-Helen's Point of View-
As I watch Alpha Haze, his eyes go from green to black and he says, "My Sunshine, my name is Alex. We have waited so long for you." He kisses my forehead and lowers his head to my neck. His voice sounded a little different, more gravely.
I laid my hand on his neck and said, "It's very nice to meet you, Alex. I'm sorry that I don't have a wolf for you." I was feeling a little guilty, not that I could change whether or not I had a wolf.
"My love, you are perfect just the way you are. We are blessed to have you as our mate and partner." He leaned back and looked into my eyes. "Haze is ready to come forward, when you are feeling up to it we will take you for a ride in our wolf form." He kissed my forehead again and then his eyes turned back to green.
"Thank you, it was very nice of you to let me meet your wolf." I smiled, grateful he was comfortable enough with me to do that.
"We are both yours, you should get to meet us both." He smiled back, but I was a little confused about them both being mine thing. I'd have to ask about that another time. "Marian said that if you feel up to it, we should go by and see the doc. What do you think?"
I took a deep breath, I really didn't want to but Marian was right. It had to be done. "Let's get it over with." I looked up and huffed a little, then smiled. That got me a toothy grin from Haze, and it made my heart flutter!
He carried me again and remembered to grab the blanket to cover me. We got some looks from those we passed, but Haze didn't stop to greet anyone. The hospital turned out to be on the first floor of this huge place. When we got there, a nurse was already waiting for us. I wonder how she knew we were coming, We were taken to a very nice room and had Haze set me down on the bed in the room.
"Hi, my name is Stacy and I'll be your nurse today. Marian was here earlier to give us your medical records and the doctor has already looked them over." As she talks, she gathers things from around the room and brings them over to me. She smiles at me and gets me prepped for her to take some blood. She has lovely blond hair put up in a bun and matching hazel eyes.
"It's nice to meet you Stacy, I'm Helen. I'm sorry to inconvenience you guys."
She pats my hand before she gets started. "You're no problem, honey. We're glad to have you here." When she's done, she cleans up and heads out the door. "Doctor Sam will be in soon." She gives us a quick smile and leaves.
I turn to look at Haze, "Marian sure is on top of this."
"She just wants to make sure you're taken care of. I do too. She filled me in a little earlier while you were napping, I hope that was okay." He begins to look a bit worried.
I hold out my hand to him and he comes over to grab it, "I'm glad she's filled everyone in. You needed to know, whether you were my mate or not." He leans down to kiss my cheek and then sits next to me to hold me. We stay like that until the doctor comes in.
He's a fairly young man, must be in his late twenties. He has red hair that looks like fire. As soon as he sees us, a twinkle comes to his eyes and he smiles at us. "Well, well, well. Has our alpha finally found his Luna?"
Haze chuckles a little and nods, "Yes, as a matter of fact, I have. I'd like to introduce you to your Luna, Helen." He says that so proudly that I have tears in my eyes.
Doctor Sam laughs too and reaches over to shake my hand, "I hear you've had a rough time of it lately. I'm sorry. I've gone through you records and while I can't fix anything you have, I think I can make you a bit more comfortable." He continued to tell me which medications he wants to start me on. "I've spoken a little with Marian and I know she wants to start some training with you. She didn't want to tell me what it was for, but you'll need to decide on how much you can and cannot handle each day. When you over exert yourself, come see me and I'll try to make you more comfortable."
"Thanks, Doc. My appointments never go this easily, and I appreciate your kindness." I smiled gratefully at him. I lean on Haze since he is still sitting with me.
"Luna, I would like to check your joints before you go. Just to get an idea of where you're at today." He looks over to Haze, who nods, and then comes closer.
I make a face, "It's not to bad today."
Doctor Sam just raises an eyebrow at me and I sit up so he can do whatever he's going to do. "Not to bad today, huh? You shouldn't ever play poker."
"Ok, fine, but it's been worse than this."
"Anything else in particular giving you a hard time today?"
I think for a minute, "My head hurts a little."
"That's all?"
"Um, well, if I told you everywhere that hurts, we would be here a while."
Doctor Sam eyes me for a minute and then goes to get me something for my head. "Stacy will be here soon with the medicine I want you to start on and I'll be in touch tomorrow after I get your blood work back."
Marian walks in as soon as Doctor Sam leaves. "Good, I'm glad you made it here today."
"Why?" I'm not sure what difference it really made when I came in.
"I just want to make sure that you have whatever medication you need. I also want your progress monitored as your gift continues to awaken as we get closer to your birthday."
Just then Stacy comes in with everything I need in a paper bag. Marian takes it from her before she can even bring it to me. "I'll take care of it." I just shrugged my shoulders.
Haze picks me up and we make our way out of the hospital. "Sweetheart, are you hungry? It's about dinner time."
"Food sounds good to me." I smile at him
"Young one, the clothes I bought you earlier are being washed and should be done by the time you're ready for bed. Everything else I set on your bed."
"Thank you so much Marian, I really appreciate all that you've done for me." I want to ask about my family, but I wait until we've sat down at a table. When we get to the cafeteria, which is located on the other side of the first floor. We get some stairs, but Haze keeps walking until we get to a table he wants to sit at. He and Marian decide to go get us some food and tell me to wait. Two other men join me and I recognize them as the two men who were in the office earlier with Marian, Haze, and I.
One of them reaches over to shake my hand, "Hi, Luna. I'm Beta James and this is Gamma Jacob, but you can just use our first names. It's nice to meet you."
Jacob also reached over to shake me hand. "My mate will be here in a few minutes, she's running late."
"It's nice to meet you both and I look forward to meeting your mate, Jacob." I smile at them.
Haze and Marian came back and sat down with us, saying hello to James and Jacob. Haze put an arm around me and pulled me closer to him. I leaned into him, his touch oddly comforted me. I wonder if that is a mate thing. "Sweetheart, Marian picked out your food. I wasn't sure what you liked."
I raised an eyebrow to Marian and she just shrugged. I reached up and kissed Haze's cheek. His face lit up like the sky on the fourth of July. I need to do that more. In return he kissed my head and then started eating, but kept an arm around me. When I looked up, everyone was staring at us like we were aliens or something. I again raised an eyebrow to Marian. "He is usually a bit grumpier," she winked at me.
We settled down and were joined by a woman, since she sat down next to Jacob I assumed she is his mate. I smiled her way and Jacob introduced us. "Luna, this is my mate, Susanne. Honey, this is Luna Helen."
She squeals, jumps up, and rushes over to hug me. "I'm so glad Alpha finally found you! I hope we can be friends, I'd love to get to know you! Tell me about yourself!"
Haze possessively pulls me away from her. "Honey, come back and sit. We don't want to grill her. You'll have plenty of time to get to know her, I promise." She rolls her eyes, but does as he says. "Plus, I don't' think Alpha is ready to share her." Everyone laughs but Haze.
"Susanne, there isn't much to tell. You could say I'm starting over, I suppose." I look to Marian and she nods her head, I guess that is an affirmative on being discrete about everything in my life before today.
"Helen, I'm going to go check on your clothes and then I'll help you with your shower. I'll be right back." She waits for me to nod before she leaves. My mind drifts starts to drift off. What happens from here on out? I really want to know about my family. Does Haze really want me as his mate for the rest of his life? Will his pack accept me? And what is a Luna?
I'm startled out of my thoughts when someone touches my hand, somehow I already knew it wasn't Haze. I squeeze closer to him and look around to see what happened. "Sorry, Helen. I didn't mean to startle you. You looked a million miles away and I just wanted to make sure you were okay." It was Susanne, man I feel stupid. She had already moved her hand away to show she wasn't a threat to me.
I nod, "I'm sorry, my mind was elsewhere. Sometimes I'm startled if I'm touched and I don't see you coming first." I reached my hand out to her, I wanted her to know she shouldn't be afraid to touch me. She held my hand for a minute and smiled in response. "I also hope we can be friends, I would like to get to know you and learn more about pack life. I got a couple crash courses from Marian and Haze today though."
It was like I had just given her her favorite treat. "Yes, absolutely! I'll see you around tomorrow and we can hang out while Haze works. I can even show you around a bit and introduce you to some people. Well, that is if that's alright with Alpha."
We look to him and he nods in response. "Alright, but you stop when you get tired and if you need me I won't be far."
"Thank you." I kiss his cheek again and he grins at me. Everyone chats until Marian comes to get me, she goes to pick me up but I stop her. "Let me walk until we get to the stairs. I need to stretch them out a little." She glances at Haze and nods slowly, but still helps me up. I pat her hand and thank her then said good night to everyone. I finally look to Haze, wondering if I'm going to see him again tonight.
He must have understood, "I'll see you when you're done, okay?" I nod and smile in response. It feels so strange to be attached to someone I met only hours ago. Is this normal? Is this because of this very strange day? I'll speak to Marian about it.
