Chapter ten - Gala night

2376 Words
Chase's POV: Bri agreed to go to the gala night. This is the best news ever. I'm sure we'll have fun together. I have already texted Janice to tell her to get ready. Her help is necessary. I can buy a dress and give it to my date, but I can't do anything else. My friend will do her magic on it. You have no idea how excited I am. It's only for a couple of hours. I will enjoy it for as long as I can. After the event, Bri will go back to the street. I would love to take her home with me. The thing is that she won't come. That's why I have asked her many times. The girl keeps rejecting me. Maybe one day, she will accept. This is called patience. I better focus on the event. No one should understand her state. There is nothing wrong with that, but I know my dad. After all, I don't need to ruin his night. I can't hide this forever. I can avoid his questions, but this will be hard. I will tell him the truth, but not now. We have other things to worry about. The guest list is not small. Also, people from magazines will interview him and take pictures. If they don't take one of me, I will be fine. I'm sure Bri won't like to see herself on the first pages. Dad might enjoy the spotlight, but I don't. We don't understand each other well. I get nervous when all the attention is on me. That's why I didn't want to follow him everywhere. This is a personal matter. Now I can't think about anything else besides my date. I still can't believe that she agreed to come with me. It's like a dream come true. I will make sure she has the best night ever. I might not always be with her, but I will use this chance to get close to her. She will be mine in no time. Well, when I get back to reality. It sounds easy, but it's not. I hope that the gala night will end well. It's my dad's most famous event of the year. On this day, the whole building is empty. Everyone is at home, getting ready for tonight. That should include me, but no. I start taking care of my looks two hours before the event. I mean, I am a guy. All I need is a shower and to put on a suit. It doesn't take that much time. After all, I don't wear makeup. My plan for the day is simple. I will find Bri and make her spend the day with me. She might be at work, but I'll think of something. No one can say no to Chase Wilson. Maybe that is except for her. Currently, I am in my living room, ready to go out. I texted Janice to tell her when she should come home. Until then, I will spend the day with Bri. To do that, first, I need to find her. This won't be that hard. I took my things and walked out. I don't need my car for everything. My first stop was the coffee shop. It was closed. I don't understand. I thought she was working. I turned around and saw Bri coming from the food store nearby. I don't know how someone can look like that without any effort. - Hey. - Hello. Are you looking for something? - It's someone. - Who? - You. - Me? Why? - Today is the gala night. - Ok, but there are a couple of hours until then. - I know, but I wanted to see you. I thought you were working. - Not today. The boss closed the store. - Why? - I don't know. Yesterday she told us that we won't work today. - Maybe she has something in her mind. - Maybe. What do you want us to do? - I want you to spend the day with me. - Oh, ok. Where are we going? - I don't know. My friend will come later to do your transformation. - Should I be scared? - No, don't worry. She will only give you a dress and some makeup. That's it. - I don't think she can do something about me. - Trust me. She is good. - If you say so. Bri and I started walking. I left her to talk. Even if she talks nonsense, I will listen to her all day. I don't know what is happening to me. I have been around many girls, but no one made me feel this way. This girl is different. I don't know how, but she is. Soon, we arrived in a park. Usually, I don't come here, but today I will make an exception. - I want to take you for lunch. - Bri said - Really? Are you sure? - Yes. Don't expect it to be the best one in your life, but I want to do something for you. - No problem. I would love that. - Thanks. Do you think that we can hide? - Where? - Tonight. I mean, it's visible that I'm not one of them. - Trust me. My friend will make you blend so easily. - If you say so. - You don't have to worry about anything. - Let's say that I believe you. I let Bri take me for lunch. I know she can't afford it, but I let her do it. I will secretly give her the money back. She should waste it on me. I can take care of myself. I wish I could do it for her, too. The rest of the afternoon we spent outside. Why can't we do this every day? I would love it. Maybe I can come to visit her. I don't think she will mind. Around 4 pm, we were at home. Janice should be here, too. This is where the magic will happen. Bri looks beautiful, but I can't wait to see her in a dress. - Welcome to my cave. - I said, and she laughed - You live here? - Yes, why? - That is like a mansion. - No, my parent's house is big. Technically, this is a gift from them. - You must have been a good kid. - I tried my best. - You did well. - While we are waiting for Janice, you can go and take a shower if you want. - Thanks, I would like one. To which room should I go? - Go to mine. I haven't put any bathroom supplies in the guest bathroom. - Ok, thank you. Can I get a towel? - I always keep one there. You will see it. - Thanks. I will be back soon. The moment Bri went for a shower, I heard the doorbell. That should be my friend. I opened the door and let her in. She has a mini suitcase, probably with makeup, and two dresses. This might be one of the best nights of my life. - Hello, how are you? - I'm fine, thanks. - Where is your girl? - In the shower. What do you have here? - I bought two dresses because I didn't know which would suit her better. - All of them. - Ok, I am ready. Oh, hi. - Bri said - That is your girl? - Yes, why? - That is the cleanest skin I have ever seen. How do you do this? It's impossible. Neither a single pimple. A scratch. Anything. - Thanks. - We need to dry this hair. - How? - You never dried your hair before. - No, why? - Chase, bring me a hairdryer. Let the magic begin. While Janice was taking care of Bri, I went for a shower. I will take less time. After all, I have only one suit. It can't be that hard. That took me forty-five minutes. I went to check on the girls, but Janice threw me away. She wasn't ready yet. I tried to peek, but it didn't work. I guess I have to wait. I don't want to do this at all. - Ok, Chase. She is ready. - I'm coming. - Well, what do you think? The princess is ready for the gala night. - Woah. She looks amazing. - I don't know where you found this girl, but she is perfect. - Janice said, whispering - It's better if you don't know. - Why? - I will tell you another day. - Ok, you two have to go now. - Bri, are you ok? - Yes, I'm fine. Maybe I'm a little bit nervous. That's it. - Everything will be fine. I'll be with you. - You have to go now. Take the princess and go. Tomorrow you will tell me how it went. - Thank you so much for the help. You are the best. - It was a pleasure for me to work with such a perfect model. I will take my car for the event. I can't let something happen to her dress. One look at her was enough for me to understand how she felt. I can read her like an open book. I grabbed her hand, and she looked at me. No words are needed now. Soon, we arrived. Most of the people were already here. Maybe I am the nervous one. I went to open her door and help her get out. It's only for a few hours. - There are many people here. - Bri said - Not everyone is here yet. - Are you sure this is a good idea? - Bri, we are already here. Do you see these people over there? - Yes. Are these your parents? - No, these are my aunt and uncle. I come only for them. - Why? - Because with them only I can talk about everything. - I understand. - Hello. How are you two? - We are fine. Who is the beautiful girl next to you? - my aunt asked - Well, my dad wanted to bring one, so I did. This is Brianna. - Hello. You look amazing. - Thanks, but you should say this to Janice. - Why? - I asked her for help. - I said - I see. She did a great job with the makeup. - Oh, that is not the makeup. - What? - I have only eyeshadow and lipstick. - Bri said - That is your skin? - Yes, why? - I need your secret. It's perfect. - Why does everybody say this? - Because it's true. You have the perfect skin everyone dreams about. - I said - Chase, can you come? - my dad asked - I'll be back in a minute. Dad wanted to present me to some people. It's not like I haven't seen them before. I wanted to go back to Bri. That's why I came here. Also, I told her that I wouldn't leave her alone. Well, I see that my aunt and uncle are keeping her company. Finally, I managed to walk away. These people talk about things that are not interesting to me. - Hey, I'm sorry about that. Where is Bri? - She went to the bathroom. - my uncle said - Thanks. - Is everything ok? - I hope so. I walked there and knocked on the door. I had to make sure she was not doing something. That way, I could go inside. I walked in and saw her head down. I hate to see her upset. - Hey, what happened? - Nothing. I only needed a few minutes out of the noise. - Are you sure? - Yes. Why are you here? - Because I got worried. I promised to stay with you. - You don't have to do that. I'm fine. - This doesn't mean that I will leave you alone. - Thanks. We better go back there. - Not before you give me a big hug. - Now? - Yes. - My makeup can go over you. - I don't care. - Ok, here you go. - she said and hugged me - Thanks. We walked back to the people. I see why she wanted some time for herself. I noticed my mom and waved at her. She grabbed my dad and came to me. I wish it had been only her. I don't want to hear his comments. - Look who decided to listen to me. Hello there. - Hi. - Chase, where did you find her? She looks amazing. - my mom said - I have a good eye. - For sure, you do. Is that your skin or makeup? - she asked, touching Bri's cheeks - It's my skin. - Oh my god. How? - I don't know. Many people ask me the same. - Your skin is perfect. Honestly, it's not only that. No wonder why my son chose to come with you. - Thanks. - That will be memorable for sure. Maybe you can bring her to my other events. - my dad said - I don't know. I won't think about this now. - She fits well with your image. - Dad. - What? - We need to go. - I said and grabbed Bri's hand - Thanks. - she said, whispering - You're welcome. The rest of the night we spent here. We had to go home so she could change herself. I asked her to stay home because it was late. By the time we arrived, it had already passed midnight. The thing is that I didn't want her to walk alone outside. After some time of pleasing her, she agreed to stay. I gave her the guest room. I don't know how I did it, but I'm glad she is here. Of course, I won't tell this to my parents. I will be in trouble if my dad finds out who she is. It's better if they don't know for now. Somehow, we managed to keep her secret. I hope that when this comes out, people won't make fun of her.
