Almost-Confession & A stranger In The Dark

986 Words
Ezra I shouldn’t have said that. And now I couldn’t take it back. Fuck! She had put me on the spot, and I hadn’t known how to react. Her face immediately transformed from anger to confusion. “W_what do you mean by_by that, Ezra?” Dang! What was I going to say now? That she I was bad bad news for her? I let out a furstrated sigh, then stepped backwards, putting a much needed distance between the both of us. “I’m just saying I should be the last person you should be kissing.” I knew my choice of words were wrong, and I would probably end with Eleanor slapping me, but I just went on. “We grew up together, Beetle, and we are practically siblings. And siblings shouldn’t be kissing.” My body rejected those word, like I had said a bad spell. Eleanor looked stunned for a moment, then nodded her head. “Yeah, you are right. Siblings shouldn’t kiss.” something squeezed tightly hearing her agree with me. I wanted to take back what I had said, but she continued. “Only, we are not siblings. Have never been, and will never be siblings.” I blinked at her. “Eleanor_” She interrupted me by raising her hand. “It’s okay to tell me you are not attracted to me, Ezra, and that the kiss was a mistake.” The thing squeezing my heart squeezed tighter. “And yes. It was a mistake. It should never have happened. And will not happen again.” Eleanor plastered a smile I knew was fake on her face, while I stood there, unable to speak. “Now, about butting into my business. Please stay out of it. We are siblings, and we should have boundaries.” Fuck. She turned on her heel, and made to move away. I wanted to call her, reach for her, but I stood, feeling the same numbness I had felt earlier after our kiss, overtake my body. Just as she was about stepping back into the lounge, I saw a shadow from the corner of my eye, which had not been there before, pass in a blur, taking Eleanor with him. Eleanor let out a scream, but the sound is cut off when whatever it was that was holding her, knocks a blow at her head. My body immediately went into action, and I went after them. The shadow, a half-shifted man, from what I could tell, jumped off the balcony, before I could catch them, and onto the next. I shifted, easily jumping the balcony and joining them. I’m about to lunge for him when Eleanor releases her canines and bites into the arm that holds her to him. The were-wolf was strong, and huge, easily surpassing Eleanor in size and body mass, making her appear like a toddler against him. Her bite only seemed to do nothing but anger him the more and he raised a hand to hit her again, but I moved close, grwoling at him. The balcony is to the Library, and unless he wanted to break the trauma-proof glass door, they were stuck. As the next balcony was too far away for him to jump with her in his hands. “Let her go, or you will not like what I would do next.” I growled, transforming into half-human half wolf, just like him. He was huge, but I was still bigger. I pushed the single sliver of fear that began to slide up my spine and replaced it with my lust for the blood of whoever this stranger was. The man seemed to size me up, his golden eyes hard, then yanking on Eleanor’s hair, he pushed her towards me. “I am not here to hurt her.” His voice was gruff. I growled at him and pushed a whimpering Eleanor behind me, but she refused, taking a stance next to me. Stubborn mutt! “Then who the f**k are you and where were you taking me to?” she took the words out of my mouth. The man was clearly older than us, was certainly not a student in the academy. And I knew all the staff. He doesn’t answer Eleanor’s question, but has his eyes on her. I hissed, not comfortable with the way he was looking at her. “What the f**k do you want?” My tone was icy, even to my hearing. From next to me, I could not only hear Eleanor’s heart thudding heavily in her chest, but could smell her fear, despite the brave face she was putting on. I didn’t like that. Because if I could smell her fear, then so could he. “I just came to see for myself.” he replied, his eyes still on her. I pushed Eleanor behind me again, and this time, she oblidged. “See what?” What did he come to see? And how did it concern Eleanor? The man finally turned his gaze to me. His lips curled into a smile that enraged Duryan, my wolf. “We will know soon.” he answered, bringing his hand which hand been in Eleanor’s hair and sniffing loudly. My wolf wanted to attack, but common sense made me to stand back, but guarded. “I don’t know who the f**k you think you are, or how you got in here, but you better tell me who you are, and what you want, before I tear you into pieces.” I snarled, pushing out my alpha aura. The man too a step back as my aura hit him. “Like I said, we would know, soon.” his voice was strained, and as soon as those words left his lips, he dove sideways, down the tower. I rushed to the edge of the balcony looking over, but saw nothing. No sign of him whatsoever.
