We got to his office doors and as we entered I saw Leo our beta and James our gamma. Along with Alpha Simons beta and gamma. My father walked to his side of the desk and sat down. I closed the door and walked to stand beside him like a Luna would for her mate.
"Alpha Derek, what I have to discuss is not appropriate for a young woman to be present." He looked nervous saying it. Almost like he was ashamed of what he was about to confess.
My father sighed after looking at me for an okay and I gave the okay. "You can tell her too."
"Alpha, I must say that I don't think it's appropriate for her to be here while I tell you these things." He said defiantly.
"I beg your pardon? How dare-" I stopped when my father's hand went up. It meant don't say another word.
My father stands up from his desk and lets Rex come into the conversation. "Alpha Simon, we have a very, very strong agreement that my daughter's sanity is not up for discussion and, quite frankly, none of your business. We agreed to this after my mate passed. Another thing Simon, MY daughter, YOUR future ruler, can be present for any and all meetings I have with Alphas and the packs." Rex spoke with spite in his voice. He sat down and groaned. My father was back to his normal self shortly after sitting.
But I couldn't shake the feeling that he was going to tell us what we didn't want to hear. Alpha Simon was not the big, mean and scary Alpha. Just one that looked tired and run down. One that hasn't slept right for a while now.
He looked at us, then stared at me with solemn eyes. Then he looked away with pain in his eyes also. He sighed and looked back at us and started.
"Please keep an open mind. I know it was wrong. I honestly didn't know how bad it was. Till after the last time we spoke about my pack. And please let me finish before any questions." We nodded to each other then back at him for him to continue.
"About two weeks after our last conversation, I took a run around the pack lands, I heard faint cries coming from the far west side of the lands. So, Aurther was curious as to what could be this far out. I told him it was okay to check it out. We went full speed to get there faster and if someone needed help we needed to help them. When we got close, all we smelled was s*x, blood and death." He looked as if he didn't want to continue. I felt the need to go sit with him and hold his hand and I did.
I padded his hand and he took a deep breath and continued.
"I stopped and shifted back and got dressed. By that time, I had already mind linked who I needed to. I reached the tiny clearing and I saw two bodies. As I got closer, there were two she-wolves and the smell of decay was evident. But the one girl who lived was crying softly and whispering to herself. I walked up to her, and she saw me and the look of downright terror was in her eyes. It seemed like she thought I hurt her, but I swear I didn't. She wasn't even part of the pack. Her legs had been broken, so was an arm and most likely her eye socket and nose. She was bruised all over. When I tried to touch her she screamed at me, saying no more please. I stood back and told her I wouldn't touch her. I heard the sounds of wolves running. I ran to meet them and told only the female warriors to go and help the young she-wolf. I explained to Jeff and Kevin what happened and told them I thought this was strange. They had both agreed. One of my female warriors pulled me aside and told me the young she-wolf was with pup, but she didn't care to keep it. I helped her as much as I could, even sending out cards and money for therapy if she wanted it. But she never did say who did it. All she says is that she was r***d, and she didn't want to keep the pup. I had her in the pack house before her father could come and retrieve her. I started my own investigation and turned all this up."
He said as he handed my father a folder that was as thick as a text book. He skimmed through it, then stopped on a page, then closed it suddenly. I looked at him with questioning eyes, and he gave me the not now look.
"We have brought the wolves responsible with us along with all the evidence. I came to ask for help. This guy is dangerous, but he won't try anything on these lands, or I hope he doesn't, because it's a fast passage to meeting the moon. My father has dealt with this wolf's father, and he was worse than he is. My father killed his father after a challenge was made. I'm sorry to bring this to you, Derek, but I'm honestly out of options."
He sighed again and shook his head sadly. "Alpha Simon, if I may ask, What happened to the she-wolf who lived?" I asked lowly. Wondering if she could even live a normal life after that.
"Well, after about a month she was stable enough for travel and her Alpha, parents and mate wanted her home dearly. She's been in therapy ever since, but she and her mate have been working on themselves and getting past this. Well, at least that is the last I heard." He said with tears in his eyes.
"Well, I'm glad she's getting help. Let her family know that the royal house is behind them for any care. "I told him with my head held high.
My father, who was silent this whole time, finally spoke up. "Now Alpha Simon, if I understand you correctly, you have been aware of and handling the issues at hand and in the past. Then, a couple of months back, you just happened to find two young she-wolves one deceased and the other one struggling for life, and then she goes home happy and no one said anything? I don't believe that. Then you come here asking for help with a problem we brought to you many times before and only now asking for help. Simon, goddess, you're so frustrating!" My father said out of aggravation.
"Derek, I am truly sorry for not listening to you sooner. I just-" he started before my father cut him off.
"Simon, I don't want to hear your lame ass excuse this time. Just be lucky your ass is family. Because I would have cut your ass off a long time ago." He said with hatred. But family? This is new.
"Father? What do you mean family?" I asked him with confusion written all on my face.
"Ada honey, this is your mother's brother. We've always had a strained relationship because of everything. He's stupid but he can always help in a pickle." He said while chuckling.
"Derek, Adaline, one more thing before I go." He said as he looked straight at me. "Adaline, we have to talk about your wolf. Maybe after dinner?" He questioned me, but I was just too shocked to say anything.
He knew about Ash? How? I was so careful, I always am. I guess after dinner is fine. "That's fine, Uncle Simon." I said with a confused look. He just smiled at me and left. I left shortly after without another word. How does he know about my wolf?
