MAYA'S POV
"I don't know what you did at the academy but why is there a white limousine waiting for you outside?" Asked my mom.
"Please don't tell us you did something bad." My dad decided to join us. "No. It's just... I agreed to become someone's sister." I sighed. It's been a week since I became Aurora's soeur and the harassment game still going strong.
I don't have to mention the countless bullying I receive as well. They still can't get over that a commoner like me manage to be the Scion's soeur. I can't help but fall in love with the offer being Aurora's soeur.
Free tuition, free everything. It's the least I could do for my parents and brothers. It makes me sound like a jerk but at least I know they can have their own expenses now that they don't have to think about my tuition here.
"Momma, dad, don't worry. I'm in good hands." I assure them. When I heard someone knock on the door, I volunteered myself to open it.
To my surprise, a man in tailor suit smiling at me. "I'll be your chauffeur for today. My name is Eli." I opened the door and invited him in.
"Who's your guest, Maya?" Asked momma. "My name is Eli... I'm one of the Heroux's chauffeur." My parents were astounded.
"Heroux? Why does someone who works for the Heroux family coming here?" They both turn to me. "Maya, what have you done?" They asked in unison. I sighed. Maybe it's time to tell them the truth.
They know I am a Soeur but not to whom.
"I am Aurora Heroux Soeur," I announced. I never saw my parent's jaw drop like that before. "You mean THE Aurora Heroux is your grande soeur?" Momma asked. Eh, hold on. How did she know about the grande soeur? I never recall telling her that part.
"You look familiar, ma'am." Momma smiled. "Really? I think I've changed for the better." Momma said. Huh. What's going on? "We never told you this but your mother was once part of the elite society," Dad explained. I don't think I ever felt so surprised in my life!
"No way. Your kidding us right?" My brother, Leon said. "Nah. That was a long time ago." Momma said. Hold on. I think I'm getting the picture here. "Did you and dad work your ass off just to send me to Monarch because you were a student there, Momma?" Momma smiled. "Yes. It was the best years of my life, being a Monarch student."
I never saw Momma smiling that big before.
"Oh yes! Now I remember. I'm sorry for not greeted you earlier, Lady Harmony Blyton." Blyton?! As in the Blyton Industry?! Both my brothers and I look at Momma. "But, I never would've to guess now that you ....." the chauffeur didn't want to finish his words.
"I used to work as Lady Autumn's chauffeur when she was in Monarch herself. You're her best friend." He changed his words. "Still are. She's the only person that still recognized me as her friend. The rest is history." Momma said while putting an extra plate on the table.
"So the stories were true? You were banished from your family's will. Lady Harmony you're the first child. You have the right to have part of the Blyton's wealth. How could they do this to you.." the chauffeur look around the house? "But, this is home. A peaceful home for me and my family."
Momma invited him to join us for breakfast.
"It's not much like you usually have in the Heroux household but please do take care of Maya for us. She's quite a handful but she's a good girl." I blushed.
She doesn't have to say that. I'm always in my best behavior when I'm in Monarch. "I wouldn't worry much. The Scion probably taught her a thing or two about being a well-mannered young lady."
After we're done with breakfast, it's time for us to go. I forbid the chauffeur to open the doors for me because I can see my neighbors beginning to feel uneasy. I sighed heavily.
"They probably thought I involved in some kind of situation where I was in a relationship with a mafia or something."
The chauffeur chuckled. "What's so funny sir?" He laughed. "Oh please. Don't call me sir. Call me Eli." He smiled while looking at the rearview mirror. "I never would've to guess you're the daughter of Lady Harmony. I mean.. despite the skin color and all." I chuckled.
He turned pale. "I'm sorry my lady. Please forgive me. I didn't mean to be rude. It's not like I don't judge you're being the white one in her family." I laughed at his reaction.
That never gets old. Since I was in elementary, my friends who came home to a study group or just hanging out would be surprised to see how different my family is. I mean, they're black. It's obvious that I am not. But, I was grateful that they adopted me.
Well, more like they found me in the piles of trash. If they didn't take me in, I probably wouldn't even be here right now.
"Miss Maya, are you aware of the situation your in now that Lady Aurora is your grande soeur?" He asked. "Well, they told me a few things about being her soeur. Since last week I've been cramming the books of being a proper lady."
"Well, part of being the soeur of Lady Aurora is to handle that." Handle what? I look out of the windows and my mouth forms a perfect 'O'.
"What the hell? Where did these people come from?" I asked Eli. "Lady Aurora is considered as a celebrity in the elite world. She has many ..... admirers and always under the spotlight for her hobbies." What hobbies? I sighed. "What shall I do?" I Asked. He hummed.
"Just act like a perfect lady and say, no comment. That always works... for the past Soeur that serving the Heroux's sisters." Did he mean that Aurora's sisters were the past Scion? "Can we just leave them be?" I asked.
"No miss. If you do that, the Scion will have to endure this. You suppose to act as a distraction for the lady to enter the academy property. Lady Aurora is on her way now." I sighed.
I watched as these human act like hungry animals waiting to be fed in a zoo. I squinted my eyes when they constantly taking pictures of the car and waited for whoever will be going out of it.
I can't help but think how can the past Soeur handle this? Eli got out and went to my side. He opened the door and before I could even get out, those blinding flashing lights made me jumped back inside.
I built up my courage and show myself to the public eye.
"ITS THE SOEUR! Can we have a moment please!!" I heard someone shouted.
"Miss Maya! It is true that your just a regular high school girls just weeks ago?!" How did they know that? Plus, how did they know my name?
I followed what Eli said, being a lady and just flaunt my fake superiority. "No comment," I said out loud and managed to walk through the seas of humans before a guard closes the gate.
I sighed. I salute little old Eli who's got caught by those humans. "Miss Maya." A female voice greeted me. "Follow me please." She took my backpack and lead the way. Whoa.. a real-life maid. They actually exist?!
"I am one of your servants miss." Huh. What? Servant? What does she mean by one then? There's more?!
Is this even a school anymore?
"Miss Maya, would you want me to prepare breakfast?" She asked. "No. I've had mine at home. I just want to go to my class." She nodded and lead the way through the garden.
When we arrived at the classroom building, she let me walked in first before she followed me from behind. I noticed more eyes staring at us but I decided to ignore it and entered my classroom.
To my surprise, another maid is waiting for me at my table. "Huh..." the maid from earlier handed me my backpack and excuse herself.
"Hi.. who are you?" I asked the maid standing by my table. "I am one of your servants. We receive specific orders to be here." Specific orders?!
I didn't get to asked her even further when Mrs. Topaz entered the classroom. "Oh... here we go again." She chuckled when she looked up to the maid beside me. She began the homeroom by roll call our names. How can my life change from being that girl from the block to this.... lavish kind?
"Miss Maya, the class is starting. You were sighing." I look up to the new history teacher and gave my nervous laugh. "I'm sorry... Carry on." I was glad he didn't get mad at me or something.
"As a soeur Of Lady Aurora, you need to focus in class. Whatever you do will reflect on Lady Aurora as well." The maid said when she showed me which part the teacher is at.
"We don't want Lady Aurora to lecture us about this. Right?" She smiled. I sighed mentally. She's right. If she knows, I will never get the peace and quiet ever again.
When she knew I wasn't paying attention in the student government meeting, she summoned me to meet her sister Harriet and started lecturing me about being a lady and how this training will come in handy in the future.
Stella and the rest of the presidents told me that she's just being a Heroux and all she wanted for her soeur is to have a future that goes beyond wildest imagination.
Lady Harriet, the director of this academy told me that her own soeur when she was in Monarch now has her own company to run. I never would've had guess that she's also a Scion. That show how powerful the recommendation from this academy has.
"Miss Maya, the teacher is asking you a question." That jogged my attention back to reality. "Yes?" I stood up and look up to him.
"I was asking you how do a large corporate company avoid themselves from getting into a large sum of debt." Huh? This is economics class. What happened to the history class?
"Easy. Being wise in every investment." I announced. "Care to explained even further?" The teacher and the rest of the class turned their attention to me. I started to explained what I have learned from my study session with Aurora.
She may be young but her mind works like a machine! She's perfect in every way.
"Good. Your explanation sounds like what Lady Aurora would say. I see she's been teaching you about some stuff huh." The teacher was satisfied with my answer. I sighed in relief when I seated again.
It's finally lunchtime and once again the maid changes. Just how many maids did she place under me?
"You probably wondering why do we maids change every time you went to a different location." Said them maid with a smile. I nodded. "Well, we have our own specialty. That's all I can say... for now." She winked.
"Miss Maya, Lady Aurora would like to meet you and have lunch together. Follow me please." I nodded and followed the maid. She leads me to the cafeteria and showed me where Aurora is.
Before I could process the fact that I'm here to see Aurora, a group of girls forbid me from going any further. "Miss Maya?" I heard the maid's voice calling for me.
I can't even see her when these girls stopped her from getting to me and surrounded me like a wall. "Can I help you?" I asked them all calmly. "We're just curious. How can somebody like you manage to gain Lady Aurora's attention?"
Oh, this s**t again. "I don't know. Ask her yourself." I said that earned me a hard slap across the face. "Commoners like you shouldn't receive special care from our Scion. That's just not fair." I sighed. "If you have problems with the way she's doing her job why not confront her yourself. She's standing at the first-floor balcony right now."
They all froze up when I mentioned that little information. Aurora smiled and motioned for the three presidents to followed her to where I am.
"We are dead!! This is why I said no in the first place!" I heard some of the girls said. "Do you think she saw us slapping her?" Asked the other girls near me.
"Maya, are you alright?" I nodded when Aurora asked me. "If you have something to say, why not say it in front of me. I am her grande soeur." Aurora said while she raised her hand to Stella. "Better yet, slap me like you slapped her before. Well... I'm waiting now."
Aurora was literally waiting. The girls bow in front of her and apologized before excusing themselves. They really afraid of her huh.
"Hmmm. I was hoping they would tell me why they always harassing you. Oh well, I hope you're fine. Does it hurt?" She touched my redden cheek. "I'm fine." Suddenly my stomach decides to be a nuisance and made a sound for everyone to hear.
I blushed in a deep shade of red while Aurora and the presidents just smiled at me.
"Why don't we just go on and have our lunch. Okay?" Aurora said while taking my hands towards the stairs.
I have never been to the first floor of the cafeteria before. It's so... wow. We took a seat at the empty table and she ordered the food for us. Now that we're together, maybe I should ask her about something.
"Umm. Aurora.. may I ask you some question?" She nodded. "Do you know anyone named Harmony Blyton?" I asked.
She places her glass of water down and thinks for a second. "I may hear of her name from my mother's story when she was in Monarch. Why do you ask?" She smiled.
"I'm curious, that's all." She hummed. "She's one of my mother's best friend. Still is. But she was banished from her family because of love. My mother tried to help her but she refuses. I heard she have two sons. She refuses to go to the academy's reunion even after my mother begged for her to come." Oh, Momma.
"How is she?" Aurora asked. "Huh?" She smiled. "Harmony Blyton or should I say, Harmony Clementine, She's your mother, isn't she? How is she?" I nodded.
"She's fine." She tilted her head. "What's wrong?" She asked. Why does she have to be so cute like that! Hold on, what am I saying? I sound like a pervy lesbian just now.
"It's just that, I never receive any normal reaction when I told them I am adopted by them. They often .... make fun of me." Our food arrived just in time. The maid from before smile at me.
"Why would they make fun of you?" She asked. "Well, I'm the ugly duckling the family. My brothers are both handsome men. My momma is beautiful and my dad is charming while I'm just that kid they found in the pile of trash."
"Don't say that." Stella suddenly said something. "Don't ever say that. Yes, we're the lowest of the low but please, don't say that." Huh? Lowest of the low? We? What does she mean?
"I'm sorry for that. Stella is sensitive when it comes to that. She's experienced the same thing as you did when she was just a few days old. But, the Flame family found her abandoned inside their private forest with ants biting her flesh."
I don't know how to react to that. "The scars always remind me of that. But my family, they accepted me with open arms. After they took me in, my mother, she had my little sister and brother." She smiled.
"See, it's not always bad. We're lucky to have such a beautiful adopted family yes?" I agreed. I am grateful.
"We need to do something about this. Our academy shouldn't have any social issues like bullying. We're the prestigious academy after all." Ophelia said while cutting her steak.
"I agreed with Ophelia on that. This matter shouldn't be in this academy. We're producing well-mannered young ladies after all." Luna added.
Aurora was in deep thoughts. "Oh, there you two are. Come, join us." Stella said to her soeur. Luna smiled at her own soeur. They smiled at me. "What's going on?" Stella's soeur asked me.
"They're discussing the current social issues," I whispered back. I don't why I'm whispering.
"Do we have the list of troublemaker?" Aurora asked her presidents. "Of course we do. And the list keeps on growing. Our disciplinary squad made their rounds." This academy has its own disciplinary squad?!
"Hmmm. Organise a trip for those troublemakers. I think I have an idea for them to be 'fix'." Aurora announced. A trip?
"Where to?" Luna asked. "Hmm. After long hard and difficult decision making..." I thought she was just thinking about it a few minutes ago. "The Heroux Mountain." All three president gasped.
"Excuse me, where is this Heroux Mountain?" I asked. Aurora smiled. "It's just a small private mountain my family own. Its purpose is when we want to camp out or something." Aurora explained.
Oh... a campsite. Camping trip huh? That's actually sound nice. "That's the good side of the mountain. The real purpose was to train the Heroux special force."
Special force?! Why does a family need a special force, to begin with?!
"Isn't that perfect for our little activity? Those troublemakers need to be shaping up after all." Stella hummed. "You got a point there. I don't mind organizing their training regiment." Luna smirked.
Training regiment? Isn't this suppose to be a trip? Why does the student need to do a training regiment?
I'm so lost right now.
"Is it okay for us to organize such trip at the beginning of the semester?" At least Ophelia is the only reasonable one here. "Let's just say it's part of the education plan?" Stella suggested. No... Stella, you suppose to against it.
"Ummm. Do we have to do it too? The training?" I asked. They all turned to me.
"No silly. We will be the one who will laugh at them for doing such things." Stella said while chuckling. "Don't you want to laugh at the person who's been harassing you?" Aurora asked me.
Is she seriously asking me that now?
"Well now that you mention it... I do want to see them in trouble." I said while looking away. Aurora chuckled. "Stella, Luna, Ophelia, informed the students who will be participating but be discreet about the real purpose of the trip. Let me handle getting the permission from Harriet." The presidents smile.
"As you wish, my lady." They all said in unison.
I'm not sure what will happen but I hope nothing bad will happen.
