Kiara's nerves were slowly getting the better of her as she stood there, taking a deep breath in an attempt to calm herself down. But then she felt Amara's reassuring gaze upon her, and when she looked over, she saw the confidence radiating off her colleague's face. Amara didn't have to say anything; Kiara knew that she was silently telling her that everything was going to be alright. So Kiara put on the biggest smile she could manage, straightened her blazer, and walked towards the group of men that was starting to file into the room.
The first person to welcome her into the meeting was Marcus Jones, who was the head of the committee. Marcus was a tall, well-built man with slightly thinning dark hair in the middle, and he was in his forties. He had soft brown eyes with wrinkles surfacing on his forehead and around his eyes that gave him a kind and approachable appearance. "Ah, nice to see you again Marcus. I hope your wife Mary and son Dylan are keeping well," Kiara said as she greeted him. Marcus gave her a smile while giving her hand a shake. "Yes, they are doing very well, thank you Kiara. I look forward to hearing your next proposal!" Kiara returned the smile, knowing that she could rely on Marcus's support as her pitch was going to have a positive outcome for his family's future. Not only that, but besides Amara, she could always count on Marcus for his support when it came to anything she wanted to explore within the business side of things. After a brief exchange, she then moved onto greeting the treasurer of the committee, Angus Griffin.
Angus was younger than his colleagues, but he was not short on wisdom and experience. As Kiara walked towards him and shook his hand, she was met with his hazel eyes that had longing in them. Angus was very easy on the eyes. He was tall, muscular from head to toe, and not even his expensive suit could hide his well-sculptured muscles. His sandy brown hair was all slicked back tidily, which distracted you from his youthful look. "Long time no see Angus, I hope you enjoy the presentation today," Kiara said as she greeted him. Angus didn't break eye contact as he shook her hand before replying, "Oh, I am forever intrigued with anything you put forward Kiara. I'm sure today will be no different." Kiara couldn't help but blush at his comment, but she truly hoped that his desire for supporting her claims in the past was because of good business and not because of his infatuation with her. She shook it off and made her way towards Todd Dawson, who was the secretary of the committee.
"I see they left my favorite until last," Kiara said as she went towards Todd. Todd was a very vibrant and colorful male. Even though there was never any conversations or confirmation, Kiara couldn't help but suspect that he batted for the same team. Just in the way he presented himself and how he talked always gave her her suspicions. Not to mention, Marcus and Angus both wore your typical, expensive suits that were just basic colors of black or navy blue, but here was Todd, sporting an orange blazer with matching pants. His open suit displayed a cream business shirt with a bright red tie. He somehow managed to pull it off, but he sure knew how to make himself stand out in the crowd. He approached Kiara and, instead of shaking her hand like Marcus and Angus, he went in for a full-blown hug instead. "Ah, hello little cherub! Great to see you again. Can't wait to see you smash this presentation out of the park again!" Kiara giggled and just as fondly returned the hug.
Although Kiara's relationship with the committee was strong out of respect and loyalty, she couldn't help but see them as close friends. All three of them were there right from the beginning when she started out on her business venture and have always been such a huge support! Kiara sometimes kicked herself for being tremendously and wondered what she had done to deserve such luck! After greeting Todd, she turned to Marcus and questioned, "Is Cooper not joining us today?" Cooper Grant was Marcus's second in command, and I would usually see him attending every meeting alongside Marcus. "Unfortunately, Cooper has come down with a nasty bug. However, knowing you need four signatures to sign this proposal off, I have invited a potential partner who is fascinated by your accomplishments already and wants to join us to see what you have to pitch. I hope you don't mind."
Hearing this gave Kiara more nerves than before, but she knew she needed those signatures so that she couldn't refuse. Otherwise, she would have to postpone today's meeting until Cooper could attend, and she didn't have the patience for it. "No worries, Marcus. I appreciate you making the effort and organising a backup so this could still occur." Marcus nodded his head, acknowledging Kiara's thanks. She then asked, "But where is this potential partner of mine? I'm not going to lie, Marcus, I am eager to start." Before Marcus could reply, a deep, sultry voice spoke out, "Glad to hear you are feeling so eager. Shall we get started then?" Kiara turned to see who had just walked in and caught sight of Amara next to her. Whoever had just walked in was drop-dead gorgeous and had an alluring smile, but Kiara couldn't help but notice the hint of danger it imposed.
