakness thinking I would never be able to hear my wolf and bond with her. That I would be weak and unable to live as a true wolf. During my first shift I found out my wolf was mostly dark brown but had these areas of purple that made it look like a galaxy almost. After that I was determined never to show anyone my wolf, not even my father. So everyone believed I didn't have one. There's a prophecy in our pack; the one with the galaxy on them will be the strongest alpha. It has been almost unheard of to have a female alpha and male Luna. There have only been three and one was am ancestor of mine. Who also had the galaxy wolf. It seemed I was destined for great things but I couldn't let my father know. Did other packs gave similar prophecies or was ours the only one? On a wolf's twenty first birthday a wolf is able to find their mate. I have been dreading the day knowing I'm going to be rejected by whoever it is if they are in my pack. If they aren't, one they find out I'm deaf they will reject me. I can feel it. My father barges into my room like he owns the place and drags me out of bed. He speaks but I'm unable to hear him. The smell of alcohol filling my nose letting me know he was drunk and forgot I was deaf. Next thing I know he let's go and my brother is in front of me. He signs that there's an important meeting and we all have to attend. I nod and he takes out father out of the room. I get dressed in a black dress that shows off most of my curves, my auburn hair is braided on the sides with the middle falling loose. I look like one of our Norse ancestors. My pack moved from Norway back in the day when the Norse roamed the earth as vikings. Most of us have normal American names after being here for generations. 'We look good.' My wolf says from within. She has been the only voice I've been able to hear. Giving me some kind of solace in my situation. I head down after putting on my black boots and my brother smiles taking my hand. I ride in his car and father rides alone. This was normal as he tended to drive chaoticly and was drunk. Soon we were at the office which was the only building in our city with more than 3 floors. We may have a big pack but our town is small just the way I like it. The guards led us in and father led us to the meeting room. He spoke and my neither interpreted. "Be on your best behavior. And Zoey uses your implants now" I always had them in my pocket but never used them. Hearing was such a drag and I preferred silence. I put them on and could now hear my father's robotic voice. "Good keep them on. I don't want this alpha and his sons to think you are deaf." He said and I rolled my eyes. Sitting down it was only a few more moments before the alpha of our rival pack and his sons entered the room. All of a sudden the most intoxicating smell filled the room and my wolf perked up. 'Mate' My wolf, Lunar, said. I perked up and noticed the older looking son also was looking around. 'Him' lunar said again and I got up slowly. My dad put his hand on my shoulder forcing me back down. Someone spoke and I turned noticing my mate. "Get your hand off of her respectfully alpha Laurence." Speaking to my father. I looked at my father who had the most puzzled face spread across his normal expressionless face. "Ah this must be my daughter's mate. Good." He says actually releasing me and I get up again walking over to my mate. He smiles and reaches his hand out to me and I take it. Our father dismiss us and my mate takes me outside the room into another smaller office. Next thing I know his lips are on mine and we are making out. My arms reach up holding myself up by his neck and his arms reach around my waist. One hand on the small of my back sending waves through me. He stops and i know he tries to say something to me but I can't hear him. I push him back a little and decide to speak for one of the first times since I was little. "I'm sorry. I'm deaf. I have implants but it's hard to hear at times with them." I try to explain and he takes a step back letting me go. I frown and notice he does as well. "I don't know sign language. How can my mate be deaf? How can you be deaf as the daughter of an alpha? Is it true you don't have a wolf?" So he heard the rumors yet still made out with me almost tearing my clothes off. I could see him wrestling maybe with his wolf. I moved away from him to the other side of the room and sat in the chair holding my knees. He's going to reject me just like I thought. Then he's in front of me on the floor looking up. He almost looks like a lost puppy having hurt someone's feelings. "I'm sorry. Please explain." He asks though not really a request. "I'm not used to talking. Be mindful." He nods and I continue. "I have a wolf but I've told the pack I don't. We have a prophecy and I'm part of it but I don't want the pack to know. They hate me for the disappearance of our Luna. I was three but she had depression and just left one night. Nobody knows what happened. I don't want to be in this pack when they hate me even if I'm their prophecy." I tell him and he sits on the floor his hand on my leg softly. He is thinking and then looks up at me after a few minutes. "You are our mate. My wolf understands even if he won't tell me what. I know you will tell me in time. You can come stay at our pack, I have to warn you I'm the future alpha. My pack will need to know about your wolf." He says plain and fair. I know it's true and I nod he smiles and gets up running a hand through my hair. "I promise I will protect you. I'm not going to reject you, you will be my Luna Zoey Loverin" he says and I smile brightly up at him. He pulls me up engulfing me in a hug. He was bigger than me by a long shot and I enjoyed his body heat. He pulled away enough so I could see him speak. "Let's go back. They probably need us." As we walk back, hand in hand, I can't help thinking about my future. Once we get into the room his father looks angry and my father looks pleased. "You can't have a wolfless and deaf mate. Being deaf is one thing we could have worked around since in wolf form she could hear. At least that's the rumors. But being wolfless changes things son. You're the future alpha and have to have a strong mate." My mate moved in front if me. Shielding me from the words and the hurt. His hand still holding mind I could feel comfort coming from the bond. "Father you are wrong. What ever her father told you is a lie and I will be taking her with us. I can feel through our bond she's scared of him. I will not reject her because of lies and fear." I look up at my mate in tears for the only other person to defend me was my brother. But not even he knew about my wolf. I never told him. I look over at my brother who is standing tall and proud of my mate. I look over at my mates father and he speaks again. "Alex, if this is your decision fine but she must prove here and now that she has a wolf or we will not accept her as future luna" no not here. I take a step back and everyone's eyes are on me. "Go on daughter. Show them the truth." Is the only thing I hear before I run out of the room and into the forest next to our office building. I shift not caring about my clothes being torn off and keep running. My wolf taking over scared of being captured. I blacked out unsure of what happened next.
