Chapter Thirty One Monday, 12th; Evening Joe arrived home late from work, confused at the lifeless feel of the house as he opened the front door. After a beat or two he remembered Caroline was away again. He strolled into the kitchen and set the kettle to boil, then on impulse he grabbed a bottle of wine and switched off the kettle. A guilty smile sprung to his lips as he thought of a few drinks and a curry in front of the telly. Of course he could do that when Caroline was around, but this felt illicit as if he were somehow breaking the rules, and therefore much more fun. Also, he wouldn’t have to share.
