Chapter 18On Saturday, David and Helen didn’t come until ten-thirty, when Chelsea and Damaris were sulkily helping Pidge’s mother prepare lunch. “We can’t stay after lunch,” Helen announced. “We’re visiting Anita and Kent. Did I tell you her oldest daughter is engaged?”
“We’ll be out in the afternoon as well,” Uncle Alan said. “Visiting the Nolls.”
“Well, if that’s more important than spending time with your family, I’m sure I won’t try to stop you,” Grandmother said. She had delayed her lie-down to scold Helen. “But you could have let us know sooner.”
