The One Who Got Away

Chapter 7

        At that moment Jake stepped out of the car and took his sunglasses off "Don't bother asking, she's already shot me down and hit me because I asked." His long legs making it to me before he even finished his sentence. I grinned and opened my arms as he embraced me in a bear hug rocking me from side to side "Damn Mommas you look good." I stepped back and did a twirl laughing, Cassidy and Jake spent many travels being with me when they could, he would tag along because it was the only way Cassidy was allowed to leave, her parents being very strict on traveling when we were younger.   

            Jake being 24 was always traveling and never told anyone were I was, they truly were my family. Even though from time to time we would flirt, and he's saved my ass from a few creepers. "God how I've missed your beautiful face." He touched my cheek and then someone cleared their throat and I turned to see it was Sam and his face looked a little irritated. "Well hello Sam." He turned and smacked my ass before walking over to Amelia and scooping her up in his arms twirling her around.

    "I see." Said Sam and I looked over at him and stared "What exactly do you see....Samuel?"

        "Enough, can I use your restroom?" I rolled my eyes and looked towards Cassidy who was coming back outside from putting her bags in the house "Are you guys staying for dinner?" I narrowed my eyes at her and glared as Sam and Jackson said together "Yes!" 

    I mouthed "I hate you so much right now." before walking around her to enter the house and show him  to the bathroom. I led him to the bathroom that was by the stairs and I went into the kitchen and peaked into the bags that Cassidy brought in to see that she had brought food and lots of it. I licked my lips as I saw my favorite Vanilla bean cheesecake from Barnes and Nobles. God I love that woman.

        I heard footsteps and turned just in time to see Sam walking into the kitchen and leaning against the wall. "Do you have a staring problem?" He shook his head and I turned around, I felt as though I was being abnormally mean to him. But I couldn't help it, he got under my skin more then anyone and it's always been like that. 

            "You ever think about being nice to me?" He spoke looking up and I shook my head and mouthed "No."

    He grinned and tapped my nose "Such a small person to be as mean as you are." 

        I went to smack him and he pulled my arm making me fall into him and just then Cassidy walked in and said "Woah, should I come back?" I looked over at her and glared pushing away from him and walking out of the house.

Dinner

After I freshened up I went back downstairs and into the kitchen were the food was finally finished and I was starving. At one point Jackson and Sam left to get beer and to check on something, I don't know I wasn't really listening. After a little trip to my room to rest for a bit I came out refreshed and ready for my day.

        Cassidy looked up at me and grinned, I smiled back. Little did she know because of her little stunt I went ahead and got payback by getting Andre's number and texting him to come over for dinner with us. Neither of the two of them knew that they were going to be together, something was up with the two of them and I was going to find out if it was the last thing I did...Well today anyway.

        Just on time the doorbell rang and I was sitting down and she looked at me and was confused "I'll get it for you." I thanked her as I pointed out the seats for everyone and looked up at Jake because he started laughing "I see what you did there." And I flipped him off "Quiet you." He grinned as Cassidy came in red faced with Andre walking in behind her and...wait was he staring at her ass right now. I looked over at Jake who shook his head and started plating somethings for himself. Cassidy made an amazing meal that included Broccoli Alfredo, Chicken, Garlic bread stuffed (Yes I said stuffed) with veggies and corn. This is one of the reasons I love her so much, Rather then just living off her families money she decided that she was going to work hard in culinary school and she opened up her own restaurant with my aunt Calissa's backing her for the loan. It had been a true success story with how far she had come.   

    "God this looks amazing." I looked down at all of the food. 

        Cassidy sat down and glared at me and I smiled at her "Oh I'm sorry, I invited Andre to join us for dinner, Andrew had to work." 

    I took a bite of chicken and closed my eyes and she kicked me under the table causing Jake to laugh spilling wine down his shirt. Everyone besides the three of us looked back and forth trying to figure out what was going on. I took a drink of juice and shoved a piece of chicken in my mouth.

        Everyone started eating and conversing about things that they have been doing, everyone was shocked to hear that Jake was just back from overseas, he was in the military so he's gone for most of the year. We learned that Jackson and Arin didn't last long, the commitment of being with a snob got to him and he just didn't want to deal with it anymore.

    Andre was now a co-CEO of a company in New York and takes trips every month to check things and make sure its running smoothly. Then it came to me and everyone wanted to know about me and I just shrugged now eating my dessert. Jake rolled his eyes "She's a tech analyst" Everyone look taken aback. Yes this was true and I was very good at what I did. I felt a hand brush against my side and I jumped and looked over at Sam who was staring at me and Cassidy spoke as everyone noticed my jump "Baby moving around." I looked at her and nodded. 

        Once we finished eating and me and Cassidy cleaned up, everyone started to depart. Well everyone but Jake and Cassidy who were going to stay and watch movies with me, or at least that is what I thought before Andre and Cassidy disappeared and then she returned her ponytail out of place and her lipstick smeared. I shook my head and sat down with Jake to start the movie.
