I sat on the floor beside the bed for what felt like an eternity. I felt empty, as if someone had scooped out everything that made me who I was. I’d thought that if one day I lost my family, at least I’d have Gray. Now he was gone. How was I supposed to lead my pack now? I couldn’t even escape this place. This can’t be it. It just can’t.
My ears twitched when the sudden sounds of gunfire and howling came from the window. It was closed but I could still hear through the glass. I got up from the floor and went to take a look outside. From this side of the house, I couldn’t see what was happening.
“Damn it. What the hell is going on out there?”
The bedroom door unlocked and opened, making me turn around. It was Tony and Olivia.
“Come on, we have to move you.” Tony said urgently.
