Chapter Twenty-Eight Storage No one was quite sure where the idea for the enclosures had originated, but it was probably something that had been created during the Middle Ages and modified throughout history. They were truly diabolical in concept, and anyone who saw just one, let alone multiple sets of them, gave them a long, hard look, especially if they were occupied. Here in the Schloss, they kept a large set of the steel cages, fabricated from medium hard alloy steel bar and welded at each junction. The cages were approximately one meter long, eighty millimeters wide and sixty millimeters high, although there were larger versions and smaller ones as well. Access to the cage was through the top which could be totally removed and was closed with a set of four locks, one on each side. T
