Episode 6
Maya couldn’t stop thinking about the close call from last night. Every shadow on the wall felt like an enemy, every passing stranger a potential threat. Even with Deran by her side, a part of her felt exposed, vulnerable.
Deran noticed her unease. “You can’t hide forever,” he said, his voice calm but firm. “They’ll find you if we don’t confront this head-on.”
Maya’s heart raced. “How? I’m just… me. I’m not part of whatever you’re dealing with.”
Deran’s expression hardened. “That’s exactly why they’re after you. You’re connected to people who thought you were safe. And now, you’re not.”
He pulled her to a quiet café, scanning the room as he spoke. “We need to figure out who’s involved before they strike again.”
Maya’s mind swirled with questions and fear. The weight of secrets she didn’t fully understand pressed down on her. And yet, amidst the fear, she felt a strange trust toward Deran—a reassurance that, for the first time, she wasn’t alone.
As they left the café, a black car slowly passed them, windows tinted, engine quiet. Maya’s stomach dropped. The hidden threats were closer than she realized… and time was running out.
