Turning back time: The runaway Luna

Warning: Sensitive topic of child loss I was in a rush this morning. I didn't have time to have breakfast. I had a very important appointment this morning and I needed to go. I had been trying for a couple of years to get pregnant. I had 2 false pregnancies and one miscarriage that I finally have my pup. I’ve never been so excited in my life to finally have a baby but for now I have to keep to myself. I didn’t want to disappoint my mate Christian, so I have kept it from him for now until this appointment so I can bring him the ultrasound. I would be more happy if I wasn’t having these cramps and sharp pains in my stomach. I fear for my pup that I decided to go to my friend Cassie, a witch/doctor. I’m becoming paranoid that someone in the pack is deliberately trying to hurt me. I make it in record time to her office, parking in her secret parking lot for her VIP patients. I rush into the building, taking the elevator pushing the 7 button twice teleporting me to a beautiful lobby. It is very bright and natural with pastel colors and plants everywhere, giving a relaxing/calm atmosphere. The receptionist spots me and gives a warm smile. “Good morning Luna Wright, Cassie is waiting for you in room 3” the receptionist said while opening the door for me. “Ruth, please call me Anka. If you can call your boss by her first name I think you can call me by mine.” I sighed as I walk though the waiting room into the room. “It’s because your status is higher than mine.” Cassie says with a laugh as she gives me a hug. “What’s up girl? Last night you said its urgent.” Cassie leads me to the examination table. I quickly sit down dropping my bag into the nearest chair. “ I need your help. I recently found out I’m pregnant” I said looking down and touching my stomach. Cassie began squealing, clapping her hands excitedly. “FINALLY! I’m so happy for you guys! Congr...” I put my hand up, stopping her from continuing. “I have been experiencing sharp pains and I’m worried. I think someone is trying to hurt me.” My voice quivers with grief. Cassie gasp, shocked by what I revealed to her. “What? Why? You are carrying the heir, why would they want to hurt their Luna?” She asked as she quickly starts grabbing some gloves and starts moving medical equipment around. With the snap of her fingers the room transforms into an Maternity room. I lay down and lift my blouse out of the way. “I don’t know. I have a feeling it's his ex Victoria. She been wanted to get rid of me since Christian and I were fated to each other at the end of senior year of high school.” I say, while watching Cassie put the cold jelly on my stomach as the ultrasound machine turns on. “Ugh! That dumb b***h! She would never leave you alone. Ok lets see how is the pup.” She mumbled as she moved the wand over my stomach. She looked at the screen, moving the wand around searching for the pup. “Does anyone else know about the pregnancy?”Cassie asked as she began pushing buttons on the machine. “Just the pack doctor and nurse that gave me my test and first ultrasound to confirm it.” I begin to get anxious as Cassie facial expression begins to frown as she continues to work. “Anka…” she whispers. My heart drops, I begin to panic. “Cassie… Please not again.” My voice cracks as I see tears form in her eyes. Her eyes begin to glow as an orb forms on her palm. It rises and expands showing a silhouette of something small and silence. “The pup is gone honey. No heartbeat.” Tears stream down my face as I begin to sob uncontrollably. I scream, hugging my stomach as the reality comes crashing down on me. “No! Not again! My baby! My Baby!” I roll to my side as the waves of grief crash over me. Cassie hugs me tight as we sob over my loss. She was with me through everything good and bad. From the loss of both parents, finding my mate, married, my struggles with Christian’s parents, and every loss pregnancy. She knew everything happening in my life because she was the only person besides Christian I trusted in my life. “ Anka! Anka! We need to do some tests. If someone did this maybe they did the others.” Cassie gasped as she shot up, flicking her wrist as the room transformed again OBGYN equipment disappears and endless selves appear. She opens a drawer pulling out a needle and several vials putting it on a steel tray. A large cauldron appears and floats by her and she begins putting herbs and colorful fluids into it. I feel like I’m about to have a panic attack. My wolf Lyra is howling like crazy. In my mind I feel her lay down into submission as grief hits her too. Our pup! Our pup Anka! I failed to protected it again, Lyra howls. No Lyra its not your fault. It’s not our fault. We will find out what happened. Cassie will help us find out what happened to our puppies. I reassure her as I continue to watch Cassie work her magic. She moves towards me with the tray as a jars of Alcohol wipes and cotton balls float behind her. She sits on her stool as I began to roll up my sleeve to expose my arm. “We need to see first if there's anything in your system to affect your pregnancy. This potion will show us if there is something. After I will run bloodwork to find out what it is specifically. She cleaned the area with a wipe and swiftly inserted the needle into the vein filling three vials with blood. After she removed the needle and bandage the area, she took one of vails to the cauldron. Cassie began chanting a incantation as the cauldron began to glow and bubble. The wind kicked up around her as her eyes began to glow and she poured the blood into potion. As the last drop fell, purple smoke began to billow out of the pot. “Poison” Cassie gasped “Someone did poison you, killing the pup.” She quickly moved to the other side of the room opening drawer after drawer until she found the item she need. “RUTH! I need Anka’s medical record. Hack the pack records through my computer they won’t be able to trace you.” Cassie yelled as she threw some root into the pot. “Got It!” Ruth yells through the door as I hear her run to Cassie’s office. The pot again boils as the potion turns from a violet color to a wine color. “The poison seems to be a low grade. Not enough to kill you but enough to make you ill and kill the pup.” Cassie explains as blast a flash of energy into the cauldron. “Do you remember our friend from high school Michael? The wizard? He is a lab technician, he can run tests on the other vials to give as the specific type of poison and how you were ingesting it.” She snaps her fingers and the other two vials disappear into thin air. My wolf begins to paw at my mind Christian. We must tell our mate what has happened. He need to know about our loss. Lyra whimpers. I know Lyra. After we are done here we will go straight to his office. Does Shadow know what was happening? I asked Lyra as I wipe away the jelly from my stomach and rearrange my top so I can leave. Lyra whimpers “He senses our pain but he is quiet.” I sighed, Christian must be keeping him quiet. I’m slightly surprised and sad he hasn’t called me for what we felt. I am sadden at how distant we have become. “Cassie let me know any results from the tests, I need to go tell Christian.” I reached into my purse for my keys and phone. “Anka I think you should stay. We don’t know who it is yet.” Cassie quickly stands in the doorway to block me from leaving. “Christian would never hurt me. I know that we are having some rough times right now, but he is my mate.” I reassure her, pulling Cassie into a tight hug. “I’ll call you when get there and I will be very careful.” Cassie frowns, fear clearly on her face but she hesitantly moves aside. I shouted bye to Ruth and went into the elevator.
