His upper body was bare. No single piece of clothing was on it. Thus, my head went to the thought of if he had something underneath. I wondered if he came here to bathe too. If it was that, how was it that I hadn’t noticed him?
Dad said my hunting skills were dangerously good. It seemed like I was beginning to doubt that.
With my Lycan eyesight, I could see his twisting gaze lurking around my unclothed body. My breasts were covered by the water, though, this left a fair share of cleavage to his gaze. His mouth held a tilted frown, observing me.
I saw his eyes darken in desire, which snapped me out of my tremor.
“Here is our chance,” Leila stated. But she didn’t understand. My weapons were on the other side of the water, in my clothes. With my bare hands, there was no way I was going to defeat a powerful Lycan King.
Thus, I decided to play bait.
“Y-Your M-Majesty,” I said, in a pretentious tone. It was all for the effect, so he’d let his guard down around me, thinking I was just some weak and timid wolf.
“Katniss, I presume?” he voiced out, with his large arms still around my waist. My chest heaved in anger, while my lower hands were fisted. I was irritated with his touch.
“Y-Yes, your Maj—”
“Five seconds,” With a death scowl on his face, he muttered. I didn’t hide the confusion that appeared on my face. I wondered if he saw through me.
“Excuse me?” My eyes went in the other direction as I ran a hand through my hair. With that move, my chest brushed with his, which only infuriated me more. There was no hell’s way that my body was reacting to this infamous and cruel King. And how did he see through everything?
“You have five seconds state your true intentions, Lycan,” he added, with an infuriating gaze. “Five…Four…Three…Two… One…”
My wolf snapped the instant he finished counting. Forcefully, I ripped his grip from me, using a technique my dad taught me. With my grip firm on the two body wash containers, I swam to the shore hastily. I needed to get to my weapon.
As I swam, the water bubbled ahead roughly. As soon as my legs hit the grass, my hands went towards the clothes. I put in rapidly, making sure my glance didn’t drift from the Lycan King, who was right in the water.
With a grasp, I took the weapons, settling them in place. I moved to enter the pool back but didn’t. My eyes were bereft with shock, as I watched the area the Lycan King was.
“He’s not in there anymore,” I said to Leila, wriggling my brow in wonder at where he was. A gentle breeze suddenly oozed past my face. I squatted like a predator in search of her prey, using my night vision to scan through the bushes.
“Nothing in sight.” Leila grimaced, in frustration.
Suddenly, a hand snaked around my waist again. My body reflexly moved, with my legs climbing his neck. We were on the grass in less than a second, with his head in between my thighs.
“You didn’t tell me you liked it fast.” he smirked.
I panted at his words, before I slid my hands towards my lower trousers, bringing out the oak stake from earlier. Without wasting any more time, I moved to stab him in the heart. My hands were suddenly held, by his powerful ones. The stake was yanked off and thrown away, right inside the pool.
“A little sneaky are we, belle?” A husky tone voiced out. I was immediately yanked off his neck with his powerful hands.
“Shit.” My wolf let out, knowing he was on full guard now. The Lycan King’s weight was suddenly on mine. His shadowy eyes, which wore an intimidating gaze, studied me prudently.
I wasn’t going to stop here.
I was still going to try, even though it was pointless.
My hands reached for the pocket knife, coated with wolfbane. Swiftly, I stabbed it into the nearest place I could— his arms. I didn’t expect him to be dead. Instead, I expected him to grunt in pain. He didn’t do either.
“That’s all you have to show?” his voice taunted, with a hint of mockery on his features. An unstoppable yelp went through on my mouth, the second he slammed the hands that contained the knife on the grass. The effect made it fall motionlessly.
My breath hitched, and my eyes were directed to him, in a death glare. “Not yet, just watch, I’m going to ruin you,” I said.
He stood up, with the knife in his hands. As I lay on the floor, I stared at how huge he was. His bulky stature would intimidate any typical wolf, but not just me.
“I was with the assumption that this pack was an uninteresting one. Watching you tonight was quite entertaining,” he said. His eyes flickered down my body, raking dangerously. I became self-conscious immediately, wondering what his eyes were searching for beneath me.
A chuckle oozed past my ears, from him.
“Keep those perky breasts for me,” he said, with a smirk. My chest heaved on realization of what he had just said. I angrily stood up.
How dare he?!
I moved to confront him, again but it was too late. He already soared the high walls, over to the other side. I howled in annoyance.
…
I slept in anger, that night. While I tried to relax my nerves, whatever had just transpired with the Lycan King kept replaying in my head. Leila was pissed off that we let a chance like that go. She won’t talk to me.
My body finally surrendered to sleep, at the most awkward moment.
“Hey there, nasty!” That was Ezekiel’s voice, calling out to me. I smiled at the nickname he had given me.
“I’m off now,” he added.
“Do you have to go?” I asked him frightfully. I just wished he gave up the bet, instead of trying to prove anybody wrong.
“Yes, of course. This is what makes up life, you know— fun and lots of it,” he told me.
“I’m gonna miss you!” I said, running into his arms and hugging him.
“Remind me as to why you’re not coming with us,” he grunted out, with a frown.
“Because I’m the Alpha’s daughter. My people need me. ‘With great duty comes great r—'”
“—responsibility.” he helped me finish up. The whole place echoed with our laughter that minute. He grabbed his backpack, about to leave.
“I will be back soon, I promise. You won’t even notice that I have left,” he said, giving me a peck on my cheek. I bit my lips, watching his footsteps retreat to talk to Jennifer. After a moment, he moved to go.
“Come back soon!” I called out. He looked back waving his hands in a bye, at me.
Suddenly, my thoughts wandered to a few moments later, that same day.
“Lycan Katniss,”
“What is it?” I asked.
“There was an ambush on Ezekiel and his crew.” Flashes immediately appeared in my head at the miserable expression that had been on my face, at that moment.
“We’re afraid Ezekiel couldn’t make it back home,”
“W-What? H-How i-s this possible?” My voice broke in agony, as I asked.
“You have to calm down, please.”
“Ezzeeeeeeekieeeellll!! NooooOOOO!!!”
I felt a hand around me that instant, bringing me back to reality. From the body scent, I knew it was mum. I opened my eyes, waking up from the horrid nightmare I had just had.
“Shhh…it’s okay, darling,” she said. I held on tight to her, sobbing a lot. It was all a nightmare I wished never happened. I wanted to wake up from it all and wished Ezekiel would come back.
“You’re all safe, dear. That’s all that matters,” she added sweetly. I shut my eyes close, once more.
…
When I woke up later that day, Mum wasn’t in the room anymore. I stood up stretching, replaying everything that had occurred. Following from the night before and the nightmare that snickered in my dreams again.
“Quit the weak card and get your ass, up,” Leila said.
“Thought you weren’t talking to me anymore,” I told her. She scoffed, retreating inside. I got up from the bed, taking fresh clothes from the closet. My wardrobe wasn’t much of a typical Alpha’s daughter’s own.
Most would contain it with pretty dresses or colorful pieces of jewelry. Perhaps, a thousand pretty shoes and makeup but that wasn’t me. In places of colorful dresses, were kick-ass trousers and clothes, I used to combat. My jewelry was mostly weapons, in disguise, which I wore every day. While I used heavy badass makeup, which contained lots of lipsticks to my taste.
“You need to get going, now,” Leila reminded again. I smirked at her, taking a black sports bra and black leather trousers from my closet. I paired it with a black overcoat, which dragged down, all the way to the bridge of my legs.
Mum always complained about the way I wore black a lot, but she learned to leave me after a while. Although, it had been with the condition, that I had some dresses for the frequent balls we celebrated.
As I opened the door to my room, it creaked down the hallway. My boots hit the floor as I walked out. My weapons were in place now. One more chance like the one I got like night, and the Lycan King was dead.
I hoped that opportunity turned up again.
I thought as I went for breakfast. I had sighted Katherine with some of the Gammas. It seemed like she was lecturing them, as always. She looked seemingly different from how she looked yesterday.
Certainly not broken this time, fixed.
“Interesting,” Leila commented.
It was like she had gotten over the Lycan King’s rejection of her body. Or so I thought. She was good at masking what she felt. I came to only one conclusion— it was all a pretense.
“All pack warriors, to the Fronters, now!” Alpha Gryffon’s powerful voice echoed through the mind link. That was how words were being said, without the use of words— it was like telepathy. Being able to converse with each other like this was common with both Lycans and normal wolves.
I immediately took formation with my two brothers, Hayden and Hunter. Katherine stood just beside me while Mum was beside Dad. Together, we moved powerfully, as we went to the Fronters, paving the way for the Lycan King.
Dad did the handover and went to check the other excesses of the pack with Mum. He gave me a look, which seemed like he was telling me to behave, as he left. I folded my arms, with my eyes scanning over the Beta and Delta of Frost Kingdom.
My eyes sighted the Lycan King whose gaze swept over me mysteriously, with a tightened expression.
I paired myself with Xavier, one of the warriors. He was more like the star of the pack. That one person all the girls swooned over. I knew it always had to do with his features. Long brown hair and a face that was always imprinted with a devilish smile.
He was one of those males who was poised to be confident, with an outgoing personality and physique. Too die for abs which he wasn’t ashamed of highlighting. But he wasn’t that kind of guy.
I preferred guys with tattoos and Blood Moon Pack’s males weren’t common for that. Except from someone, at least. But he left the pack long ago.
We commenced training immediately.
“You seem to be okay, now. Thought it would take so much longer to get over Ezekiel,” he said with a cocky smile. I growled, laughing at him.
“Hostile and aggressive as always. It’s an honor to train with you, Lycan Katniss,” he said, with a cocky smile, throwing a punch at me. I ducked it immediately, with a scoff. Leila wanted to show him his place so badly.
“Really? You’ll soon be wishing you never did,” I breathed out.
“I learned a few moves, too,”
“Like this,” he said, somersaulting. My wolf studied his move carefully. I smirked when I realized his intentions. I didn’t wait for him to land, instead, I went for him. I tackled him on the floor, in a way that he was under me.
My legs were around his waist. A triumphant look plastered on my features. Leila was satisfied when she saw the astonished look on his face.
“Guess he bit more than he could chew. Daring a Lycan must be backed up with some nerves,” Leila stated. As I sat on him, I could hear the way his heart pounded rapidly. His hands were outstretched on the floor, like he had just been caught off guard.
A growl interrupted me from my next statement to him, regarding Ezekiel.
“That’d be enough training for today, Katniss.” A voice scowled out.
