AURORA'S POV "What possessed you to be this friendly with an underclassman? I never seen you even go through such fuss in cooking class as well. Who are you and what have you done to the real Aurora." I chuckled at Stella's reaction. "Oh shut it. There's no harm in being friendly with an underclassman. I should ask Ophelia in the first place since she's the second year. It would be much easier rather than go to every single second-year classroom like the way we just did." Stella shrugged. "Well, I met her yesterday at the front entrance. I'm not sure why didn't I recognized her the moment I saw that sketch you made. Probably she just slips my mind. Anyway, have you thought about the thing we discussed yesterday? Do you have any candidate for your soeur?" I sighed. "Nope. Why do I have to find one? Can't I just be alone like always? Being a grande soeur is hard work. I mean, I have much duty as a Scion and now I have to take care of a soeur? No way." Stella opened the door for me and it lead us to the middle square. "It's tradition. Your ancestor created that tradition and you being the sixth generation of Heroux should know better." Stella stated. I sighed heavily. "Hey, you could make Maya as your soeur." She suggested. That's not a bad idea but will she accept the offer? What am I thinking?! I don't even know her that well. "If you wanted to know more about her, I have her information," Stella informed. "Why do you have them?" I asked. She smirked. "Isn't student personal information is my forte? I like knowing their secret." She stated. We finally arrived at the Azalea mansion. As I stepped my foot inside, I noticed some of student government secretary greeted me with a bow. "Oh no no no. What did we agree on?" I jogged their memory. "I'm sorry my lady." They slowly looking up at me. "Hey, Auro...ra." I chuckled when they started to stuttered. "Hmm. Good greeting but less stutter next time. Okay?" They nodded and I continued to walk towards the meeting room on the second floor. It's busy as always around this mansion and it's just the second day of school. Stella opened the double door for me to enter. "Hey, Luna. How are you?" I greeted the black hair beauty. She looks up and smiled. "Hey, Aurora." She finished up her discussion with the student government general worker and excuse them. "My lady.." they greeted me before walking out of the meeting room. "Something wrong?" I asked. "Nothing much. Just the neighboring all boys school. That's all." Ahhh.. those young hormone raging boys never rest when it comes to woman. "Aurora, is it true you made some food for the second year? I overheard one of the treasurers talking about it earlier." Luna asked. "I did. Why? Is there something wrong?" I asked her back. "Oh no. It's your choice to be all friendly but does set it in your mind that the public eyes are watching your every move. Well, if she's your soeur, now that's another whole lot of story." Is it really important for me to have a soeur? "She wants to know about Maya first then she thinks about asking her to be her soeur," Stella said without even consulting me first. "What makes you think you can plan ahead about my future?" I asked that childhood friend of mine. "Well, I'm sorry. If we do wait for you to make a decision, you will never have a soeur until you're graduated. Remember the election a month before our graduation, Aurora." Stella remind me. "This is just our second day of school. Don't be in such a rush. If I do have a soeur, she probably doesn't want to be a Scion. Remember that." I stated. Luna placed a couple of files in front of me. "Those that need to check pronto." She even places a feather pen in front of me. "Don't we have any normal pen to use?" I asked. "It's tradition." Again with the tradition. I sighed and began to do my work. I took the first file and noticed it's a club registration form. "Luna, aren't you suppose to do this registration?" I asked my other childhood friend. Usually, it's her job to take care of this. "I did. You need to confirm it all. The freshman student really does have a wild imagination, did you know. They even wanted to create a stuffed animal club." That sound so cute. I want to be part of that club. "How many classes does the freshman has for this year?" I asked Stella. "13. 20-35 people a classroom," Stella replied with her mouth full. "A lady shouldn't talk with her mouth full." She smiled. Anyway, there's a lot of freshman classes this year. Since the headmistress announced that this academy will receive students from any public school applicant, they work hard to enroll here. And our entrance exam is one of the toughest in the country. I smiled. "Good job headmistress," I mumbled to myself. "Sorry, I'm late." Ophelia finally joining us. She's also my childhood friend but she's a year younger than I am. She might be all bubbly but when it comes to money, she's a beast. That's why I made her the head of the treasury department. "Good. How much is our budget for this year?" I asked. "I just came here you know, give me a break please." I looked up at her nonchalantly. "Geez, I'm sorry. Anyway, we have enough. I think. Harriet, your sister is the current head director of this academy for God sake." I smiled. "Oh, yea. I forgot about that." I continued to do my checking and stumbled across a weird club. "Luna. What is the Single's club?" Stella and Ophelia started to laugh. Luna went to my side and check the form. "Oh. It's a club for single girls, I think. That's an obvious no. There's a chance they only want to prank us. It is our classmate who sent this. You know, the joker." She's right. But it could be fun to have such a club in the academy. "I know what your thinking! The answer is no. This is a prestigious academy. If the other school representative came as a guest for inspection, it will be such embarrassment when they learned about that club even exist." Luna sternly said. Stella and Ophelia both can't contain their laughter anymore. I chuckled and reached for a stamp. "Decline," I said and gave her back the form. "Wise decision, Scion." I smiled. I heard a knock on the door and Luna went to open it. "Yes? Oh. Thank you. Place it on the table." Luna said. I look up and noticed Stella and Luna's soeur walking in with the tray of refreshment. "See Aurora. Having a soeur is wonderful." Stella said. "We have maids." I smiled at her. "Thank you. Now, please take your seat and help Ophelia doing her checklist." "Yes." They both said in unison. I met their eyes but they quickly turned away. "I'm sorry if I did something awful." I apologized. "Oh no, I'm sorry my lady. We're... nervous that's all." I gave them my genuine smile. "Don't be. Are you two a second year?" I asked. They nodded while taking their seat. Ophelia spread some papers to both of them and started to tell them what they should do. Since Ophelia is in the second year, she can't have her own soeur yet. But Stella and Luna let their soeur to help Ophelia because dealing with the academy's account and expenses is hard work for one person. "Will you be going home or staying at the dorm tonight?" Stella asked. "Going home. I was summoned to be with my family tonight. Although I'm sure why I have to go. It's compulsory." To think I have to meet my brothers and sisters tonight, hmm. Such a drag. "Alright then. Do you need a lift? Or do you want me to call for the chauffeur?" Luna asked. "I drove myself today," I said. I noticed Ophelia staring at me. "Yes, Ophelia?" I asked my treasurer. "How come you let Maya eat your homemade cooking while we, your childhood friend didn't even get to taste anything." Here we go again. "I made a little too much in cooking class. That's all." Ophelia doesn't seem to convince. "How did she wander off to your private flower field? I didn't even show her the way since it's a restricted area." I shrugged. "She was harassed this morning. One of my classmates told me since she thought I'm her friend." That gained my attention. She did mention that. "Harassed? By whom?" I asked. "Who else? Lisa Lotte. I warned her though. But who knows what she will do now that you suddenly show yourself up in our classroom. And to add the cherry on top, you even gave her your homemade food." Oh no. Did I just make her life even harder now? "A Scion giving an underclassman food and she's not her soeur huh." Stella shaking her head. "Poor soul," Luna added more salt to my wound. "You have no choice but to make her your soeur now. Only that title will save her from constant harassment." Stella added. Again with the soeur?! I sighed. "I will find them. Just not now." I turned to Ophelia. "Hey, wanna be my soeur?" I asked. She shakes her head vigorously. "No way. I have enough work because I'm the president. I don't need to babysit a child." She let out her tongue and chuckled. "Who's the child now?" I said before looking back at the forms. I lost track of time when Stella told me it's almost 6 pm. I clean my side of the table and went to grabbed my bag and car keys. "Aren't you girls going home as well?" I asked. "In a minute," Stella replied. I bid my goodbyes to everyone and the rest of the student in the mansion. I use the back door and it went straight to where I parked my car. After unlocking and went inside the car, I decided to put on a music before driving home. I can't help but have such a heavy heart to meet my family. Don't get me wrong, I love my family but... they just... what's the perfect word for it? Annoying? Yes. Annoying. I finally arrived home and turned off the engine. I didn't get to opened the door myself when someone did. "Hey, little sister." I was shocked to see my older brother greeted me. "Thank you Hezner. I didn't know that you're coming as well. When did you come back?" I asked my brother while taking his hand as he helped me up the stairs. "A couple of hours ago. How are you?" He asked. "I'm good." He let my hand go and we both walked inside. "Do you think she will come tonight?" He asked. I'm pretty sure he meant our older sister, Aura. "She probably will. But at least Harriet will be covering for you." His face finally lightened up. He's always been afraid of Aura since they were kids. Harriet, being the middle child will always be the voice of reason whenever those two had their fight. "Aurora. I have a question." Asked my little brother, Octavius. "What is it?" I smiled. "Is it true you gave a homemade food to a commoner?" How did he .... the hell! The news spread as far as the all-boys school?! "Aurora you're my twin sister. Whatever you did reflect on me as well. Why would you even care about a commoner?" Octavius asked. "Octavius, that's not nice of you to say." Harriet showed herself to us with her husband, Gordon. "Everyone is the same regardless of their status and background," Harriet added. "But still, why?" He asked. "I want to thank her for sharing her lunch to me. That's it." All of my siblings face me. "You actually ate a food prepared by a commoner?" Octavius asks with a hint of disgust. "That's enough Octavius." Hezner hit the back of Octavius's head. "That's hurt you know." He said while rubbing his head. "Good. Let's hope the pain goes to your foul mouth." Hezner replied. "Aura, hey! Long time no sees." Octavius announced. Hezner ran to my back and hid from being seen. "Do whatever you have to do." He said while using my body as his shield. "Brother. That's not very gentlemen of you." I said while snickering. "Seems like old days when I came home this house. And of course, my dear little brother Hezner hiding behind a woman of all people. How low can you be?" Aura, as always, so intimidating! Probably that's the reason she's still single. "Aren't you all too old for this?" Thank God that the old man decided to intervene! "Daddy! You actually at home?" Aura asked. "Of course. I am the one who called for this family to assemble." He makes it sound like we're some avenger. He turned to me. "Hezner, stop using Aurora as your shield." My brother didn't let my arms go at all. He knows that Aura will never try to do anything when I'm near him. "Come on, dinner is served," Mom announced. I can't believe this grown man even took the empty seat beside me. He really afraid of Aura huh. "Aurora dear.." dad called me out. "Yes, daddy?" He looked up to me. "I heard from Harriet that you haven't found your soeur. How come? No one wanted to associate themselves with our family? Should I do something about that? For a generation, there's none of the female Heroux failed to have their own soeur. Even your sisters, who, let's just say out of control when it comes to .... normal life." I chuckled at dad's comment. "Why is finding a soeur and being a grande soeur really important? I don't see why." My family gasped. "I will pretend that I didn't hear that." Mom said while shaking her head. "Having a soeur meaning you actually part of the tradition in Monarch. You're the sixth generation of Scion, you should know that." Aura explained. "Tradition. I've been hearing that word since this morning. Tradition this, tradition that. Aren't old tradition mean to be renewed? We shouldn't dwell on the past. The academy needs to be in the future." Aura glared at me. "Is that why the first thing you did as Scion was to let every single student have free lunch food?" Aura asked. "Your well aware that those expenses, will come out from your own account. Right?" She added. I nodded. "Of course. We agreed on that since the academy will be receiving a normal and ordinary student from the other school. You think a student like them can afford to eat our cafeteria food?" I asked my sister back. "Hmmm... so cooking a homemade meal for a new student is what you will do from now on?" She bantered. I sighed. "I told you, I was just thanking her for sharing her food to me. Why is it so hard for you people to understand that little info. There's no harm in saying thank you to those who helped us." Aura leaned back in her chair and sighed. "I can't win against you." She said. Dad laughed as I won the banter. "You have my boldness, Aurora. I am proud. I just hope Hezner have some courage to do so as well." He sighed. "Aurora also possessed your bad habit of gambling. I know what you did." Mom suddenly said something. I froze up. "Gambling? Is that true, sister?" Harriet asked. "Oh, she did. I am not fond of this action, Aurora." I gave everyone my nervous laugh. "You did? What kind of gambling you did?" Dad asked while winking at me. I smiled. "GLEN! THIS ISN'T SOMETHING YOU SHOULD BE PROUD OF!" Mom shouted. Dad smiled. "Oh come on Autumn." Mom slammed her hand on the dining table, shutting him up. "Aurora was gambling on a piece of land. She even decided to spend more than 10 million on it." How did she know that?! "You should have a reason to bet that much for a piece of land right?" Dad asked. I nodded. "Stella and I bet that much because she kept on raising her betting. I never lose before. Why should I be afraid." I shrugged. "You're a lady! Do not gamble that much!" Mom warned me. "It's just some amount she found under her bed. Don't worry, Autumn." Dad supported me. "Glen! I swear!" I winked at my dad. "Oh daddy, I'm sorry for spending so much. I just need that piece of land. It's for our own leisure as well. I promised to pay you back." I promised. Mom shaking her head no. "You need to fix that problem of yours. You're a Scion now for God sake." Ahhh. Here comes the lifelong lecturing. "Mommy, if Aurora said she can win, she can. She's a genius gambler." Hezner said. "Do not encourage your little sister to be like your father!" Mom spat. She really does hate gamblers. She actually forces her own husband to go on a program for his problem. "I'm not an addicted gambler. Don't worry." I said to my mom while finishing my dinner. "You bet 10 million for a piece of land." Mom shaking her head. "Also she played against all those top-notch gamblers who came from all kind of background when we were in Vegas. You were lucky to even walk out alive!" Harriet suddenly said. Dad suddenly laughed. "Oh, I remember that. I was move-in tears. My little girl was playing against all those idiots and even won few million." Dad continued to laugh. Honestly, I love that old man. "Mommy, daddy does have a problem," Octavius said. "Why did you even passed down your awful trait to Aurora... I blame myself for that. I'm sorry Aurora." What the hell mom? Somehow I think this dinner has lost its purpose. I'm sure that old man has something he wants to talk about with all of us. That's the only explanation when he even summoned Aura. "Oh! I almost forgot." He suddenly said. "Your mother and I have something to announce." My parents both turned to me with a smile on their face. "Aurora, honey, this weekend will be the moment you finally meet your fiancée's family," Dad announced. My eyes widen. What the hell?! I hate that old man!
