Kiara POV
Time flew by rather quickly. In a blink of an eye, a week had passed since the day I broke up with Nolan. The job kept me being busy, and it helped with the heartbreak.
Nolan still won’t give up. He bombed me with many texts and calls to the point it irritates me. I think I had to change my number. I turned off my phone and shoved them inside my bag as I strode towards my office.
I was shocked as I got attacked by a thousand heart-shaped air balloons inside my working space. “What the hell is this?” my anger bubbled up as I saw the childish ‘I’m sorry’ letter arrangement plastered on the wall.
Did he actually think I would forgive him by doing this? He is so wrong. “Barbara, please get rid of all the balloons inside my room right now!” I marched towards my PA and told her while gritting my teeth.
“But why? Isn’t it romantic?” she asked back, making me stop. “Hell no!” I raised both hands in the air before I blew out an exasperated breath. I knew Barbara was a big fan of Nolan. She still worshipped the bastard even though I just caught him cheating.
I left her after that and walked towards the meeting room. I had another important meeting this morning. I don’t have time to deal with that crap.
I saw dad already sitting there inside the meeting room as I stepped in. He looked furious as he saw me. I can’t understand why. I did nothing wrong.
“Are we going to have a meeting right now? Where are the others?” I asked him in confusion as I sat on the empty chair in front of him. “Why didn’t you tell me earlier, Kiara?” he said accusingly at me.
I put down my tablet and phone on top of the table. “Tell you about what?” I asked him back.
“That you rejected Nolan’s proposal for the new photoshoot? He was so upset. He drank a lot that night and ended up bringing another woman into his place.” My jaw dropped to the floor. What kind of absurd reason was that? I mean… How could he?
Now he used that silly excuse to justify himself and make my dad turn against me?
“Dad, we both agree that the dog in the photoshoot was a stupid idea.” I quickly countered, folding both arms in front of my chest. He raised one hand to stop me. “I said, we could consider it…” he said, raising his voice.
This doesn’t make any sense at all. He clearly agreed with me at the last meeting because we were afraid the dog might bite and tear the expensive clothes on the photoshoot. “Dad, so now you blamed me for this?” I said angrily, getting up from my seat. I picked up my tab and phone from the top of the table. “Kiara…!” Dad said, almost like yelling at me.
“What now?” I asked him back, still trying to hold my anger. “You have to apologize to him. Talk like an adult. I believe both of you can work this out.” He advises, this time sounded a bit calmer.
“I am not going to apologize to that worthless piece of s**t!” I stated, then exited the room, banging the door behind me.
I walked back into my room, and I found the hideous balloon was still there. “Aarrrghh!?.. “ I groaned in frustration, pulling my hair. I swear I’ll make Nolan pay for this.
I took the picture frame from the top of my table. I used to love this picture of Nolan and me together. I thought we looked cute together, but now I hate it. I smashed it into the floor and stepped on them many times, especially on his face.
After stomping on his photo, I felt slightly better, but I am still furious. I fished out my phone and called Pamela. I waited until the third ring then she answered my calls.
“Hi there, b***h! What’s up?” she answered with a cheery voice. I let out a deep sigh before I said. “I need a few drinks tonight, or I’ll swear I lose my sanity. Let’s meet up at the same bar. Meet me at ten. Bring Chloe and Mia too.” I told her and hung up on the phone.
***************
I saw Pamela and the two other girls waiting for me in front of the bar as we talked. I stopped the car and pulled over, checking my look from the small mirror before I walked out.
I pulled down my overly short red leather bodycon dress as I walked out of my car. I swear this is the tiniest piece of dress that I’ve owned. I had no idea why I chose to wear this dress tonight.
Maybe I was too desperate to find a man. But I wanted some revenge on Nolan. I have to show him that I can move on to piss him off. Pamela waved her hand at me as she saw me walking in her direction.
She looked hot herself tonight. Wearing a halter top and tiny black short skirt with high knee boots. “Ready to get wasted? Why did you bring your car? You wouldn’t be driving it back anyway?” she asked me, looking back at my car. She was right. I should’ve grabbed a taxi here. But I was too uncomfortable to get a taxi in this skimpy dress. I’ll figure out about the car later.
I shrugged my shoulder and clung onto one of her arms. “Come on, girl. Let’s have some fun tonight.”
The fourth of us entered the bar. I could feel all eyes on us. I suddenly felt a boost in my confidence.
I feel beautiful, powerful, and sexy tonight in my super short red dress and my Louboutin heels. We both decided to have a drink first to loosen up. Chloe and Mia instantly hit the dance floor while I had a drink with Pam.
After ordering our drinks to the bartender, we both clinked our glasses together. “To great night!” Pamela said. We both finished our drink in one big gulp. “Oh, that s**t is strong,” Pam said, winching a bit after she finished her drink. She then looked back at me. “Spill it, girl! What drives you mad today?” she finally asked me. “It’s Nolan. He turned my dad against me today.” I explained to her briefly.
“What’s that supposed to mean?” Pam asked me back. She clearly wasn’t getting my meaning. “He told dad that I was the reason he got drunk that night and brought another woman into his place.”
Pam’s eyes went wide. “Are you kidding me? He’s such a terrible liar… and an ass.” She said, tightening her grab on the glass. For a moment, I was scared that she might break it.
“I know, right!? He was fully sober when I caught him cheating. Do you know what pisses me even more? My dad believed him! He told me to apologize to Nolan.” I said, blowing out a breath then ordering another drink. Her mouth went agape. “No, you did not.” I cut her. “Over my dead body! I’ll rather be kissing that fat dude over there than apologize to Nolan King.” I said, motioning to the lonely, middle-aged man who sat not too far from us.
Pamela winced in disgust. “Ughh… I bet his breath stinks.” She barked out laughing, causing me to laugh with her. “So what are you going to do now?” she then asked after she stopped laughing.
“I am going to find a man tonight,” I told her. Pam was taken aback by my plan. “Okay, but having a new boyfriend isn’t enough,” Pamela said, slowly sipping her drink this time.
“Of course not. I am going to give my next boyfriend my V card.” I stated, and she suddenly splurted the alcohol from her mouth. “W-what did you say?” Pam asked me back in disbelief.
I nodded firmly at her. “You heard me right, Pam. I am going to give him my virginity.” I said. She looked away for a brief moment. I shot her a glare, and she raised both hands in the air as a sign of surrender. “I mean, that’s great! But are you sure about this?” she asked.
She knew how much I valued my virginity. But this is my last straw. I was actually started to lose faith in a man. Nolan is my tenth boyfriend, and I don’t think my heart could take another heartbreak.
“I’ve never been this sure in my life. I am ready for this, Pam. Now that I was making such a big decision, I felt excited.” I replied to her. I adjusted my seat facing her. She was still stunned by my sudden decision.
“Pam, you’re my friend. You’ve got to help me.” I said, grabbing her hand, almost pleading at her. She c****d an eyebrow at me. “You mean, tonight you’ll let me choose a man for you?” she asked, then smirked at me.
I turned back and grabbed my glass. “Yeah, but it was completely my decision to have s*x with him or not at the end. I let you choose because you’re good at spotting a hot dude.” I replied, wriggling my eyebrows at her.
She elbowed the side of my stomach. “Speaking of which. I already spotted one for you.” She said, her eyes went to the person behind my back. I followed the direction of her eyes.
My eyes widened as I recognized him. He’s the same man that we saw last time we were here. I guessed he was a regular customer here. This place is more high-level, and only a rich person could enter this bar.
He still looked as handsome and alluring as I remembered him to be. Tonight I could spot his pecks wrapped deliciously behind his black V-neck T-shirt. I could feel my heart stop beating as our eyes met.
The way his intense eyes bore into mine as if he could look deep into my soul.
Maybe I was being too skeptical when I saw him the first time.
“He’s been watching you for a while, you know,” Pamela whispered at my ear, startling me a bit.
I broke our eye contact and looked back at her. “Let’s dance!” I said with a smirk, pulling her to get up from our seat.
