Drink.With.Brothers

She dissembled the piece of information she had to tell me, immediately. And like a wave spiral, we both spun into reality. I looked back at the spot she was in, as she commenced directing the Omegas and Gammas. Kate gave a mischievous look from where she was positioned. She sure has some guts… “This b*tch, how could she?” Leila breathed out, fuming. I calmed her down, inhaling and exhaling. I did that at times like this because she was so fiery. Leila had an infinite overturn of growing anger. This was why I sometimes appreciated Nana Ida for raising me well. She kind of played a guardian and therapeutic role, which helped me, with the kind of wolf I had. Slowly, in a bit of awe, my eyes moved to the windows, through the fabulous curtains. The sky had already begun to darken. I also looked around the pack house. They were rounding up and most people were already beginning to retire for bed. I knew I had to do that too. But my legs kept me wandering the hallways of the pack house. I didn’t even realize how badly I missed conversing with my brothers until I sniffled trails of their scents. I made a turn, taking five steps back, before giving a soft knock on Hunter’s room door. Hayden’s room was opposite, but I chose Hunter’s because I could hear noises from his room. Besides, compared to Hayden, I was a little closer to Hunter. “Come in, Katniss!” Hunter called out. Lycans had a stronger sense of smell, thus, I wasn’t surprised he knew it was me, even without seeing my figure. I opened the door, closing it behind me. I made my way towards both of them, removing my pair of flip-flops. “The little rainbow princess is here,” Hayden teased. I scrunched my nose at him mixing the nickname both mum and dad called me together. “Really Hayden?” I groaned out. I walked to Hunter’s bed, settling on it freely. I rested my back on a pillow, yawning widely and stretching my legs out. “Hehe, really,” he retorted, with a wink. It was like most of the people around Blood Moon Pack were threats and the only places I found peace in, were few. One of those places was certainly with my brothers. They seemed to liven up wherever they were. As cool elder brothers, with an intellectual idea of science, I liked hanging around them and having them around. “Care for some?” Hunter asked, reaching for a see-through bottle. I watched as he poured through the glass. It was a mixture that resembled alcohol, thus I nodded in approval. With the insane things going on, liquor would do. “Hayden?” he directed, asking him too. “Oh, piss off,” Hayden said, standing up and grabbing a cup from him. He decanted the contents to his satisfaction. “Don’t finish it, Hayd. Katniss has to drink too, remember?” Hunter cautioned. “It’s barely even half besides isn’t she seventeen? It’s illegal to have her drink this and you know that,” Hayden mentioned. “Perhaps you were too blind to notice we turned eighteen last summer,” Leila snickered savagely. But good thing I was the only one who could hear her. “She’s eighteen, you dim wit,” he whispered out. My brother could be something at times. We were Lycans and we could practically hear the tiniest sounds from distances. Now, whispering when we weren’t more than five feet apart, felt kind of lame. “Wait, she is?” Hayden asked in a whisper, cringing his thick and dark brows in confusion. “Yeah, she already did, remember?” “Like that age where you’re suddenly allowed to do the shits you could be reprimanded for in the past?” Hayden mentioned to be sure. “Of course,” “As in eighteen? The age that allowed Mum to finally let us drive a car and do our free will?” he asked again. “Yup,” Hunter replied him. I watched as he scratched his forehead, with a look of guilt on his features. He pulled Hunter closer, reaching to talk in his ears this time. “Why didn’t you stop me from saying that, bro? Now poor Katniss thinks I suck at this elder brother thingy,” Hayden whispered. “Isn’t this just hilarious? Poor Katniss?” Leila mimicked, chuckling at the entire scene. “Chill bro, you could tell her it was a joke,” Hunter replied. Suspiciously, they both turned around to face me. “I meant since you’re now eighteen, and not seventeen like last summer, you can drink this without worrying about it being illegal,” Hayden said, re-constructing the sentence like I was some kid. “Alrighty,” I replied to him. My hands reached for my forehead in wonder at when my brothers would change. They were kind of straightforward with everything they did. This meant they didn’t mind if they were on a stage or had an audience watching them. Perhaps, this was why the pack citizens liked having them around. They could entertain anyone with merely their presence. And, all you just had to do was sit down, with a milkshake and watch their drama. Sometimes, I wondered why they weren’t girls. Perhaps, all this chattering would have suited them better. Hunter walked back before passing me the cup full of drink he had just poured. “Thanks,” I said, taking a large gulp of the entire contents the cup held. I shrunk my nose that minute. My tongue crept out to my bottom lips at the taste of the drink. I knew this certainly wasn’t alcohol. “What in the name of the Moon Goddess did I just drink?” I asked calmly, almost on the verge of freaking out at the bitter taste that crept around my tongue. “Some random mixture from the college lab,” Hunter replied. “School could be fun. Don’t know why we were all home-schooled,” he added. “And what does this random mixture entail?” I asked with caution. “Ask Hayden, he did it,” Hunter told me. “Hayden? What did we just drink?” I asked him. Hayden pointed back to Hunter. “I didn’t mix it alone? Hunter was there to help so he might recall it more. Isn’t he the smartest? Ask him,” Hayden retorted. Suddenly, my head began to lose focus on what was real and unreal. It then began to feel like my brothers were both two in one. I practically could see their faces, stretching round the room. They were making something I couldn’t quite hear. “Hun...TER? W-What d-did Hayy...DeN mix in the… drink…?” I couldn’t even recognize my voice anymore. “I had no idea…he said he knew them all…So I didn’t bother to ask,” That sounded like Hunter’s voice. Or was it?? “Focus, Katniss…It’s just a mixture and you have to focus.” My sub-consciousness told me. I looked up at the ceiling and surprisingly, I could see the Lycan King’s face. “I’m gonna kill you!” I exclaimed, seething angrily. My feet went in a standing position on Hunter’s bed. I began lunging and charging at the ceiling with my Lycan flight. Every time I went, the unnerving face of the Lycan King mocked me. It made me wonder if it was an illusion. What would he be doing on the ceiling? My claws extended, towards the curtains and I didn’t even know when I tore them down. Then, it was all gone. There were no faces at all, not the Lycan King or anyone. “I could have sworn I saw him,” I said, to my pitiful state, sitting down and hugging my knees, in my blue nightgown. An enticing scent drifted my attention away from anything sane. It invited me, it allured and appealed to me. So, tempting that it overrode my senses. I was beyond baffled that my situation had come to this. “That smells so heavenly, let’s go get it!” Leila protested, jumping uncontrollably inside. Whatever was in that mixture was so strong, because it was hard to see a drunk Lycan. I didn’t even know when my hands reached for the doorknob and my footsteps began to trail out the room. With my bare feet, soft creaks sneaked from just underneath. My tranced wolf made her way towards whatever it was. I twisted a door knob, stepping confidently inside the room the smell came from. Closing the door behind me, I purred at the stronger fragrance that highlighted more from the room. So far from being bland and unexciting. Weaving my sixth sense away, closing the doors of my senses. My head was elevated and at the same time blank. It was almost entirely like Leila was pushing me to get what she wanted. “Where…the h*ll are we…?” With a writhing of doubt spinning in, my voice trailed out. My vision became even more clouded and my environment became a bit reddish. It was evident that Leila was taking over and she was almost beginning to shift. A feeling of warmth crept around the back of my neck, making the hairs erect. “Belle...” A low-key whisper groaned out. I knew there was another presence in the room. But my head was so much hazy, thus, I wasn’t on my guard as always. “Mine.”
