I woke up the next morning wrapped in warm, comforting arms. I breathed in deep and turned my head so I could see my mate. He's still sleeping, but pulls me closer when he feels me move.  I am so thankful for this man. Angel: We are going to make it through this, and so will our mate.  Me: I can't live without him Angel. She whimpers a little in my mind.  Me: I'm sorry, I didn't mean to make you sad. How dangerous do you think this demon crap really is? Angel: I'm not sure, it depends on how many original demons are involved. If it's just Marco and his followers I don't think it'll be really bad. Unfortunately, I'll bet anything that he has convinced others to help him. Me: What the hell is an original demon and why has no one mentioned that before? Angel: Um, I don't know why no one has mentioned it. Original demons are the ones who were angels and let the darkness take over them. All the other demons are ones who were turned by the originals.  Me: Can we turn them back? Angel: No one has ever tried to my knowledge. I wouldn't know where to start, but if we are meant to try then it will be one of your gifts. "Baby, are you okay?" I come back out of my mind and focus on Haze.  I smile and bring a hand to his face, feeling his morning stubble.  "Yes, my love. Angel and I were just talking." He leaned forward and kissed my nose, "It didn't seem like a happy conversation. Do you want to tell me about it?" I looked down for a minute and then met his eyes, with tears in mine. "We can't loose you. We can't live this life without you." He wrapped me up tight in his arms, against his chest. "Baby, you won't." "You don't know that." I was crying now.  "I feel the same way about you. I can't live without you, promise me that you will be as safe as you can as things progress with this asshole. I wish I could just hide you away from all of this, but we both know that wouldn't be fair." I chuckled a little, this must be even harder on him and Alex. "We promise to be as careful as you are."  He chuckled too and we just continued to enjoy this time alone.  Knock. Knock. Haze growls, "Who is it?" "Marian."  "Come in." He says grudgingly. I just chuckle at him, but stop as soon as I see Marian's face.  "What's wrong?" I ask, I felt Angel come forward so we could be present together.  "Fifteen cities across the United States have been attacked. Mavric informed me that he had angels investigate and demons were behind the attacks. They managed to get a large number of humans together to willingly destroy property. Several humans were killed, many were injured." "So what do you think this means? What does Marco get out of this?" "I'm not one hundred percent sure. It could be part of his plan, maybe destruction is his main goal. Perhaps he is looking to take over the human race by turning them into demons. Maybe this is only to draw you out. Testing you to see if you will show yourself." She sits on the edge of our bed while she thinks out loud.  "How can he turn humans into demons?" I ask quietly. Angel and I are slowly seeing red, but I'm trying to hold us both back.  To comfort me, Haze starts rubbing his hands on my arms. He had me pulled to his chest with his arms around me.  Marian can't look at me, I see her sweeting. Oops. I must not be doing a good enough job at keeping my anger at bay. I take a deep breath, focusing on Haze's scent.  "Just like angels, humans can allow darkness to fill their hearts. Demons can feel that darkness and tempt the humans to do things that will keep taking little bits of their light away until there is none. When there is no light left, when they make that last choice that pushes them all the way, that is what turns them into demons." She speaks quietly.  I nod slowly, "I guess that makes sense. Do you think there is a way to turn them back? Angel said she doesn't have any knowledge of anyone ever tying?" Marian finally looks me, glancing at Haze before she answers. Her face already gave away her answer though. "No, there isn't a way. Because it is their own choice to allow the darkness to grow, we don't have the ability to bring light back into them."  I nod slowly. I decided not to broach the subject of me possibly being able to bring them back. When an opportunity presents itself, I can try then.  We sit quietly for a few minutes before Marian leaves and Haze and I get up. We don't say anything, but Haze touches me as often as possible to give me comfort and tell me that I wasn't alone in this.  Haze kisses me goodbye when we get out into the hall. He has a meeting that he had forgotten about so he rushed into his office. I made my way to the living room and kitchen to see who was up. Katie was the only one out here.  "Good morning, Katie. How are you this morning?" I smiled at her and sat down next to her.  She smiles back, "I am so well rested. That bed was so comfortable!"  I laughed, "I have to agree, the beds here are amazing." "How are you? I think I checked out before our talk was over last night, but this must be a lot for you. So many changes in a short amount of time." She turned in her seat fully to give me her attention.  "At first I was really overwhelmed, Marian and Haze helped a lot though. Marian kept reminding me to take one thing at a time. Haze has been so great. He is very attentive and comforting to me. I wasn't mated to him, of all people, for no reason."  She nodded and I could tell she was thinking. "So...werewolves, huh?"  I laughed loudly, a full belly laugh. "Yeah, werewolves!" I shook my head a little. "Almost everyone has been so nice and excepting of me, even before I was gifted wings and a wolf."  "Almost everyone?" Her brows creased.  "Yes, there was this one male who was a real ass. Turns out he was responsible for the murder of several pack members a while back." I shook my head, still angry about that.  I felt my anger rise thinking about that and about the talk with Marian earlier.  "Young one! Reign it in!" Marian rushed into the room, followed by my parents, brothers, and the Morgans.  I looked up to her and found her sweating, but looking to Kate. I turned to see her too, although she looked fine to me.  "I'm sorry, Katie. Did I hurt you?" I moved back a little, away from everyone.  She reached her hand out to me and grabbed my hand, "I'm fine. You didn't hurt me, although I think you were sucking some of the oxygen out of the room."  Marian and I c****d our heads at her before looking at each other. Marian shrugged her shoulders at me, clearly not knowing what to say.  I turned back to Kate and focused on her. The more I did, I felt something. I smiled a little as I pulled my focus from her.  "Sis, why are you smiling?" Daniel came over and put his hands on Katie's shoulders.  "It's nothing to concern yourself about. Let's go get some breakfast." I tried to keep a straight face as everyone looked at me with curiosity.  Marian raised an eyebrow at me so I connected with her and told her what I found. She also smirked and looked like she was about to get herself into some mischief.  I motioned for everyone to follow me and I led them down to the cafeteria. Chef Jerry was bringing another batch of food out to the tables with some other omegas.  "Morning, Jerry. This looks amazing, thank you."  "Luna, you look well today. I hope you enjoy. I had a young helper today, I'm sure he'll come out and greet you soon." He smiled at me and everyone behind me.  "Yes, please send him out when he's all done. Jerry, this is my family. Family, this is Chef Jerry."  "Nice to meet you all, enjoy your food." Jerry nodded at everyone and left, not waiting for a response.  I motioned for everyone to follow me as we got our food and I led them to a table.  When we were all seated, dad spoke up. "Honey, what happened this morning with Kate?" "I was having a hard time controlling my anger, Marian felt I was loosing control and was afraid that the power coming off of me might hurt Katie." I smiled a bit sheepishly.  "So why didn't it affect me?" Kate looked at me in curiosity. I'm sure Marian and I are now wearing matching mischievous smiles.  "Like I said, it's nothing to worry about. When the time comes that you need to know,  you will." She huffed and rolled her eyes at me, I just chuckled.  "Today, I will get you more clothing and accessories. If you could write down your sizes and preferred clothing and shoes, I'll get them today. If there is anything else that you need, just write it down." With that, Marian gave Mrs. Morgan a sheet of paper and a pen.  Everyone thanked Marian and did as asked. She had just gotten up to leave when Leo joins us.  He comes over to me to hug me, "Good morning, Leo. Did you have a good time with Jerry?" He nodded and seemed a bit shy since everyone was looking at him.  I put my arm around Leo and began introducing him to everyone. "Everyone, this is Leo. His mom is studying to become a doctor." Everyone said hello to him. "Leo, have you had breakfast yet?" "Yes, Jerry fed me in the kitchen. I got to get to school, we worked it out so I can help a couple days a week with breakfast." He grinned and leaned into me before backing up. I smiled, "Alright, young man. I'll see you later."  "It was nice to meet you all." He turned his smile to everyone else and then made his way on to school. My mom asked, "What happened to him?" I looked at her, "Every pack has guards surrounding the territory perimeter. Both to keep threats out and should anyone, such as humans, come to close, the guards will turn them away. A group of wolves, called rogues, attacked. Leo's father was on duty that day and Leo had snuck away to visit him. Many warriors died that day, but Leo was left injured by the leader." I turned to Kate, "I mentioned there was someone who wasn't kind to me. That male turned out to not only be abusing Leo and his mother, but he was also the one who arranged those rogues to attack." I did better this time at controlling my anger, but I could see some sweet on everyone's faces but Kate's and her mother's. Interesting. I looked away so as to not cause unnecessary attention, but I aloud myself to focus on Mrs. Morgan. I felt what I felt in Kate. I broke my connection and just smiled a little. I wonder if Mr. Morgan knows.  "Why don't I show you all around our territory and later we can figure out if, where, and how you all can work and make sure that James made arrangements with the school."
