CHAPTER 64 Gracie and I had been dozing in a rocking chair Reginald had bought for me as one of my many baby-shower presents. It had been a decent day. There were two times I’d had to put Gracie down in her crib and let her cry because I couldn’t keep my eyes open anymore, but at least my mental outlook was all right. Or so I thought. Like I said, I went through that period really subdued. It was the opposite of mood swings, an emotional flatline. But I was doing all right. I was almost done with my nannyless weekend, Mrs. Danvers would return first thing tomorrow morning, and all I had to do was keep my daughter warm and fed and clean until then.
