Chapter 24On Friday morning, Giant called him between his first and second class to ask, “Do you want to visit Buddy for a half hour before lunch? If you meet me at the car directly after your class gets out at eleven, I can get us back in time for my noon meeting.”
“But then you won’t have lunch.”
“I’ll grab something later if I get hungry.”
It was probably inconvenient for Giant, but he really did want to see Buddy as much as possible in case…in case later he couldn’t. “Thanks.”
At Cathy’s, Giant scratched Buddy behind the ears, then absently tossed rubber chew toys for other dogs while watching as Pidge and Buddy hugged and rolled around on the floor.
When it was time to leave, Giant helped Pidge get the parts of himself he couldn’t reach with the lint roller.
