The beginning
Silvia POV
Laughter erupted behind the school's bathroom as my sister, Lydia painted my face with her lipstick. Her friends jeered out loud urging her to keep going.
“She is so ugly."
“Shr resembles momo that ugly witch doll." Her friends snickered behind her.
“What? Do you not like it when I put makeup on you?" Lydia teased, pouting her lips in a mocking way. “You should be grateful that you are using my makeup, b***h!" She slammed my back against the wall causing my books to fall into the toilet.
“Please, can you stop this..." I stuttered, my voice thick with emotions. I wanted to get out of this mess. But my sister and her stupid friends won't let me be.
She wanted me to attend her classes while she ditched school to party. When I refused, she ended up bullying me.
“I will ask you one more time. Do you have any problem attending my classes? You don't have to do anything much. Just make sure I don't fail my tests and assignments." She smiled like a maniac, rolling my hair around her fingers.
“You know it is impossible for me to attend your classes. I..." I trailed off, flinching as she raised her hand to my face.
“I don't care if it is impossible for you or not. You must attend my classes or I will post that video of you online. I am pretty sure you don't want that to happen, especially when Daddy is running for an election," she threatened, her voice a high tempo of thunder and chaos.
I stilled. Horror churning my guts as flashes of the video crossed through my mind. “Please, don't. I...I will attend your classes, just don't post the video," I begged, devastated by her threat to ruin my reputation.
The only thing that could ruin my life and destroy my chance to go to my dream college for masters was that video.
“Good girl, see it wasn't that hard to say yes. Now, get your ass to class. I have a lecture in two minutes," she said, slamming her books on my chest.
I grabbed her books and bolted out of the bathroom. Outside the hallway, people stared at me with disgusted expressions on their faces due to the horrible drawings Lydia had left on my face.
“Silvia?" Someone called from behind. “Oh my God, what happened to your face?" My best friend, cherry questioned as I turned to look at her.
“What else do you think? My sister decided to play Christie make me up on my face today," I muttered, feeling embarrassed by it all.
“Why don't you tell your parents about this? Her bullying is getting too much," Cherry suggested, lending her little hankie to me.
“I can't, they won't believe me." I wiped my face, using my phone as a mirror. “They think Lydia is a delicate girl that can't harm a file while I am the black sheep that never obeys instructions." I sighed getting overwhelmed by the harsh reality.
“Well, you have to tell someone with more authority about this. She needs to be dis..."
“Don't even think about it. It is way impossible to get such support.you know how much the school loved her. She is like an untouchable glass. Reporting her will only get me in trouble. I...I will see you later after class." I brushed past her and went to the senior auditorium.
HU as in Haywood University for short, was a prestigious school with wealthy students. The rules were simple, don't offend someone bigger than you.
I have been able to manovure through the school's rigid system without being noticed. Except for my sister and her stupid friends who love to make my life hell.
There are three rules I used to stay alive in this man eating University....Not literal eating.
Rule one: Never wear extravagant or flashy clothes to avoid attention.
Rule two: Never tell anyone Lydia is my sister.
Rule three: Avoid any rich senior with a bad record.
With these rules, I have been able to survive for three years in the university's environment without getting noticed.
This is my last semester at the university and I pray nothing bad happens.
A bag of ice crushed against the door as I was about to enter. I gripped my books startled by the unexpected attack.
“Watch out, puppy face. You just got lucky with the ice." Two guys laughed as I trudged in.
I tried to avoid everyone's gaze and mind my business.
All I had to do was attend Lydia's lecture and disappear for the day. Senior class was the most terrifying class to be in as a junior.
Most students here were children of top rank politicians, billionaires, CEOs and whatever high status you could think of. The last thing anyone below their status would do is to offend any of them.
I darted towards a roll of empty seats, brushing my hair in front of my face to make me look invisible.
Right next me, a girl was being bullied by some senior girls. I tried not to make a sound even though I was freaking out inside.
My hands trembled each time I heard the senior girls smack her face. Memories of being beaten at home flashed through my mind.
The atmosphere became unbearable for me to breathe. My hands locked tight on my chest, veins popping as if I was being strangled. I couldn't breathe, the torture, the screams of agony, they all came crashing down.
“That's enough!" I screamed and silence befell the hall.
Oh my God, I did not just say that a loud.
“Hey, are you crazy?" One of the bullies pushed my head aside.
“Who the hell is this b***h?" She yanked my hair and tossed it aside. “Heyyy!" She yelled furiously and I flinched, pulling away from her.
“Do you know who I am, b***h?" She trudged towards me, her steps slow and menacing. My heart quickened in beat as I stumbled onto another chair.
“I...I... didn't mean to..." I stuttered, trying to explain but the girl pushed me and in the process of saving myself, I accidentally hit a diamond wrist watch and it crashed to the ground shattering into pieces.
“Oh no, that's Jack Blackwood's one billion dollars Rolex...."
