After Forgetting Ye Xi

Officer Zhang stared into Adeline’s eyes and suddenly shuddered. Why did hearing the word "ghost" from this girl give him such a chilling feeling? "Who exactly are you?!"
"Officer, as I said, I’m just an ordinary new student at Kingsley Academy," Adeline replied, maintaining her graceful smile.
Knock, knock, knock! Suddenly, there was a knock on the door, and another officer walked in. "Officer Zhang, there’s a boy named Ye Xi outside, saying he wants to take Adeline with him!"
"Got it," Officer Zhang waved his hand, his expression growing more serious as he looked at Adeline. "Miss Adeline, I hope you cooperate with the police and contact us immediately if you find anything."
"Of course, no problem!" Adeline smiled and then walked out of the police station.
As soon as she stepped outside, she spotted the handsome but expressionless Ye Xi sitting in his sports car. Her heart filled with sweetness, as if it had been drenched in honey.
It was as though she had forgotten she was a vampire, feeling like just an ordinary girl in love. With a smile, she ran toward him. "Ye Xi, what are you doing here?"
"Adeline," Ye Xi said, still emotionless as he looked at her. "You’re my fiancée. It’s my duty to protect you."
Overjoyed, Adeline climbed into the car and immediately wrapped her arms around Ye Xi’s neck, pouting playfully. "Ye Xi, you’re so good to me! I’m hungry; can we go find something to eat?"
"Hungry?" Ye Xi suddenly remembered the supply of blood bags left at the villa in City B and responded, "I’ll take you to find something to eat."

Su Yixia had unknowingly fallen asleep in Jesse’s arms, a sense of peace enveloping her like she’d never felt before.
Jesse held her, silently gazing at the face that had once both broken and healed his heart. A complex emotion began to grow within him. As long as he could stay with her, he didn’t need anything else.
It was soon noon, but Su Yixia was still sound asleep. By now, the library had opened, and students were trickling in.
Because she was resting, Jesse hadn’t moved. He simply let her lie there quietly in his arms, indifferent to the curious looks from others. He didn’t care about anyone or anything—only Su Yixia mattered to him.
"Ah!" A female student searching for a book in the nearby bookshelf suddenly screamed upon seeing Su Yixia sleeping in the arms of an incredibly handsome guy.
The library, which had been so quiet moments before, was now in an uproar as her scream startled everyone.
Soon, students gathered to see what had happened, even the librarian. "What’s going on here?!"
Seeing Su Yixia lying in the arms of a boy, the onlookers started whispering:
"Isn’t that Su Yixia?"
"Yeah, isn’t she Cheng Nuo’s girlfriend?"
"Weren’t there rumors about her and the new campus heartthrob, Ye Xi?"
"True, but who’s she with now?"
"This guy is really handsome!"

The whispers annoyed Jesse, and his expression began to darken.
"What are you all doing here?" The librarian pushed through the crowd, surprised to see a boy and girl together. "How did you get in here? I only just unlocked the doors!"
The loud noise quickly woke Su Yixia. She rubbed her eyes and, upon seeing the crowd gathered around her, sat up in shock.
"Aren’t you Su Yixia?" The librarian recognized her as Cheng Nuo’s girlfriend, a wealthy student she’d seen a few times. She couldn’t help but feel curious—why was Su Yixia here with this mysterious boy? And why did the boy exude such a cold aura?
"Yes, Auntie!" Su Yixia forced a smile. "I’m sorry, I was a bit tired and accidentally fell asleep in the library."
"But how did you get in?" The librarian frowned. "There’s only one entrance to the library, and the windows are all barred. How did you get in? Did you fly?"
She was sure she hadn’t seen them earlier. Su Yixia might not have stood out, but the boy, with his striking appearance, was impossible to miss.
"I…" Su Yixia was unsure how to respond, but Jesse interrupted with a flat expression, "We walked in."
"Walked in?" The librarian looked skeptical. "But I didn’t see you earlier."
"You must have missed us," Jesse said, blinking as a light flashed into the librarian’s eyes. She shuddered and then said, "Oh right, you must’ve been here when I opened the doors this morning."
The librarian then sternly shouted at the other students, "Alright, everyone, go back to your studies!"
Reluctantly, the fangirls exchanged glances and, despite their envy, dispersed.
"Let’s go, Xia," Jesse said softly, gently helping Su Yixia to her feet as they prepared to leave.
"Ouch, my leg’s numb!" Su Yixia exclaimed. After having slept on Jesse for so long, her leg had gone completely numb, making it impossible to walk.
"I’ll carry you," Jesse said, frowning slightly. Without hesitation, he lifted her onto his back and prepared to leave.
As they walked past the bookshelves, a group of female students stood on the other side. After exchanging a look, they maliciously pushed the shelf toward Su Yixia.
The girls smirked as the shelf toppled over toward her, but Jesse’s eyes flashed coldly, and time suddenly froze.
Gently setting Su Yixia down, Jesse approached the frozen girls and slapped each of them hard. He then opened his mouth wide, revealing sharp fangs, and bit into the neck of the ringleader who had intended to harm Su Yixia.
After draining enough, Jesse released her, returned to Su Yixia, picked her up again, and in the next instant, the clock on the wall resumed ticking. The bookshelf that had been falling toward Su Yixia instead collapsed onto the girls, pinning them beneath its weight.
One of the girls, trapped under the shelf and feeling a sharp pain in her neck, touched her throat and screamed in horror upon seeing the blood on her fingers.
Without even looking back, Jesse carried Su Yixia out of the library.
"Jesse, what just happened back there?" Outside the library, Su Yixia asked Jesse to put her down, still puzzled by the sudden collapse of the bookshelf inside. "Did you do that?"
"Yes, it was me!" Jesse admitted without hesitation. "Those stupid girls dared to try to hurt you. Elisa, I've told you before, I won't let anyone have a chance to harm you!"
"I'm not Elisa!" Su Yixia glared at Jesse angrily. "I've told you before, I'm not Elisa, I'm Su Yixia!"
"Does it really matter who you are?" Jesse frowned as he looked at her.
"Of course it matters! I don't want to be just a replacement for Elisa!" Su Yixia felt an emptiness inside her, as if something important, some vital memory, was missing. Yet, being with Jesse felt so familiar, like a connection that had existed for a very long time.
So, she was afraid. Afraid that Jesse only saw her as Elisa's stand-in, because Elisa was just a memory from her past life.
"Xiao Yi, I promise I will never mention Elisa in front of you again!" Jesse gently pulled Su Yixia into his arms, kissing her hair with a smile. "I love you! The person I love is you!"
However, Su Yixia's brow slowly furrowed. Even though being with Jesse felt familiar and warm, she still felt like something was missing, like something important had been forgotten. This feeling was unsettling.
"Xiao Yi, you... you and him?" Feeling troubled, Cheng Nuo finally chose to come to the school to find Su Yixia. If Su Yixia truly liked Ye Xi, he would have been willing to give up. But now, he saw her in another guy's arms, and his heart shattered.
Could it be that Su Yixia really was the kind of girl who would move on so quickly?
"Cheng Nuo?" Seeing him, Su Yixia hurriedly pushed Jesse away and frowned, stepping forward to explain. "Cheng Nuo, he and I..."
Jesse quickly stepped forward, glaring at Cheng Nuo with hostility. "Who are you?"
"Xiao Yi, do you not like me even a little anymore?" Cheng Nuo was heartbroken, unable to hold back the tears that welled up in his eyes. "This whole year we’ve been together, have you forgotten it all? Xiao Yi, what did I do wrong? Why are you with someone else?"
Facing Cheng Nuo, Su Yixia felt a deep sense of guilt. "Cheng Nuo, actually, he and I..."
Suddenly, Su Yixia didn’t know how to explain. The memories of Ye Xi had disappeared from her mind, leaving only the past she shared with Jesse.
