Conversation Between Mates

-Helen's Point of View- Marian picked my up before I could start walking up the stairs and didn't put me down until we reached the bedroom I was in earlier with Haze. When she put me down, she went into the bathroom and turned the water on. It sounded like she was running the bath instead of the shower. "I thought a nice hot bath would be nicer than standing in the shower. Don't worry, I'll help you with your hair." She smiles and motions for me to undress. "Marian, why are you so attentive? You only met me today." It was really nice to have so much help, but I really don't want to put her out.  She looks at me like I grew horns on my head. "Why wouldn't I be attentive? You're feeling pretty rough, regardless of what you say. And it's been a pretty strange and hard day for you." She helps me into the bathtub while she talks.  "I know, but most people don't tend to do as much as you have for me. My mom helps with my hair sometimes, but you've gone the extra mile to help me." Don't get me wrong, I'm so thankful for her help. But I don't want to take advantage of her kindness.  She started to soap up my hair and stayed quiet for a minute. "Young one, my first job as an angel is to help others where I can. It does my soul good to know I'm helping you, even if that's just washing your hair or hauling you around. My second job is to train you and keep you safe. I've had a good life, I want to help you have a good life too." I can't see her face, but I'm tearing up.  I turn a bit so I can see her and she can look into my eyes. "Nothing you have done for me has been small to me. You washing my hair saves me so much energy. You carrying me around hurts so much less than walking. I am so grateful, not to mention you saving me and my family from that lousy demon." She wipes my forehead off and kisses me there, then gets back to washing my hair.  "So the clothes I got for you are a little different than your normal. I don't want to change your look completely, but we do need for you to look a little different. Instead of jeans, flannel, and cowgirl boots you have more biker type style clothes and combat boots. Whatever you absolutely won't wear I'll take back and whatever you do like I'll get more of that. If your game, I got some hair dye to put highlights in your hair and some makeup to try out. Don't worry, I'll help you with your makeup. From what I understand you're not that big of a fan." With her behind me, I couldn't see her eyes but I'm sure their twinkling with mischief.  I huff a little about the makeup, and finish up. "Whatever you think is best. Could we do the hair stuff in the morning though instead of tonight?" "We can definitely do that. Oh I also got you paper to write a letter to your family if that is something you want to do. I cannot be at your funeral, but I can give it to someone for you." Marian helped me out of the tub and turned me to look at her. I nodded and thanked her with a hug. I get dressed and sit at a vanity type set up and Marian brushes and dries my hair a little. "I don't think Haze is here yet, but I'm sure he will be soon. Do you want him to bring you anything?" "Do I have any medicine to take tonight?" If I did, I probably should have a drink.  "Yes actually, I'll get them and a drink real quick. This floor is kind of set up as it's own house. Haze's office is just across the hall, to get to the kitchen turn left out of here and you run into the kitchen and living room area. To get to my room, turn right out of here and I'm the last one on the left. Okay?" I nod and she leaves to get my meds.  While I'm waiting, Haze comes in and sits next to me. "How are you feeling?" I smiled, "My bath was very nice, thank you." I think his eyes got darker, but he sort of shook his head.  Before he could respond, Marian comes back and I take what she gives me. "I bought some of your favorite snacks and they're in the kitchen if you get hungry. Have a good night." She winks at us and I see Haze roll his eyes at her.  "Sweetheart, are you ready for sleep or would you like to do something before bed?" "I'm not quite ready for sleep, did you have something in mind?" I kind of c**k my head up to him and we end up staring at each others eyes. I just couldn't look away, I felt so drawn to him. He clears his throat before responding. "Well we could talk for a while, I'm sure you have questions and I'd like to know more about you. Or we could watch a movie if you want." I think he pulled me closer. "Why don't we get to know each better? Do you like popcorn? I can see if Marian bought some." "Okay, I can get the popcorn though so you don't have to get up." He started to get up, but I pulled him back down to the bed.  "I can get the popcorn. If it hurts to much I'm sure you'll find me between here and the kitchen." I smiled and kissed his cheek. "Why don't you get more comfortable clothes on and I'll be back. Unless you want to sit in the living room?"  "Why don't we just talk in here, that way if we fall asleep while talking we don't have to get up again." I nodded and left to find popcorn. When I get there, I find everything I need to make it from scratch. It is so good this way. I start warming the oil in a pot I found and look for a big bowl and the salt and butter. I just poured the kernels in when Haze comes in. He sniffs the air and c***s his head, kind of like a wolf which makes me giggle a little.  "Have you ever had popcorn from scratch?" He comes over to stand behind me and wraps his arms around me.  "No, but it smells good." The kernels started popping so I started shaking the pot and soon I was done. When the salt and butter had been added I hand the bowl to Haze and grab us some waters.  We get into bed and set the pillows up so we can lean on them, but Haze puts one arm around me to hold me close so I just lean on him. I wait for him to try some popcorn, "Oh wow! This is amazing Helen! This by far definitely tops microwave popcorn."  We're quiet for a minute, but I break the silence. "Do you have sibling?" "No, I'm an only child. My parents are traveling right now, but should be back in a few weeks. About the time of your birthday actually. I'll call them tomorrow and tell them I've found you. Knowing my mom, she'll want to skype as soon as possible to meet you." He chuckled a little. "I look forward to meeting them. Will they be okay with me not being werewolf, and, well, relatively sick?" I don't look at him, afraid of what he might say. But he pulls my chin up to look at him, "They will adore you, just like I do." I nod and put my head on his shoulder.  "Do you have siblings, Sweetheart?"  "I have a younger brother, Daniel. He really likes to play soccer and is really smart. He'll start his senior year of high school next month." I start to frown and I feel the tears coming. They really begin to fall and Haze moves the popcorn bowl away to he can hold me better. "Did Marian tell you what happened this morning?" "No she didn't. I'm sorry I didn't think to ask earlier. I was so focused on you and why you were here." I sniff. "Well in order to  hide me, she blew up my family's home and now the world believes me to be dead. My family thinks I'm dead." I continue to let my tears fall as he holds me. "I'm so sorry, I know Marian wouldn't have gone to that extent if she wasn't worried. I know that doesn't make this better though." He pauses for a minute, "Tell me about them?" "Well, like I said Daniel really likes soccer. He is hoping for a soccer scholarship to help with college tuition. Right now he isn't certain what carrier path he wants. His best friend is Kate, she lives across from us. I'm sure that her family took in my parents and brother. I hope my mom and dad make it through this. They didn't say anything, but I think their marriage was in trouble." I stop for a minute to think about them.  "I hope I can meet them one day." He kisses my temple and we sit in each other's arms for a while.  "What's a Luna? Several people were calling me that today?"  "It's a title of respect for the alpha female. Every pack has an alpha, and the mate of an alpha is called a Luna. It's a term of respect for your position in the pack. I have not officially introduced you, but to those who already know who you are to me are being respectful towards you." "I understand that being alpha you're the pack protector and leader. What is the Luna to the pack?" I'm curious because his pack may not accept me. I'm human for one, and another I'm not super healthy. "The Luna is sort of like the pack mother, she is caring and helps members as she can. A Luna's main role is to support her Alpha, keep him sane. What do you think about taking this on?" He looked nervous, and so cute. How could I say no? It just might break my heart forever to reject this man.  I looked into his eyes and put my hand on the nape of his neck, "I would be absolutely honored." He grinned so big and hugged me tight. "Will they accept me? I'm sure I will have to prove myself, that I will be a quote on quote mother figure." "They will except you, and as you get to know people and they see who you really are they are going to love you. I plan on announcing you as the future Luna tomorrow night at dinner if that sounds alright with you." "That sounds wonderful." I'm starting to get sleepy, but I don't want to stop talking. "When a Luna officially accepts her role, we have a Luna ceremony. Do you think we could have it on your birthday, since it lands on a Saturday this year?" I yawn, "Sure, that sounds good to me. What do we tell everyone about where I come from? I don't want to lie, but I don't think Marian wants me to tell everyone about the current circumstances." "Why don't we just say that Marian brought you here and leave it at that for as long as possible?" I just nod. Haze laughs a little and helps me get into a more comfortable position. He kisses my forehead and says, "Goodnight, my sweet woman."
