First stage

A day before the crowning

Josh is pretty much healed. He is back to his duty today even after I told him to rest. I sighed.

He informed that the assassin was sent by the Sun Kingdom. Those sneaky bastards. I will deal with them after my crowning.

I am already nervous as hell for the crowning. To top all of that, I am now locked in a f*****g room because as the history of the kingdom goes, most of the attacks take place before the day of crowning. So here am I, in this chamber to be kept safe.

No one knows about it, not even me until today. Only the ruler of the kingdom knows about it and it will be told to the next ruler or someone else when they are to be kept safe in this room.

I will be directly escorted to the royal grounds, from there I will be taken to the cave where mine and this Kingdom’s fate will be decided.

At Night: Outside the Cave

A figure is moving in the shadows, covered in a black cloak. He sneaked under the nose of every guard and released a deadly snake inside the cave.

The day of the crowning

I got ready in my training clothes and wore my crown. Now I am waiting here for Josh to escort me to the royal grounds.

When I entered, I saw the whole ground was filled with people. They cheered when I entered. I am happy that my subjects support me.

“We all are gathered here for the royal test of the Crown princess, to see if she is capable to be called a Queen of the Kingdom. As the rule goes, she will go inside the cave and have to pass through some problems before reaching the stone. If she is able to pass all those things and bring the stone outside which was placed inside by the King. Only then she will be announced as the Queen of our Kingdom.

Under any circumstances, if she failed to do so, then there will be a hunt to find the true King or Queen of the kingdom and her titled as the crown princess will be removed” The announcer announced.

Not gonna lie, it made me a bit nervous but I have faith in myself.

“So Princess are you ready, for your test?” The announcer asked.

I looked towards father and said,

“Yes, Your Highness. I am ready”

“The Princess shall be escorted to the cave” Two guards came forward and signed me to follow them.

“Your Highness, we are here” I stood outside the mouth of that big cave. It looked so scary like if I enter, it will eat me alive. They gave me a fire torch to see.

With full confidence and a bit of nervousness, I entered the cave.

I waved my torch to look around. The stones of the cave are black. There are some drawings carved on it with red and blue colour. I walked to the wall to see the drawing. Maybe there’s a hint. And surely there was.

After looking around a bit, I found the map of the cave on the downright corner of the wall. It says that there are three levels before I reach the stone.

First, I have to solve a puzzle to open the door then I have to fight some monsters then on the last stage. Wait where is the rest. There is no description of the last stage. Damnit.

Well, I can’t stop here, so let’s just go. I walked along the path as I remembered and soon saw a rusty metal gate. It opened by itself.

The room was shaped like a dome. In the middle of the room, there is this stone altar with a lot of green fungus on its pillars. But what amazed me that there are iron chains with sharp ends are attached to the roof of the altar. In the middle, there’s a lever. Maybe I have to pull it. Well, I didn’t know it will be this simple.

As I walked a bit more in, the door closed with a thud sound and at that moment those b****y chains started moving. f**k, I have to hide, otherwise, I will be killed.

I frantically looked around for a place. At last, I saw a place behind the pillar. I quickly hid behind it. Ok, now I have to think of a solution to go inside that altar.

I tried to understand the rhythm of the chains. After focusing on them for ten minutes, I found it.

There are a total of thirty chains outside, then ten on the inside and finally five around the liver and an unmoving one on top of the liver.

The outer chains complete a full circle in a minute, clockwise. The chains in the middle complete it in one point five seconds but they move anticlockwise and the inner chains are the slowest they complete their circle in one point seven five minutes but they change from clockwise to anticlockwise after every circle.

Now I have to look for an opening. Then I saw one. There was a chain that was shorter than the other. If I go out when that is in front of me then I can definitely grab the one beside it. I placed my torch on the stand on the pillar.

Soon the opportunity came and I grabbed it. Well, it just feels like that merry go round ride but it's dangerous than that. One wrong move and I will be chopped.

I jumped on one of the middle chains. My hands slipped a bit but I caught up on time.

“f**k. I hope. I catch the last one correctly”

And just like that I also caught the last one, then jumped on the centre chain which is not moving. Then I saw it. Those f*****g thorns.

Now how am I suppose to pull the lever there are thorns here which were not visible from there? I decided to move my body upside down. I somehow did it and pulled the lever.

Everything stopped. Those thorns were replaced by plain ground and a staircase opened. I jumped down to stand on the ground.

“Well that was some puzzle” I huffed a long breathe.

I picked up my torch and slowly descended the stairs. Going towards the second stage.
