8: GET SOME HELP

1996 Words
“WOKE UP LIKE THIS?! p*****t, I DIDN’T r**e YOU!” Jennie scoffed as she was beyond reason. ‘Why she was thinking that she r**e me?’ Lemar was confused when he suddenly heard that before countering. “OBVIOUSLY, YOU WON’T. YOU’RE NOT THAT KIND OF GIRL.” “LEAVE MY CABIN NOW!” That furious voice from Jennie sent a good shiver down Lemar’s spine. “I CAN’T LEAVE NAKED AND BESIDES, I JUST WOKE UP IN MY HUMAN FORM…” he shouted his reason. “SO PLEASE, SAGE…” “Wait, human form?” that caught Jennie’s attention making all things around the cabin float before asking for clarification. “Lemar?” “Finally!” Lemar sighed in relief before showing himself behind the counter island. “I thought you would kill me,” he said making Jennie glare at him and he gulped. “Okay, okay, but can I borrow something to cover me up before I explain things?” “Here.” Jennie magically grabbed a robe from nowhere and handed it to Lemar without looking. “Now, spill the tea.” After Lemar wore the robe, he shyly scratched the back of his nape before speaking. “Well, I am not sure how it happened but…” “But what, i***t?” Jennie was starting to get grumpy in the morning. “Did you just call me an i***t?” Lemar sternly looked at her. Jennie rolled her eyes and bluntly responded. “I did so continue, please.” “Fine, what I could remember, I was just stretching and about to get something to drink when I noticed my body wasn’t heavy or big.” Lemar just continued what he was about to say since his mate was already grumpy in the morning. “Okay, do you remember what time was it?” Jennie asked. “Just a few minutes before you wake up.” He answered before continuing. “I was about to cook something but yeah, you could me being clumsy since when I’m used to being in a wolf form, I suddenly shift back into my human. So, yeah…” “Argh, but your scent still does it.” She groaned grumpily. “I’ll get you something to wear. I think Mikyle’s clothing will fit in you.” She added as she began to continue what Lemar was trying to do - pancakes and bacon. “After breakfast, I’ll take you downtown to buy your stuff.” “Do you think I am ready to go out?” Lemar worriedly asked. “I mean, I might shift back into…” he tried to clear what he was trying to say to his mate when he suddenly shifted back into his wolf form again. “Just like I was saying…” Jennie found it cute but she seriously told him what she thinks. “We need to balance your emotions as a human and wolf so you can easily shift back and forth.” “And how to do that?” he wondered. “I’ll ask my siblings since they were a shifter and obviously, I am not,” she suggested. “Adopted?” he guessed and Jennie nodded. “Yeah, my parents died when I was ten. We’re a traveling entertainer, like gypsies or street magicians.” she started sharing about her past since she knew Lemar’s past as a hunter already. “But, on our way here, were being made by rogues and fallen ones, and they found me. They took me in and gave me these.” “I see.” he nodded in understanding and didn’t ask about it anymore before wondering about something. “When I could train my shifting?” “Later, after Mikyle’s training since I’m going to drag my sister shopping.” She answered as she flipped the last pancake on the pan. Lemar asked. “And your Dad?” but before Jennie could respond to that, Lemar shifted back again into his human form. “Argh! Good thing, I’m wearing a robe.” Jennie chuckled at his cute reaction. “I’ll meet him later,” she answered before she sneezed a little. “This breakfast was for you.” “And you?” he wondered. “Family tradition to eat breakfast together.” She sadly smiled since she still wanted to talk to him even though his scent irritated her big time whenever she smelled it. “But go ahead and eat, I’ll still have my coffee with you.” “Much better.” He grinned. She smiled until she recalled something. “Oh, my advice, channel your energy since you have two, one from your hunter side and the other one from your wolf.” she gave him some advice to help him out around his sudden shifting. “By the means of channeling, it was either meditation or sole-combat training.” “Okay, I’ll do that after this.” he agreed. “Good, so eat up.” she ushered and watched Lemar eat his pancakes while she drank her coffee. “I wonder what’s his connection to the event that happened in their guild.” After a while, Jennie flicked Lemar’s forehead out of the blue before she magically vanished before his eyes. Lemar knew that Jennie cast something on him since he could feel it and he didn’t mind, instead, he went to the garden of the cabin and started doing what his mate told him. On the other hand, Jennie appeared behind her siblings and jumped on them. “JENNIE SAGE!” Mikyle reacted first while holding his chest. Jennie was giggling. “YOU GAVE US A HEART ATTACK!” Welhima reacted too. “For a wolf like you, neh.” She stuck her tongue out teasingly at them which they smiled at. It’s very rare for them to witness her childish side. “Whatever. It's still scary when you’re the one who does that.” He pointed out but Jennie didn’t care at all. “So, what is it?” Welhima changed the subject since she knew well Jennie whenever she acted like that to them. “You won’t sneak up like that if you won’t ask a favor.” “Well, Lemar needed your wolfy help.” She chuckled but lowly told them what she was after. “He needs to learn to shift back and forth because earlier, he could not control it.” “What do you mean?” he wondered. “While speaking, he’ll just shift into his wolf or human form, so, yeah, help him?” she told them and they both nodded. “Okay, I will handle that.” Mikyle volunteered. Welhima thought for a second and started guessing. “Since he was shifting into his human, he needs clothes, right?” “Yeah, so help me with it?” Jennie hopefully asked with her cuteness. “Sure, Sagey.” Welhima could not say no to that expression that Jennie rarely showed to them. But after their breakfast with their father, they could feel some tension coming from Mitchel and none of them uttered any words. Not until Jennie Sage breaks it easily. “So, care to share what’s bothering our alpha’s mind?” Jennie went straight on asking as she took a bite from her meal. “Is it about the wounded hunters in our pack or the issue about their fallen guild?” Mitchel almost choked his food before speaking. “Nothing escapes from you, my youngest.” “Don’t call me that, I stopped aging at 35.” she rolled her eyes and went on eating. “Still you’re our baby.” Zamarah teased. “Mom.” Jennie blushed but glared at her mother. “Dad, please answer, Sissy, we might be able to help you there.” Mikyle seriously opened the topic again. Mitchel sighed. “We need to brace ourselves for whatever happens to the hunter guild around our area. It might cause some disturbance around our peace since the rumors around town were saying that they were betrayed by their own.” He took a sip from his coffee before adding. “I won’t let that happen here.” “I will strengthen our security and Sissy can handle the medical unit,” Mikyle interjected as he volunteered. “I will deal with our patrol units. I’ll be ruthless if they won’t take it seriously.” Welhima added. “I can help you with taunting.” Jennie continued making them laugh. “I want to witness that.” Mikyle agreed. “Kids, enough.” Zamarah was smiling as she stopped them and reminded them of how they could rule around the pack. “Don’t inflict fear in them instead, inflict a kind of service that they won’t dare to betray you.” “Yes, Mom.” the three siblings reacted in unison. Mitchel shook his head as he wondered. “Seriously, sometimes I wonder whose the alpha in our pack?” “Well, I was an alpha before I married you.” Zamarah pointed out. “I know, Alpha rogue, Zamarah. The love of my life.” Mitchel sweetly kissed the cheek of his wife in front of their kids. “Oh, please, get a room.” Welhima reacted while the two were snickering. “Find your mate where you can mushy as well.” Mikyled teased causing Welhima to stomp on his foot. He groaned in pain as she drank her hot chocolate. The day was indeed bright and sunny with a cold breeze as Jennie Sage sneaked out with her sister to stroll around the mall around the town and buy some new clothes, especially for Lemar. But on their last stop, Welhima decided to buy something at the last minute while Jennie heard something from some rogues working around the mall. ‘Have you heard that some jobless rogues were back on what rogues usually are?’ ‘That’s old school.’ ‘I know and it will affect us if we mingle with those types of rogues around here.’ ‘Why do you think that went back to the usual?’ ‘They weren’t like us. The majority of them were jobless or packless to return or mateless to call home .’ ‘I hope they won’t fall into madness.’ ‘Hope so since if they turn into fallen, who knows when the Immortal Bloods or the DIP took over. It will be a bloody case.’ ‘True, whoever was the cause of this, it was indeed looking for a war.’ ‘Hope it won’t turn to that. We’re passed behind the old war.’ ‘True, let’s go back to work.’ “Old war…” Jennie thought carefully after she heard it. “...that could be it.” Welhima patted her sister’s shoulder. “Let’s go, I’m done.” As they headed to the parking space of the mall, both of them felt something strange following them. Welhima went closer to her sister and casually held Jennie’s hand. She secured her sister but Jennie tugged Welhima to head in a different direction where their car was located. Through their mind link, Welhima speaks directly to her sister. ‘Felt that?’ “I thought I was the only one,” Jennie responded as they headed to a car and secretly flicked her fingertips. “But don’t worry, I already cloaked our scent just in case something like this happened.” "I hope they won't do anything or else, I will lose my cool." Welhima controlled her growls from what was tailing them while cracking her knuckles. Jennie chuckled at her sister's reaction while shaking her head. "Don't worry. I already handled it and just act." But three rogues appeared behind them and Welhima faked her human pissed-off reaction. She didn’t growl but exclaimed. “What the f**k?!” “L-leave or w-we'll get s-some h-help.” Jennie acted weakly behind her sister.
