I woke up that morning feeling really weak. What happened to me last night was so peculiar that the first thing I thought of as I gained consciousness is to question why I have lost control of my body. However, as my thought lingers at that moment, my hand immediately touches the part of my body that stings in pain — the part where he has bitten me.
It feels hot and sore and it pulsates upon my hand’s contact with the sore skin. But despite the pain and lethargy, thoughts then lingers to that moment we had last night, the moment I felt his fingers caress my skin.
It was the first time to be touched like that and I can't deny the feeling of pleasure. It's the first time I've felt excited, it was the first time I totally lost control of myself and surrender to the moment.
"Young miss, are you awake? You have a scheduled conference at the company today. You need to be there in 45 minutes." Thomas called, knocking at my door.
I chuckled at how he addresses me while I try to pull myself up. No matter how many times I tell him to just call me by my first name, he still prefers to call me with that title and the irony within it still makes me chuckle on my own. He knows I'm much older than anyone else who exists in this time of their lives.
"I'm awake... give me a few minutes" I answered as I tried to sit up.
I went to the bathroom and cleaned myself through a quick shower. I hissed at the first contact of the warm water upon my wound. As I was drying myself after, I walked towards the fogged up mirror upon wiping the moist off with my hand, I immediately noticed the bite he left on my neck.
The way he looked at me; from the piercing crimson orbs to the soul gazing dark brown eyes, the way he softly caresses my skin as if it were silk upon his hands, the way his lips moves and how his tongue danced with mine, the taste of his lips with a hint of my blood.
It all felt good.
Without realizing, I was staring at that mark on my neck while biting my lower lip, dazed by the thoughts of him.
He was unearthly beautiful. I noticed that immediately but never paid to much attention to it but now that I think about him deeply, he was gorgeous — his raven hair pushed back was neat and clean which is so unlikely for an earthly demon if he really is an earthly demon who took human form. He had beautiful chocolate-colored orbs that seem to peer in my soul and see my desires, that prominent nose that and those soft lips that I was able to taste. He had such a well-built body I have felt when I embraced him last night, those hard muscles on his upper body, that towering height… All of it was attractive. Plus, I now find his arrogance charming as my thoughts went back to that moment we met.
However, just as I was starting to daydream, I realized what thoughts had become.
"You shouldn't be lusting over someone like him Rosé. He's a demon." I told myself as closed my eyes and concentrate on getting him out of my head and start focusing on the important things — finding the boy and turn him good.
But as soon as I open my eyes, I jump and gasped at the same time while turning around. I saw Jacob standing behind me with his glowing crimson eyes staring back at me with his evil grin. I couldn't breathe out of surprise, but after I turned, he wasn’t there.
I let out a sigh of relief as I clutch my chest with one hand.
How can I daydream about him and feel afraid of him at the same time?
But, is this really fear?
Last night, I was terrified that he'll do something to me, that it'll be my end. Those crimson orbs are of pure evil but when it warped to those dark brown, gentle eyes, I felt something I couldn’t explain.
It was calling for me.
Frustrated with having no idea what I've gotten myself into as I have invited a monster in my home and endangered my people who live here, I closed my eyes for a prayer...
Everything that has happened and will happen has a purpose.
"I don't know what you are planning, Father. But please give me strength. If you sent him to me as a part of my mission, please give me patience, courage, and strength to handle him. Please guide me every step of the way, with every decision I make."
Prayer has always been a resort for me whenever I feel frustrated. I know I won’t be hearing His Voice again but I cannot lose hope.
I fixed myself and got ready to leave. As I went down the stairs, I was greeted by Thomas holding a pack of a sandwich. I always wake up early to prepare for work but only today I have slept in and I missed having breakfast.
"You look pale, young miss. Were you not able to sleep last night?" He asked, looking concerned.
"No, I'm just not feeling well. Does our guest still slumber?" I asked, feeling the side of my neck once again.
"He left early, miss..." he answered politely.
"Did he say where he's going?"
"I'm afraid not..." the old man shook his head before bowing.
This is bad. I should find him or he might feed on someone else.
I asked a few of my security team to find him, advising them that the guy we're after is not a regular human being, that they need to be extra cautious once they found him. Everyone in the household knows what I am and they and their family have protected me for generations.
I went straight to the company and arrived on time for the conference meeting. After it's done, I have left that room, sitting at the edge of the table, preparing my things so I could begin my search for him.
If he's part of the mission, then, I need to keep my eye on him as well.
All of a sudden, I felt a presence again...
Gabriel.
"What are you doing, Raziel?" He asked. I quickly turned and looked at the glass panel window and I saw him through the reflection, looking from behind me. He's wearing a black suit and tie and now, he had completely hidden his wings.
"Gabriel..." I muttered his name, a bit surprised.
"Have you had any idea who you took home?" He asked in a nonchalant, calm way as he lifts his head and looks at me before slowly walking towards me. He gently caresses my cheek with the back of his forefinger.
"You look pale..." he whispers, studying my face.
"I'm fine Gabriel, what do you know of him?" I asked looking up to him.
"I just know he's a demon, Michael knows him as the chosen son of Lucifer, but no one knows his name… None of us knows his name," he replied, brows furrowing as he speaks. He then gently slide his forefinger down to my jaw until he was able to push back the hair that covers my neck.
"He feeds off you?” His eyes squinted with his question. “You should have not let him." He added, staring at the wound on my neck.
"I couldn't do anything. I was caught off-guard and... I-I was powerless..." I answered stammering, looking away from him. I started to tremble all of a sudden with the thought of his eyes, those crimsons. I didn't notice this before but, is this out of fear?
"You were afraid." He whispers.
"I don't know," I replied, feeling my heart race.
"Fear is good, for, without fear, you will not gain courage... He will not stop feeding on you, Raziel. Kill the demon before he tries to kill you. But, spare his life? He'll ruin you forever." He said in an undertone with his deep voice but I could feel from his warning, that that guy is not just an ordinary demon.
Lucifer’s son? What kind of demon is he for him to feed on the living?
"Then, help me... please." I pleaded, looking back at his dark brown eyes that soon glow briefly, revealing those sapphire orbs.
"As much as I wanted to, it's your mission, not mine..." he sighs.
"So he's really a part of the mission?" I asked in disbelief. That guy will be the hindrance.
Is the demon tasked to find the boy?
"He wants me to give you this." He muttered as he took out a golden dagger from behind his back and handed it over to me.
I've never seen such a beautiful weapon. But it looked unused as if it’s not a weapon at all, not a single scratch on it. All elected angels, even the arcs had their own daggers and hollowed weapons. This one is unlike any other weapon I've ever seen. It has intricate details yet its simplicity makes it so beautiful.
"It's a gift from our Father. He may want you to have this so you could defend yourself against any demon that will hinder your mission..." He stated softly.
As soon as I was able to hold it, he then steps back, "Be strong Raziel for He is with you."
Suddenly, there were a few knocks on the door and I jump slightly in surprise. I hastened towards it and opened it slightly revealing my assistant who the peeks in through.
"Excuse me, Ms. Richards, a man is here to see you. He's at your office right now." She stated.
"I'll be right there," I replied. I closed the door gently then I turn to Gabriel but he's already gone.
"You have two more days. Keep the boy safe." Gabriel’s voice then echoes in my head until his aura vanishes completely.
After fixing up my stuff, I hid the dagger in the golden dagger in my bag and headed towards my office. As soon as I opened the door, the sight of this being sent shivers to my body despite keeping his human form. He was exuding an eerie, malevolence aura that took me by surprise. All of the events last night came to me as soon as I saw his form. Then, I started trembling again.
"Jacob." I gasped.
He was sitting at my seat and was looking down at a photo that was resting on my table. Then, he slowly turns up his gaze at me.
"Did I interrupt your meeting with your friend?" He smirked as he put the frame down the frame. Despite the sudden surge of fear, I stepped inside the office and close the door. I tried to manage my breathing since my heart goes off beating loudly in fear and it affects every breath I take. But I have to face him, no other person can face him but me.
"I thought you're an ordinary human at first, nothing special. But then, here you are, having a weapon no human could've ever possess and even meeting with an archangel... You're keeping me interested." He says before chuckling, keeping an evil grin upon his lips.
But he suddenly scowled as he stood up from his seat then walks toward me.
"I'm sure he warned you about me, didn't he?" I asked, feeling as if every step he takes towards me is a stump.
"Why are you here, Jacob?" I didn't know what to say or ask, I was caught off-guard at the moment and didn't even feel the evil presence until now that he's here in front of me. But I couldn’t. Knowing that this being is my rival makes me anxious.
If I could take a step back, I would but the door was already behind me and he kept advancing until he stopped right in front of me. I was looking at his eyes the whole time and I couldn't keep my gaze away from those eyes.
Is this what really fear does? Does fear make you look directly on who you're afraid of?
He then leaned close before pinning me to the door with both his hands caging me as he leaned on it. Once his head leveled with mine and his lips were a few inches away from my lips, he whispers forbiddingly,
"I'm here to kill your guardian angel."
