When I wake up, I see that I'm alone in bed. I can't help but feel a bit disappointed that Haze is gone. I really enjoyed our time together talking last night. I see a note on the empty pillow. Sweetheart, Since I missed some work yesterday I had to get an earlier start this morning. I'll see you soon. I smile to myself and sit up. I go do my business in the bathroom and make my way to the kitchen for a granola bar and some juice. As I sit at the table, it occurs to me that I actually slept all night. I didn't wake up from pain once.  When I'm done, I head back to the bedroom to find some clothes. Marian is in there, which reminds me of my make over.  "How did you sleep, Young One?" "I actually slept all night."  "Do you feel less tired than usual, or about the same?" "Um, I'm tired but doing okay so far."  She just nods and she gets started on whatever she is going to do to my hair. I've never had my hair dyed before so I'm not sure what to expect. Turns out it takes a while.  "Young One, I want to teach you a few things today. Just some stretches to see how you do and I want to try meditation with you. It's still going to be warm enough to use the pool for a while yet, so we may experiment with some stretches in there depending on how you do today. What do you think?" "I'll do whatever you like, I'm not to sure how easy it'll be for either of us though. Are you up for some grumpy moods?" I laugh a little, but still a little serious.  She laughs, a full on belly laugh. "It takes more than a grumpy mood to run me off, Young One!" She fills me in on my family, telling me that they are with our neighbors for now. Today, they plan to meet with an insurance representative and talk about rebuilding. They are also making plans for the funeral. I cry, knowing that their hearts are broke. Marian comforts me until the tears stop.  All the sudden, Haze runs in and looks around until he sees me. He runs over to me and kneels in from of me. "Sunshine, are you alright?" That's what his wolf calls me, Alex must have asked. "Alex, Haze I'm okay. I'm just sad about my parents and brother. Marian was able to update me on how they're doing?" I tried to comfort him by putting my arms around his neck.  He began to breath easier and his eyes changed back to Haze's beautiful green color. "I'm sorry, I felt your emotions and knew something was wrong." He was still taking deep breaths, but he smiled and kissed my arm. "How can you feel my emotions?" I'm confused. "Werewolf mates can feel each other's emotions and we know when something is wrong with the other. When we mark each other, we'll be able to communicate telepathically." Okay...."Well that's interesting. Um, can you feel my pain?" I don't want that for him. He looked into my eyes and nodded slowly. "I do, it's not to the same degree of what you feel." "I'm sorry." I look down. Why would someone be mated to me when my mate would have to feel my pain? That doesn't seem very fair. He lifts up my chin so I would have to look at him. "You are perfect for me, You were made for me, as I was for you." He leans up and kisses  my cheek. "Do you understand?" I nod and smile a little. "I'm glad you came." "As sweet a moment as this is, it's time to take the dye out of Helen's hair. So say goodbye and get out of here, she'll see you later." She smiles with her famous gleam. Haze stands up and kisses my cheek again. "I'll see you later." "Okay." After Marian finishes washing my hair again, she lets me see. It's beautiful, I didn't think it would look this nice. I now have silver highlights, like the moon let some silver tears fall onto my hair. Marian then grabbed some scissors. She didn't say anything about cutting it... When she's finally done, I'm happy with the end result. She made my bangs shorter, long enough to mostly put behind my ear and trimmed the rest. We then move on to the makeup, I don't really want to pay attention but Marian insists I learn. So I try to pay attention. She does up my face and I'm surprised that it actually complements my hair.  "How are you feeling? You want to get dressed now or rest a little while?" "Why don't I get dressed, then rest. I may go ahead and write that letter for my family." "Alright, let me show you what I bought." Out of all the clothes she bought, I picked out some black faded skinny jeans, combat boots, black tank top, and a black leather jacket. The jacket was kind of weird because it only went down to my sides and the arms stopped at the elbows.  "I may come back and switch this jacket out for a regular one." It felt strange, but maybe I'd like it.  I pick up paper and a pen and go out to the living room to get comfortable. I imagine, this will be the hardest letter I will ever have to write.  If you are reading this, something must have happened to me and I am no longer with you. Mom, Dad, Daniel, I just wanted you all to know how much I love you and appreciated each of you. I know you will grieve for me, but I am no longer hurting. I had a good life, I was shown love and not everyone gets to experience that. Mom, Dad, don't loose yourself in grief. You vowed to lean on each other for always, remember? This is your chance to help each other heal. Love each other. Don't forget about Daniel, pour you love into him. Daniel, I know this is going to be hard for you. I believe in you and whatever you choose for your future. You have a best friend that is going to be there for you, make sure you appreciate and thank her. Kelly, I know you're going to be with him every step of the way. Look after him for me and kick his butt when he needs it. I love you all very much, find joy in your lives and let go of the sadness. Loving daughter and sister, Helen. I fold it up and write on the front Kate Morgan and set it on the coffee table in front of me. I decide to close my eyes for a minute, but I'm awakened by Marian. "You've been asleep for an hour." I nod and yawn which makes her laugh. "Come on, it's time for lunch now. Is this your letter?" "Yes it is. Thank you for letting me do this." I hope it gives them some closure. "You're welcome."  Marian picks me up when we get to the stairs, but I make her put me down when we get to the bottom. She grudgingly puts me down and mutters all the way to the cafeteria. I just follow her with my eyebrows up. So what if I want to walk?  She does, however, make me sit. "I don't want you standing in that long line. No sense in wearing you out again."  When she turns to walk away, I roll my eyes at her. She turns quickly around and squints at me. How did she know? Pretty soon I'm joined by Haze, James, Jacob, and Suzanne. They all stare at me and it takes me a minute to remember that I look a little different than yesterday. "What do you guys think?" "You look beautiful, Sweetheart."  "Very nice," James and Jacob said together. "You look stunning!" Suzanne said. "Thanks, guys. I think Marian did a really nice job." Haze pulled me closer, "You were beautiful before you changed anything. I just want you to know that. Do you like all the changes?" "I think so, I'm not to sure about this jacket. It's not even a real jacket." I got him to laugh at that. Marian joined us and the group pulled her out of her sour mood, although not before she told Haze that I wouldn't let her carry me the whole way.  After we ate, Suzanne asked if I was ready for a tour. I looked to Marian and she nodded so I said I was ready. Haze made sure that if I got tired, we would come back. We said goodbye and got up.  "Let me introduce you to Jerry, our head chef. He's a pretty no nonsense kind of guy, but has a soft spot."  When we get in there, a man glances at us before going back to making lunch. "Suzanne, what have I told you about coming into my kitchen?" "Not to." She winks at me. The man looks up again and is trying to keep the smile off his face. He is a pretty bulky guy with blue eyes and blond hair. "So why are you here?" "I came to introduce the future Luna." She smiles widely at the man. He puts down what he is doing and comes over to shake my hand. "Luna, it's a pleasure to meet you."  "The pleasure is all mine. You can call me Helen though. If there is ever a time when you need extra help, I'd be glad to help out."  Now he gives me a real smile. "You are welcome anytime Luna." "Hey, what about me? I'm not chopped liver, you know." Suzanne is trying to give Jerry a mean face. "No you're not. I must get back to work." He winks at as and turns to a different area than he was before.  Suzanne doesn't turn to leave, she just stands there. After a moment, Jerry comes back with a container that he gives to her. "Now we can go." I smile at Jerry and follow Suzanne out. When she opens the container, she hands me a brownie from the stash inside. "Wow, now I see why you wanted to stop there first." "Like I said, he has a soft spot." We both laughed and I was then taken to the hospital area. "I'll introduce you to whoever is around."  "Okay, I met Doctor Sam and Nurse Stacy yesterday."  Before she could respond, Doctor Sam had spotted us and came over. "Helen, are you feeling alright?" He pulled me over to a chair and stood in front of me. I was a little bewildered, "Sir, I'm fine. Suzanne is showing me around and introducing me to some people." He eyed me a minute, "Alright, just don't over do it." I nodded, then her turned to Suzanne. "Keep an eye on her and make sure she rests often." "Don't worry, I'll take good care of her."  I was introduced to another doctor and several nurses before we headed out. Since it was Saturday, Suzanne thought that there might be a few people in the game room on the second floor. I went slow up the stairs, but we made it. There were several people about our age in there playing pool and video games. "Hey you guys! This is our future Luna!" She just yells and everyone turns to look at us.  I smile to try and put everyone at ease as they come over to see me. "I'm sorry we interrupted your games, I'm Helen. It's nice to meet you all."  A couple of the girls hung back and snickered, but the others came over and introduced themselves. The girls came closer after everyone else was done. The blond one spoke first, "You're the new Luna? You don't look like a Luna." "How am I supposed to look, exactly?" Patience. Patience. Patience. The brunette spoke this time, "Are you really Alpha Haze's mate? Did he tell you, he and I have been an item?" "Ashley, Tessa, shut up! He was never with you, all that is just in your head. And for your information, Luna is beautiful, kind, and sweet. Unlike the two of you!" I thought for sure Suzanne was going to deck these girls.  "Ladies, if you'll excuse us we need to be going. I'm sure I'll see you both around, have a nice rest of your day." With that I turn Suzanne around and lead her out of the room. "I should have decked them for being so disrespectful! You need to know what Ashley said was baloney. Alpha was never with her, he discouraged her and she just would not let it go." "I get it, and I figured that I wouldn't be liked by everybody. Let's just forget it and continue with the tour." She nodded, but was still huffing. I redirected her attention to the garden outside, I hadn't seen it yesterday when I got here. We walked over there and walked around. When we got to the middle, there was beautiful fountain and benches surrounding it. I went to go sit, but I heard crying and followed the sound to the other side of the fountain.  There was a little boy siting there, he couldn't have been more than five years old. I went to sit next to him. He saw me coming and tried to wipe his tears away. "Young man, why the tears?" I helped him wipe away the rest of his tears. "My friends made fun of my limp." His eyes filled with more tears. "If they made fun of you, then I don't think they were your friends. Friends encourage and love on one another. Friends stay by your side, no matter what." He thought for a minute, "I guess you're right." "I know I'm right. Can I be your friend?"  He looks up to me and smiles, "Would you really?" "I would be honored to be your friend. What's your name, young man?" "Leo, what's yours?" "Helen. I'm new here and Suzanne is showing me around." I think Suzanne had been listening, but let me handle it. She came closer when I mentioned her though. "Hey there, Leo. You want to tag along with us? I was going to bring the Luna to Sallie's next." "You're the Luna?"  "Yes, is that okay with you?" He inched closer and hugged me, "You'll make a great Luna!" "Thank you, honey." We all got up and we walked down the road that lead to what looked like several stores. Suzanne led us into the café and we found a table to sit at. A woman about our age came over to us, "Well, hello Suzanne, Leo. Who might this be?" "Sallie, this is Helen. Our future Luna."  Sallie brightened considerably, "Really? It's so nice to meet you! Our alpha has waited a long time for you!" I smiled back and shook her hand, "It's a pleasure to meet you too."  "What can I get you all?" Suzanne order lemonade for us all and large fruit bowl to share. We sit and chat, getting to know each other better. There were a few other people in the room with us and I was introduced. Except for those girls from earlier, everyone has been very nice and acceptive of me.
