As I sit in the library re reading one of my favorite books I can smell Edmund is coming this way. He opens the door I get up to greet him but notice that he's very troubled. I walk quickly over to him darling what wrong? I ask. He starts telling me EVERYTHING and only ends when he looks at me with tears in his eyes asks me to keep watch over Cairo's mother. I say yes automatically I can't even begin to imagine what this poor woman went though. As I rushed to the pack hospital to get an update Izzy walks out of the intensive care room. As soon as she saw me her eyes filled with tears. OH mom!  she said as she started crying i held onto her letting her cry onto my shoulder. I pulled away  how is she doing any change? how's Cairo doing?  She straightened herself as we sat down then she started talking. There's been some change  her heart beat has gotten stronger so has her pulse but she's terrified to shift even though all of us the pack doctors, Cairo, and I we all tried to re assure her that she was safe. She stopped talking and lifted her head mom? can you please and try and talk to her?? She might feel better talking to the Luna. I looked at her and smiled of course my dear. As I walk into her room I can't help but feel so much pain for them. I walk over to Cairo and smile, hello how are you holding up? I ask.  I'm ok just really worried about mom, we have tried everything to get her to shift and she won't...  I take a seat next to her bed why you don't you and Izzy leave and go get some rest and eat I will stay here and watch over her for you. He  agrees and leans down and kisses her and tells her he will be back  and walks out of the room feeling defeated. I look at the silver/grey wolf I lightly touch her paw and tell her it's ok he's gone if you choose to you can shift. Slowly she looked up at me and laid her head pack down and started to shift. I got up and went to get her a gown. When I came back she was fully shifted I couldn't help but look at her body there were so many cuts and bruises all over. I handed her the gown and helped her into it she was still too weak to stand up. Hello  my name is Aeryn St. James I'm  Izzys mother and the Luna of this pack. I watched as her eyes got wide.  hello Luna my name is Jolene please don't kick me out I need my son he can protect me she said trembling. I took her hand  you don't have anything to worry about here as far as I'm concerned you're a member of this pack I smiled  a reassuring smile as I said the last part. She smiled and said thank you I really appreciate that, mother to mother I seen the way Cairo looks at Izzy... is she??.. I thought about telling her but I needed to ask Izzy first i quickly mind linked her. Izzy darling Cairo's mom is asking about your relationship  may I tell her?? she thought for a few seconds and then replied ya mom we're fine with that WAIT! how did she ask?? she was still in wolf form when we left... Izzy just relax she's fine she shifted back to human but she is so very tired so lets not bombard her tonight ok? ok mom... I turn back to this woman who looks to frail and withered and told her that our children are mates and be plan on protecting both of them  for as long as we can. She started crying HE'S NOT GOING TO LET THEM BE TOGETHER  she stated very clearly. we know he's already been here trying to destroy them but we stopped his attempt very quickly  and he's banished from our lands. A huge wave of relief flowed over her I've been on the run for so long I'm so tired she sighed. May I ask how long you have been running? Two years so far the last I had seen my son my heart broke for him that day. I watched as he held his dead mate in his arms yelling at her to wake up... at the same time I didn't see my supposed mate come walking up to me I didn't notice till he had plunged the syringe into my neck and I was being forced to shift I howled and bit him and ran for my life. It hurt like hell leaving my son defenseless but It's what I had to do to protect myself. She looked down playing with the hospital gown, I could feel the guilt it was thick in the air.  Jolene your son knows why you ran and by the teary look in his eyes I know for a fact he doesn't hold anything against you. I thought for a second.. you being here raises a big question how did you know Cairo was here?? oh I'm sorry I've been following him but at the same time keeping my distance. Doing what a mother should always do keeping an  eye on her child, but my husband found out where i was and came after me that's why  I'm so weak and why I'm covered in so many bruises and cuts. I took a chance and mind linked him when I got picked up by patrol, I was hoping he was here. I never would have imagined that he would find his second chance mate let alone her being the Alpha and Luna's daughter. Tell me about her please I cant wait to meet her I'm so happy for them she said with joy and admiration in her voice. I pulled a chair up and started talking about Izzy when she was a baby but when I had gotten to when she was five and she had gotten attacked her face fell.. I told our Alpha he wasn't up to no good working with that witch!! I could see her face getting red and as soon as her heart monitor went off I quickly looked at her and said you need to calm down if you ever want a chance to see our kids get married and having pups of their own. She started crying I told our Alpha to call the other Alphas and spread the word but he refused! he said he talked to William and  that William told him I was losing my mind. I looked at her I couldn't help but feel sorry for her, she tried her hardest to get the word out that her mate was up to no good and everyone refused to listen to her. Well Jolene I have good news she perked up instantly.. Izzy has adjusted so well without having her wolf she's become one of the hardest working women in our pack and trains longer and harder than even our best warriors. Everyone loves her and protects her, and I know with everything in me that the moon goddess wouldn't have mated our children if it wasn't for a reason that's bigger than all of us I smiled she agreed with me. As soon as we finished talking about our kids and the hope of grandchildren Edmund knocked on the door enter I said as soon as he came around the corner he looked at us smiling like little kids sharing a secret. ''well I don't like the looks of this you two are way too happy'' he smiled and  asked Jolene how she was feeling  better Alpha  thank you  I looked at Edmund and said we were just talking about the future with our kids and  possible grandkids i said the last part with a smile. He looked at us and said that would be wonderful. I just came to tell Jolene that we have a special room in the pack house for her  she can leave the hospital today if she chooses we will have round the clock care for her and she could see the kids whenever she wanted. I watched as both their faces lite up and kept thanking me.. Jolene stopped and got this worried look on her face. Alpha your daughter and Luna have both said I could live here permanently is that true?? yes! I said quickly  you were a  member as soon as our daughter said so.. I seen relief wash over her and as I was leaving I could hear her say thank you so much I looked back just in time to see Aeryn hold her as she cried tears of joy. AS i walked out the door I quickly sent a message to Donaven  telling him we need to contact their old Alpha he has some explaining to do.. all I heard him say was hell ya he does. I walk out of the hospital on a mission to find out why that Alpha didn't believe her and caused my daughter and our pack so much pain.
