Chapter Three

1614 Words
“Alright, who’s ready for a free weekend?” Their father said at the dining during the weekend. “I can’t dad, I’ve got this competition and I’m going against Storm,” “It’s compulsory for every member of this family,” “Dad, this is equally important. He’s always been so close to beating me, I can’t afford losing to him, not even once.” “Come on Rose, you hardly have fun with any of us,” Jack whined. “No Jack, you don’t have to beat off an enemy right now, do you? The reputation of our family is on the line, I can’t just risk it. You always have fun without me anyways, what makes this time different?” “Rose, you should know that family is important,” “That is exactly why I’m staying back. Someone has to put that family in their place.” “You’re only so young,” “I’m a werewolf, this age thing doesn’t really work on us. Anyways, that’s enough chit chat for the night, see you all after your free weekend tomorrow.” Rose said as she walked out on everyone in the dining hall. Sitting on her bed with the books in her hand she heard a light knock on her door. “I know it’s you dad, come in,” he poked his head through the side of the door, smiling before walking into her room and shutting the door. “What’s my little princess doing?“ “Reading father,” “You know, I was once like you, always reading, no play, no fun,” “I know, that’s how you achieved so much and you’ve always won the Reeds. Although father, where has Storm’s father disappeared off to?” “Why do you ask?” “It’s been two years and Storm says nothing about him,” “Are you friends with Storm?” “Eww… no! How can I be friends with him? He’s the son of the enemy, the rival pack. Besides, imagine the joke the priest made about us being matches, never in a million years will I ever agree to marry him. Never!” “You’re too young my love, what do you know?” “I know that you were best friends with his father and that the goddess of light revealed his dirty deeds to you and he turned against you and has strived to make sure that you become a failure but blood is thicker than water. Your father was not a loser and neither are you,” “You listen to a lot of adult gossip than you should miss,” “It’s not just me listening to adult gossip. It’s obvious, everyone knows this, even a little baby.” “Rose, I don’t want you to grow up so bitter and angry, you’re taking up the role of an alpha,” “I’m a Luna dad. A Luna, what do you expect?” “And what am I?” “Okay, so I am a Luna, you are an Alpha, just like Jack is, mother is Luna just like I am and Stefan is a Gamma. One thing I know for sure is that Dominic Reed is an Ultima. He’s so bitter and ruthless and I get scares at night father, that he’s going to kill you.” “Nothing will happen to your father Rose, I don’t want you to be bothered by all these things. Okay?” “I can’t help it.” “How is Storm like in school?” “I don’t know, he always likes to keep to himself but he has guys flocking around him like he’s their leader. I’m serious, they take instructions from him, if only they knew,” “Come join us for a free weekend. We’ll have lots of fun, I haven’t seen that side of you in a while.” “But…” “Just this once.” He begged. “You and I will run off and leave the others to catch up, what do you say?” “I like the sound of that.” She said with a wide grin on her face. “Excellent. See you at six tomorrow morning then?” “Deal.” She said fist bumping him. ~~~~~ “Rose, it’s time,” her father said shaking her awake in the morning. She opened up her eyes to see him all dressed with a wide grin on her face, she smiled back at him sitting up in bed. “Waiting downstairs for you,” he said leaving her room. She stretched out in bed before she picked the grey joggers and white top from her cupboard, packing up her red hair into a ponytail and speeding down the stairs. “Ready, set, go!” Her father said and they sped into the forest at the back of their house changing into their werewolf forms. They raced through the bushes scaring the birds away, going no as fast as the speed of light but nearly as fast as their vampire counterparts. They met in the center of the forest, breathing so heavily, their eyes sparkling with joy. Again? Her father asked breathing heavily. Rose nodded her head again and they sped through the forest again, going round and about it. Rose returned again but she didn’t see her father. She turned around in circles waiting for him but she still didn’t find him. She transformed back into her human self walking through the woods. “Daddy!!! Dad! Daddd!!” She called out but no response. Her brothers and mother met up with her with their camping equipments in hand. “What’s going on Rose?” “We were racing one each other but now I can’t find him.” “Your father’s probably messing around with you. He’ll come back soon,” “No, no, I have a very bad feeling about this mom. Something is not right,” “We’re the only ones here Rose, no one can hurt us and if they did, we would have heard his howl by now.” Just then a loud screeching howl echoed through the forest. On impulse and by adrenaline everyone transformed into their werewolf forms speeding through the forest following the loud howl they heard. Approaching the scene, they found him whimpering, bleeding so much before eventually transforming back into a human. Everyone changed back as well rushing to his side, “Dad!“ “Julian!” “Father!” “Dad!” They all called out, his neck was slit he bled out so much. “Please stay, please stay,” Rose begged as she knelt beside him holding his hand so tight with tears in her eyes. “Please stay, don’t leave us, don’t leave us just yet.” She cried. “I’ll get doctor Tomas!” Jack said hurrying into the forest, her mother gently carried up his head and placed it on her thigh as she watched him bleed out, feeling every inch of her break on the inside. “Who did this father? Who did this to you?” Rose said. She could feel the anger inside her boiling up, the rage building up on her insides. Rose looked him in the eyes, and she could see him. “The Ultima was here.” Rose said. “He came here, I warned you all but no one paid attention! Oh it’s nerdy Rose doing her thing and sucking the fun out of life! Do you all see what your carelessness and brought on us! I will so ruin his life he will wish he never met me, ever!” She said in anger. Her father squeezed her hand so tight, taking it slowly to his lips, he gently kissed on it, putting a key into her hand, his eyes shut immediately. “Father! Dad! Daddy!!!!!” Jack and Rose screamed shaking him. Her mother sat blankly as she watched her husband, breathe out his last breath, and now laying lifeless on her thighs. Stefan ran into the forest with Tomas hurrying behind him. He checked his pulse and his face fell, “I’m sorry,” he said. “He’s no more.” Tomas said stepping away from there. With that, they carried his body and set it on the pyre. All the other wolves from the neighboring villages and far places came down to pay respect to him. Rose didn’t shed a tear at the burial, her heart was fueled by hate and anger. Revenge became her breakfast, lunch and dinner. All emotions inside of her stopped working, she worked like a robot, with a turn off and on button. Months passed by later with her mother’s health declining as the months passed by. Rose went to school, with Storm not in sight. He stopped coming to school ever since the day her father died. She returned from school to find their home packed with a bunch of strangers whose faces held pity at the sight of the children. “No! No! It can’t be!” Jack screamed as he ran up stairs followed by Stefan. Rose sat on the couch in the living room, shutting her eyes and covering her ears when she heard her brothers scream in pain. She saw it coming already, she knew a day would come and their mother would leave them alone. So there she was, now an orphan with no plan whatsoever, but she knew that the day when she was going to destroy the Reeds would present itself and she would destroy them with every fiber in her.
