RYAN'S POV
The crying girl stood up and she seemed shorter than she was on the runway earlier. I looked down at her feet and discovered that she had gotten rid of the 6 inch heels she was wearing earlier. She was about 5'6 without the heels. She had long blonde hair and pale blue eyes. She was beautiful and I wanted her.
When she stormed off earlier, I asked who she was and she was infact who I needed at the moment.
She was a damsel in distress and I was a knight in shining armour. She wouldn't say no if I asked her for anything.
"Marry me" I found myself saying.
Her look changed instantly, she was shocked. I understood why she would be shocked, I was a stranger and she didn't expect to hear this, but I was dead serious. She crossed her hands over her chest and glared at me. "Who are you"? She asked "Ryan…Ryan Thompson", I said, flashing her a smile. "Mr Thompson, what sort of sick joke is this?" She asked "what kind of prank is this, because I'm obviously not in the mood for pranks." I wasn't in the mood for pranks either especially not a marriage prank.
"I'm serious" I replied, "How did you even find me here? Not everyone knows this part of school" She asked, getting a little scared. "I know this place because I drew the plan for this school"I answered her. She looked at me with utter bewilderment " what do you mean that you drew the plan for the school? Aren't you from a fashion agency"? She asked, looking all the more confused. At this point I understood why her initial response was more hopeful than it is now. "No, I'm an architect" I said, trying to get her relax her mind. "What is an architect doing at a fashion showcase?" She asked "I'm the Patron of the event" I tried to explain "I need to get married to you Kylie, this week" I said again and she froze in surprise.
"Whatever you are, your request is absurd and I don't plan on getting married soon, at least not to a stranger. So if you don't mind, I'll be on my way. I feel uncomfortable talking to you here" she said as she made to leave. "Wait", I called and I reached out my hand and slipped my business card into her hands, "Call me when you make up your mind", I said and let her go. Just then, my PA, Leo came running towards me. "I have been waiting and I was beginning to worry" he said as he approached me. " I'm good, have you taken care of what I asked you to" I asked "Yes sir" he replied awaiting my next instruction. "I don't feel like staying for the rest of the event, announce my leave to the organizers, I'll be in the car" I said and walked past him.
I had so much on my mind. This was the first time a woman had said no to me. I was not surprised and not disappointed. Based on my experiences with women, I've learnt that they come around eventually.
Maybe it was because she doesn't know who I am or because I suddenly asked her to marry me. Either way, the caveman in me is enjoying the chase and I will not stop until she comes around.
I walked to my car to wait for Leo. I turned facing the main building and I couldn't believe how far I had come. This building happened to be my first project in Seattle when I was still a much younger architect trying to get by without my father's help.
I took out my phone to take pictures of the building and I could feel eyes around staring at me. Just then, Leo came running and we got into the car, and drove towards the exit. As we sped past, I saw Kylie standing with a tall guy dressed in pink and for a brief second, our eyes met. She turned away instantly and I smiled to myself. "This is going to be interesting, I'm getting married soon", I chuckled.
