I took Eli out for a nice day out. But he had wanted to bring Reid along with us.
In the last couple of weeks, they definitely become close, and as much as I hated Reid, I liked that Elias enjoyed his time with him.
We arrive at the small ice cream place that Eli was obsessed with.
I don't take him here often, but his eyes light up like a boy on Christmas morning when I can.
"Can we get some chocolate chip mint?" He asked.
Before I could answer, Reid picked Eli up. "Come on, buddy, let's get all the flavours," and left without letting me tell them no.
I sighed and took a seat at one of the seats nearby. I sat there on my phone and waited for them to come back with the ice creams.
"Anna?" I looked up to see someone waving at me.
I glanced at them and recognized her as one of my old college friends.
I mean, technically, she wasn't my friend but more like I tolerate her. She had always wanted to be better than everyone else. And half of the time, I was only nice. I was just glad that I never got on her wrong side.
I waved at her, putting on the most fakest smile as she made her way to the table I was sitting.
I got up and hugged her. "It's good to see you, Em,"
It really wasn't, but here we are.
"It's good to see you as well," she smiled.
"Come one sit,"
"No, no, I have to get going. But I haven't seen you in forever. How have you been?"
"Good, I actually am a mom now. My sons there with his father," I pointed at the counter where they were standing.
"Ya, didn't you get married young too?" She asked.
When I married Reid, I was only 19 years old. I was still in college at that point. After I married him, I still went to college and finished my studies, but I hadn't told anyone I was married.
But the rumours started on their own.
There no point in denying it now. It was the truth.
I nod my head.
"Well, I'm engaged," she reached her hand and showed me her ring.
"Oh, my gosh, congratulations. It's so beautiful," I said excitedly.
"Ya, we've been dating forever before he popped the question," she giggled.
I smiled at her telling her how beautiful her ring was. It truly was a gorgeous ring, and from her, I didn't expect any less than the ring she was wearing.
"Mommy look at what I got," Eli jumped up and down, taking my attention away from Em and to my son.
"Yay, that's great, little prince. Now make sure not to make a mess when eating, okay?" He nodded his head and went to sit at the far end of the table.
"You're son is the cutest! What's his name?" She asked.
"Elias, but we call him Eli at times," I told her.
"He is so adorable," she said, looking over at him.
"Here I got you cookie dough," Reid interrupted us, handing me a cup of cookie dough ice cream.
I took it for him and set it on the table. "Thanks," I said.
He nods his head and notices Emma in front of him. "Who is this?" He asked with a smirk on his face.
"Hi! I'm Emma. Anna and I used to go to college together," she introduced herself to him.
"You never told me there were pretty girls at college Anna. Maybe I should of went too," he said with his charming smile.
Emma smiled at him, giggling. "Oh, your husband is a charmer, isn't he?" She said, her eyes all over him.
"Oh, you have no idea," I rolled my eyes.
I watched as they talked and laughed together and I, for some reason, felt this uncomfortable feeling in the pits of my stomach.
It's not as if I should be mad at this. But she was flirting with him while she was engaged to another.
I remember in college how Emma always went for the guys that were already in a relationship. She likes the idea of stealing another women's man because she always thought of herself as better.
This was one of the many reasons I couldn't stand her.
But now that I think of it, she was exactly Reid's type.
"Reid, come on!" Eli called for him from the table.
He looked over at him and immediately stopped his conversation with Emma and sat down with him.
"Your son call you Reid?" She questioned.
"Ya, it's a force of habit," I lied. She didn't need to know our family situation.
She nodded her head. "Well, I probably should get going. It was nice seeing you, Anna," she said.
I smiled.
"Bye, Reid," she waved at him with her eyes batting.
Reid politely said bye as she left and focused his attention on Eli.
"Your friend is nice," he smirked.
"Definitely," I said, my tone filled with sarcasm.
He chuckles. "Well, I liked her,"
"Well, that's because she is your type," I took a spoon of ice cream and ate it.
"My type?" He raised an eyebrow.
"You know the fake type," I told him.
He opened his mouth like he was going to defend himself but stopped, realizing that I was, in fact, right.
"But that's not true. Your not fake," he said.
"Well, that's because I'm a mom, and I don't have time to be fake, and besides, you don't like me?" I said.
"That doesn't mean I don't want you," he grinned.
I scowled at him, pointing at Eli.
"What he should know he has hot mom," he shrugged his shoulder. "Buddy do you know that your mom is gorgeous," he said to Eli.
Eli looked at me and smiled. "She's beautiful," he said with his tiny voice.
"See!"
I couldn't help but c***k a smile, and the feeling of warmth returned in my chest, and I couldn't help but wonder what life would be like if every day was like this.
