14: STRENGTHENED BOND

1924 Words
As her eyes were closed, Jennie began controlling her breathing a couple of times until she began releasing some energies that were flowing everywhere. Her energy had multiple layers of colors that could harm and heal anyone around her. But it was alarming for Lemar. He sensed it and immediately checked what Jennie was doing. He was surprised since he had never seen Jennie release such power. “She’s indeed something.” He smirked in fascination and decided to do something for his mate as his sign of gratitude. “I had to do something for her. She helped me a lot.” While Lemar was starting to get busy in the kitchen, Jennie, on the other hand, kept meditating. She was making sure that her erratic energies subsided and calmed down to prevent them from harming those people she cared about. It took her a couple of minutes to finish and when she did, a very delicious aroma began to hit her nose. “That’s tasty…” Jennie smiled at how tasty the aroma was until something hit her making her eyes widen. “Wait, a minute, please, don’t tell me…” With worry that Lemar might burn her kitchen, she began running back inside and saw Lemar preparing their meal. She made a quick scan all over the kitchen and she was glad that there was nothing wrong with it. “You know you don’t have to do it.” Jennie's composed tone, interrupted Lemar as she forgot the worry she had a few seconds ago. “But I want to.” he smiled at her as he finished his platting. She found it sweet but recalled her family routine and for her to witness the reaction Lemar might show. “And you also know that I can’t eat here due to family…” “Oh! Sorry, I forgot that…” Lemar’s glowing smile faded and turned into a simple one. “You can reheat it and eat it tomorrow then.” Jennie smiled and decided to have an early dinner with him.“On the second thought, let’s eat together for a change.” “Are you sure?” he asked as he watched Jennie grab the plate that he was about to wrap with food wrap. “I don’t want to impose your family routine or something…” “You’re not, you are my mate and besides there’s also I want to discuss you with if you don’t mind talking about it.” She smiled yet her words held some heaviness that didn’t escape from Lemar’s sensitive hearing. “Sound serious but okay, let’s eat first.” Lemar agreed and went to sit beside her. They had a wonderful early dinner with some chill conversations without Jennie being annoyed with Lemar’s scent or having a teasing banter around each other. But when they both noticed something changing around them, they looked at each other as if they were talking about it and then they just jolted. There were sudden binding chains echoing in the background making them look around the cabin yet there were none. “Do you know what’s happening?” Lemar asked as he stood beside Jennie protectively. “I am not sure but…ah.” Jennie held Lemar’s arm when something began to carve on Jennie’s chest. “Sage.” He turned and looked worried at her. “What’s wrong?” “I’m…not sure…” she groaned as she ripped her top clothing making Lemar’s eyes widen. He was about to say something but he could not divert his attention to what was happening to Jennie. Lemar just stared at her since Jennie was trying to scratch her chest where Lemar’s hands prevented her from doing so. Not until Lemar noticed the mark that was forming over Jennie’s chest. “That mark…” he muttered and the more he stared at it, he leaned closer for some odd reason and started licking it. “W-what are y-you doing?” she almost moaned at what Lemar had just done. The pull of their bond was getting harder to resist anymore now that it was getting deeper than before. “Just tell me if you feel better.” He did not answer but he continued licking Jennie’s burning mark that carving on her chest that was almost down to her breast. “S-stop, L-Lemar…” the burning sensation that Jennie felt finally subsided. “I’m good now.” “What just happened?” Lemar asked as soon as he pulled away from her. “You had the same mark as mine.” Jennie was flushed to what just suddenly happened but she still managed to respond to him. “This is my old mark that appeared when a hunter’s guild was built near our pack’s border.” “What do you mean?” he wondered. “Trust me I don’t understand either why it suddenly appeared back then but when I turned adult, it was gone like it was not even there until now.” Jennie shook her head before she arched her left eyebrow causing Lemar to let go of her arms. Both of them were blushing from it. “Do you think it had any connection to what I had or to what happened to the Hunters Guild Society?” he might be shy but still wondered. “Maybe to what you had on your chest but I am not sure if it also has something to do with the fall of your guild.” She glanced over the mark reappeared on her chest. “I see, so, what do you want to talk about?” Lemar nodded and changed that subject for the meantime. “Speaking of, what do you clearly remember about your fallen guild before you were reborn again?” she directly asked while trying to read him. “Hm, the HGS or the Hunter Guild Society was like any other hunter guild that the DIP organization spread out at each kingdom. We’re here to support the night creatures and humans in dealing with something that can’t be dealt with alone. But something happened…” he started explaining to his mate. “What happened, Lemar?” she curiously asked. “I think you already saw it since you’re a witch. My partner, I mean, my lover died and our chief took that opportunity to hand me privately a certain file that I had burned since it was classified.” He answered what he could only tell her at the moment. “Is it about what?” she wondered while staring directly at Lemar. She was reading him like an open book but when Lemar thought about the file, Jennie could not see further about it. It was locked which impressed Jennie since he managed to make it blur or empty but it was not showing on her expression. “I can’t share it with you at the moment, I hope you understand.” Lemar only told her what he could in the meantime and Jennie understood it completely. “Alright, if you’re ready to tell me about it then, let’s talk through our mind then.” Jennie calmly told him and gathered their dirty plate before putting them in the sink. “Oh, speaking of mind-link how can I do that because you already could read mind?” he was ecstatic as he asked his mate about it. “Touch my mark.” She stopped cleaning the dishes and faced Lemar. “W-what?!” he was surprised and Jennie found it cute but still dared him when her nose started to itch. “Touch it before I flip you since your scent was starting to irritate my nose again.” She rolled her eyes and Lemar gulped as he hesitated a little. “Alright, if you allow me then.” he took the courage and began to trace the mark on Jennie’s chest. As Lemar was tracing it gently something, Jennie shivered but Lemar noticed something over Jennie’s mark. It was glowing and it was calming him down surprisingly, he leaned his forehead against it. “What is it?” Jennie asked calmly as she ignored the warm feelings that were radiating around her. “Home.” Lemar snuggled closer to her and his mate might be looking surprised but it softened as a loving smile showed up on Jennie’s lips. ‘Same here.’ She whispered through her mind and Lemar’s eyes shot open before he looked at her while smiling. “What?” Lemar didn’t say anything but smile and just placed a kiss on her forehead. “Nothing.” Jennie blushed and was about to hit his shoulder when she suddenly jolted. Her calm expression immediately sternly turned into something dangerous. Lemar felt it too. There was a sudden rush passing through his veins and he released a very low growl. Both of them looked at each other since they both knew that they were connected even more. “Felt connected?” Jennie asked for assurance. “Indeed, we do now,” Lemar smirked as he responded. She smirked but she clicked her tongue in annoyance as her hands started to glow as well. “But seriously, I hate when I’m being disturbed on my rest time.” “Rogues,” Lemar growled about what he just sensed and Jennie jolted from it. “Wanna have some fun?” she smirked as she began on cracking some stiff parts of her body. “Pleasure.” He did the same thing but Jennie pulled him and made him face her. She flicked his forehead before placing her palm on where his mark was. “Let me cloak you with something and please, don’t shift as much as you can.” “But if I don’t some might recognize me.” Lemar got that but worried that some rogue might notice him. “Who said that you still had the same face before when you were still a hunter?” She winked at him as she went to the garden. “You mean, my face had changed?” he was puzzled but sounded like an ecstatic kid. “That’s wicked.” “Lemar, hush now.” She shook her head and stretched her body one more time and then slyly smirked at him. “Think about it later but for now. Let me release my annoyance on them unless you want it to be on you.” Lemar shivered and ran ahead of his mate. “Nope. Let’s go, what are you waiting for? C’mon.” “It seems he doesn’t want to face my temper.” Jennie chuckled as her feet began to have a floating ring around it and made her dash like a vampire as she went after her mate. Arriving on the scene, Lemar was already in the middle of his combat and was about to receive a fatal hit when Jennie’s familiar magic began to appear before him and deflected the attempt of the rogues. He took that as an opening and used his wolf strength without shifting and knocked out the two rogues with his punch and kick. “Ducked,” Jennie told Lemar and quickly jumped over his back to give a kick to the charging rogue. When it received direct contact, it went flying and went unconscious. “So you can kick.” Lemar praised him. “Want some?” she coldly asked causing him to shiver. “Nope.” He quickly responded. "I don't want to."
