ARTHODON AND THE FOUR DRAGONS

CHAPTER 2: THE PROPHECY OF THE DRAGONS

Many days have passed, but still the Desteon is in strict defense and surveillance. Jados and five wizards cast a protective magic to shield Desteon to unknown threat. Jados saw the face of the witch but can’t remember what it looks like. Life in Arthodon continues, the other three Kingdoms give their help to find the culprit. Anyone who sees using dark magic or even doing magic without license will be trialled and punished.

In a small town in Eferio, The West Kingdom of Arthodon,

“But, Mother, I love her” said Dani, a human, who fell in love in an elf.

“But, Dani, she’s an elf, you know it is a law to the whole Arthodon to neither have a relationship nor marry to a non-race”, said his father

“Father, Mother, what if Clanis is pregnant with my child?” Dani said sarcastically but deep inside its true. Dani’s father is a town physician and his mother is teacher. They live in a town outside the palace of Eferio but subject to it for they are in its boundary.

“That’s what you shouldn’t do!” ordered by his mother

Not far away from Dani’s house,

“Mother, Father, I am pregnant.”, confession of Clanis to her parents.

“What did you say?” her mother asked.

“Do not say its Dani’s!” her father concluded with a little bit of shock. Clanis nods and sobs.

“No, n n.. no” her mother now is sceptical

“You must not give birth to that child!!” holding his voice but anger is evident in his tone

“But father..” cried Clanis, her father turn his back

“I already said to you from the start to stay away from that girl, your love will bring nothing but misfortune” said Dani’s mother

“Do not let your child live, curse will be upon the whole land!! ”, words of threat from his father

“How come you believe that worthless prophecy! It’s your grandchild we are talking to” Dani’s defense, his voice c***k in the end

“You’ll be locked up on your room” her father announces.

“But Father,…” Clanis beg

“It’s for your own good” said her mother

“You cannot get out until that child is in your womb!!” said her father with rage.

Five months have passed since the incident in Desteon, the fae King Jeron, held a huge festivity in Encanta for the celebration of the pregnancy of his Queen Lian. All members of the royal family in four kingdoms are invited and bring some gifts. The Dwarf King Euri and Queen Laurisa of Aldron (al’dron), the North Kingdom of Arthodon, come. In the western kingdom Eferio (ef’eriyo) is the Elf King Alfiro and Queen Alia and their son, prince Mirio.

And the royal fae family of Rutheos (ruth’eyos), the southern kingdom, King Ramiro and Queen Elvia, oldest sister of King Jeron, together with their children, from eldest to youngest, Prince Cassius(kas’yus), Princess Elly and Prince Rasse (ra’s) are present. All other magistrates and royal subjects attend.

You can see, Arthodon is a world of magic and sorcery where giants, ogres, fairies, humans, elves, dwarves live dominantly together with any other magical creatures. Faes, Humans, Elves and Dwarfs live with freedom; unity and peace, govern by the kingdom they belong to, with Kings and queens respectively. It has four kingdoms, namely: Aldron in the north known for its wisdom where the hugest and most prestige academy of magic and science is found, the Elliris, where only the rich and the noble can enroll and study. Desteon in the east is known for its rich earth, crops and rarest animal and other living creatures. It is the main sources of medicinal herbs and creator potions or poisons.

Eferio found in the west is known in their incomparable fabric, pottery, jewelry making and trading. This kingdom is endowed in rivers and lakes; and it is near the vast ocean of Cladion. Rutheos in the south of Arthodon, known for its mining and is rich in ores and all kinds of minerals where the other kingdoms purchase or trade. They are great in weaponry and armory.

A sacred temple commonly called as Encanta, built in the center of the four kingdoms represents as the soul of Arthodon. It stands as home of the Head Seer that was called or appointed by the Four Kings. It also acts as a court if two or more subjects from different kingdom no matter what races are, that is involved in the offense. The subject’s respective King and the Head Seer will be their judge.

Giants are fat barbaric and vagabond creature with huge hands and feet. All they do is eat and sleep then eat and sleep. And you don’t want to cross path with them because they will chase and crush you or if they want, eat you, cook or alive. They have grayish thick skin and also has a very awful odor that you can smell few miles away.  They always think, because they are big, they are stronger than anyone, well they can reach up to 30 feet tall. 

Ogres, second tallest of all, live in family or in group and they have a leader who is for them is their law. They are the thief of Arthodon, and they are lazy and cunning but like fighting or hunting. Their skin is greenish and their height can reach up to 15 feet. One thing that is good to them is they love their family or tribe that they always ready to die for them but if you are a non-ogre race, still, never trust an ogre.

Humans are strong and courageous in battles though compare to other races they are the weakest, physically and in learning magic, but the most intelligent of all, strategically and academically. Most invention in Arthodon is created by humans. Fairies can be born with powers but that’s rare and they are taught to control it. And if they are not born with it, they can learn magic and spells easily even in a young age compare to other races.

Elves are the best in physical combat especially in agility and focus but second to faes in magic. The three differ in height just a little but huge in characters.

Dwarfs are the shortest in height with the maximum of 4 feet but the densest in weight compare to human, fairies and elves. Dwarfs live the longest of them all, second are the fairies.They are second to human in wisdom and strategy. They can also fight in terms of strength because they never abandon their comrades in battles.

“Your Royal Highnesses, welcome to Encanta, please!....” greeting of the Head Seer to the royal family, gesturing to come in, who comes one after another. Royal guards from four kingdoms disperse inside and outside the temple.

“King Jeron” called King Alfiro to his friend

“Your Majesty”, nodding his head down a little to show respect to the fellow King

“naahhh, enough formalities, Jeron, it’s a soiree” said Alfiro breaking the ice between them

“Where’s queen Lian?” asked queen Alia

“She’ll be here in a bit”  Desteon’s king answered, look at the child hiding behind her mother’s skirt of royal blue with golden laces, “Is that Mirio?”

Queen Alia nodded with a big smile then said, “My prince, greet King Jeron”, Mirio look in his mother then come out from behind then greet the King of the east, “Greetings, my king!” then bowed.

“How lovely!” a voice from behind

“My Queen” said King Jeron as he saw Lian walking towards them with her four handmaids beside her.

“Greetings to my queen” said King Alfiro and Queen Alia, and then the other royal family join them to greet the pregnant queen of Desteon.

“Ovil, Clanis is missing!!” exclaimed Gana to her husband as he reached home from work.

“How long do you think she’s been missing?” he asked

“I do not know, she been here since lunch but as I check her this afternoon, she’s gone” she wondered

They rushed outside and asked their neighbours if they see Clanis. But they know nothing.

The celebration continues, King Jeron now formally announces the pregnancy of his wife of a prince at Encanta in front of all royal family and royal subjects. The festivity pursue ‘til night, then suddenly, the Head Seer stood up straight and whitened his eyes, then said in a loud and thunder–like voice,

“As the whole earth shook and fragmented

A shadow of darkness will glance

As the dragons awaken from its sleep

The birth of light and darkness will commence

No one can defeat or conquest the evil

But the concurrent light only and entirely”

All were silenced and marvel the words the seer had utter. Then Jabino collapsed, kneeling to the floor. “Master” said the captain of the guard of the Rutheos kingdom, helping him to stand. “What happened?” asked king Ramiro.

“A prophecy”, said King Euri of ALdron

“What does it mean?” asked by Queen Laurisa

“I don’t know yet, your majesties” said Jabino who had returned to his trance

“Head Master” said Jabino’s right hand, Valmino, handed him the scroll to write the prophecy

“I will let know you royal highnesses, once I decipher the words.” Ensuring of Jabino to the people around him

King Euri pondered the words and concern is clear in his face, “As I remember to what I’ve heard, there will be a huge earthquake and the four dragons will be awakened? But what kind of evil awaits in us, in Arthodon?”

(*Trivia: Only the chosen and called seer by the four guardian Dragons can receive revelation for the whole Arthodon and he only can communicate to the dragons through visions or dreams*)
