~ Madeline ~ Being awake had felt like running a marathon. I could feel every heartbeat, the energy it took to pull oxygen into my lungs, the effort each word took to push past stiff lips and a thickened throat. My eyes burned, my skin ached all over, and every moment felt like an eternity. After a brief exchange Silver dismissed Dante and after a few more exchanged words I was allowed to slip into sleeps embrace like a well missed friend. Sleep was an odd thing, some days you lay down and sleep is as illusive as a black cat in the dark and some days you lay down and before your head hits the pillow your asleep so deeply and soundly it felt like you’d just closed your eyes when the alarm clock rudely pulls you into wakefulness. And then some nights feel like no sleep was attained at all
