Chapter Twenty-six

2028 Words
“Rose?” Jack knocked on the door to her office. She ignored him. He pushed the door open and walked in sheepishly. “Heyyyyyy” he dragged, playing with the pens on her table. “Say what you want and get out.” “Dinner? Tonight? Just the two of us.” “I’m good. Don’t want to be fed with any more lies.” “Bills on me.” “I’m not broke Jackson.” “You’re calling me Jackson.” “Dammit, just talk!” “I talked. I want to talk to you, over dinner. At your favorite restaurant.” “What’s my favorite restaurant?” “The one with the seafood.” “I hate that place.” “Oh come on. I can’t be bad at not knowing anything about you.” “Well, looks like you are.” She played the video again on her laptop, checking for what part she needed to cut off. “Rose, I’m sorry.” “So, that word exists in your dictionary? How transforming and enlightening.” “Please,” “I think you have me mistaken for Nelly. As you can see, I need to send this video to Dennis and I need it to look so clean like I never went snooping in Alejandro’s room.” “Alejandro? You were with Alejandro?” “You know him, don’t you? I found a picture of the three of them as well.” “We can break all of this down at dinner.” “No. You will start talking. Any news on the text that was sent?” “We seized their goods. It’s worth billions, stolen and sold to foreign lands.” “Excellent.” “So, you’re a member now, eh?” “What time is this dinner?” “Whenever you’re done with work.” “I need a specific time.” “Nine o’clock.” “Good. I’ll meet you there.” “And do I have to change the location?” “No. You were right about it being my favorite restaurant. Now leave before I change my mind.” “Yes ma’am.” Jack said as he left her room. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ “I do not appreciate you sending spies to my room and taking photos without my consent and uploading it.” Storm yelled banging his fist against the table. “It was her room as far as I was informed.” “You mentally derailed bastard! How dare you hack my account?” “I won’t consider that hacking, I guessed your password right. Who the hell uses their birthday as a password in this day and age?” “It’s easier to remember especially when you don’t expect that your younger step brother would be hacking your account.” “Aren’t you meant to be happy?” “You’re ruining the plan. You’re destroying every possibility I can get to be on her good books.” “Well, I did what I had to do. Deal with it.” Storm dragged him back by his collar. “Let’s settle this, outside. One on one.” The color of his eyes changing. Robin smiled at him, “You’ve got that right. Let’s settle this, werewolf to werewolf.” He dropped his glass of wine on the table and they raced into the fields. “Beat his ass Storm!” Susan yelled cheering him on. “You silly girl,” “Ow ow ow ow ow, Owwww…” she cried as her mother pulled her ear until it was red before she released her grip on it. “What?! I mean it’s the entire fact I was just stating. Like really mom, Robin against Storm, with his feeble body,” “Sometimes, I wonder whose side you are on.” “You bother your old wrinkled head with thoughts like that when the answer is clearly staring you in the face. Of course I’ll stand by the truth! Now sssshhhh,” she shushed her mother. “The battle is about to begin.” Looking down on the field, where Storm, in his werewolf form, and Robin in his werewolf form as well, stood facing one another, growling. “B E G I N ! !” Susan yelled. You whimp! Always hiding behind the shadows and afraid to come out. Storm jumped at Robin immediately biting him on his neck. Robin howled, struggling to set himself free from Storm. “WOO-HOO ! ! Get him Storm!” Susan screamed and her mother hit her head. Susan just rolled her eyes and kept on cheering. Robin had finally been able to set himself free from his grip, standing afar off. Growling and lowering himself, before he charged towards Storm but Stormed jumped over him now standing on the other side. In anger, Robin charged towards him again like a fool but Storm rather charged head on as well, this time sinking his huge fangs into Robin. “H O W W W W W L L L” Robin cried out in pain. “Oh my poor Robin.” Celina cried as she ran downstairs. “Get ‘em!” Susan screamed before running downstairs with her mother. Storm and Robin exchanged blows with their paws, fighting and fighting until Storm declared his victory with his foot on Robin. I give up ! Robin begged. Storm took his foot off and transformed back into a human. “Not even a single scratch. Lay off Rose ! She’s mine.” He said before leaving the field. Robin laid in the field changing back and holding his bleeding neck, “Remember who the enemy is! Befriend her not catch feelings and sleep with her.” Robin said. “Oh my poor baby,” Celina cried as she ran to him. “Leave me alone ! !” Robin pushed her away storming out of the field. “Oh Storm. You were amazing as always.” “I need to get the hell out of here.” “Right behind you, I have this amazing chocolate waiting for us to devour it,” “Storm.” They stopped in their tracks and looked up, finding their father behind the rails. He raised his hands motioning for him to come up. “I’m guessing the chocolate cake can wait.” Susan rolled her eyes as she sat on the couch playing with her phone. “What kind of sister are you?” “The best.” “You supported Storm instead of your brother Robin,” “Oh please. You all make the house unbearable for Storm. Someone has to stick beside him and it is definitely not you or either of those brats, with your selfish motives to dethrone him from becoming the alpha and leader of the pack.” Celina twisted her mouth, “Mmmmmmmm” struggling to free herself . “The lipgloss is expensive and you did not contribute a dime to it.” “I should have you locked up.” “Lock me up, i will stand by Storm either ways.” “I cannot believe that I gave birth to an arrogant little brat like you,” “I’m ashamed to call you my mother.” Her mother stormed away in anger while Susan grumbled and sat on the chair. “Storm better not take too long, I can’t stand the people in this house one bit.” ~~~~~~~~ “What is the meaning of this?” He said turning his laptop to face Storm. “It’s Robin.” “Robin would not have been successful with a scandal like this unless it was true.” “It was not true. Nothing happened.” “Don’t lie to my face boy. I wasn’t born yesterday either.” “It was a drunken moment, and a moment of weakness.” “You cannot afford to be weak with the enemy. Do you understand how delicate the matter is? You lie in the same bed as the woman whose father is responsible for the death of your mother. How insulting can that be?” “My apologies father.” “Do you know how stupid you have made us look? And… what nonsense did I hear about you and Rose being in the woods together?” “So, they told you.” “Not just me, the entire council of elders. What on earth do I have to say to the elders, for engaging with the enemy, they are also from another tribe.” “They attacked me. Rose was only helping out.” “The enemy was helping you out? She helped out because you were screwing her?” “No. This happened before the screwing.” “I cannot believe that I am having this conversation.” “Remember father, the plan was to draw her in, and then strike.” “Robin ruined the plan with his foolish move.” “Then you must call him to order. He only pays attention to you.” “That I will do. Now you, you have been able to make yourself known, and are on the road to gaining favor from me. Don’t lose your focus.” “Yes father.” “You are dismissed.” “Stay well.” With that Storm left his office. “Let’s go Susie.” “What? What did he say? Was he mad? I was scared because I did not hear any yelling.” “It’s calm. He’s going to call Robin to order.” “Well that’s new. You’re finally becoming his favorite.” “Yeah,” “But we both know that he’s only using you for his selfish gains.” “You’re way too smart for your age.” “I got that from spending time with you.” “Come ‘ere,” he pulled her close to him and ruffled her hair. ~~~~~~~~~~ “So, what would you like to order?” “Nothing.” “Nothing?” “I guess I’ll get an appetite when you tell me exactly what is going on brother.” “I had an impromptu meeting with the elders.” “What happened?” “You, happened.” “The news?” “That, and the fact that you stood with the enemy to find against your own.” “Those bloody scoundrels,” she growled. “I know, we are not fond of them but fighting them?” “They were attacking Storm, how on earth am I expected to stand and watch?” “As someone who hates the guts of this guy. I would have watched them beat him to pulp,” “That is you Jack. Remember, that is not my life.” “How did you feel being down there? Shooting and watching people die from your bullets?” “Nothing. I didn’t feel a thing but pain in my shoulder from one of their bullets.” “Oh my ! Let me see.” “It’s all bandaged up, I got help.” “From the enemy?” “ the enemy has a name.” “Anyways, I’m not one to be bothered about meetings as those.” “Exactly, so let us not talk about this again.” “So, the next thing on the agenda,” “There’s an agenda. I’m hungry. I just need some grilled steak and fries, oh and a bottle of champagne.” “So much for not wanting to eat anything. Waiter.” “Yes sir, please take down the lady’s order and order the same thing for me. Separate plates please.” “What would you have miss?” “Grilled steak, fries and a bottle of champagne with two glasses.” “Alright. Will get that to you shortly.” “Thank you.” Rose said to him. “So brother, what exactly is this meeting for? Why are we here?” “I’m sorry Rosalia.” “You know I hate that name.” “Rosalia,” he smiled. “I’m sorry.”
