Chapter 6Jerico turned toward the door. A foreign female scent wafted into the room, and he growled. He recognized the scent, she’d been here before, but it was no one he knew.
“Help.”
His human sounded frightened—Teo, the voice at the back of his mind reminded him. He growled again. The female was scaring his…Teo. Jerico took a step forward so he stood between them, lowered his head, and flattened his ears.
Hugo appeared behind the female. He couldn’t make out more than the silhouette of him, but it was a scent he recognized since he was a pup, and he would never mistake it. Jerico showed teeth.
“Is he attacking?”
The female opened the door farther. “No, I don’t think so. It’s too dark to tell, but I can’t smell any additional blood, and…”
