Chapter 19They had originally planned for Giant to come at one o’clock, after Pidge’s family came back from church, which started at eleven-thirty. Pidge left his duffel of ugly tan sweaters and brown corduroys by the door, and when Giant texted that he was outside, he simply shouted up the stairs, “My ride’s here, goodbye,” and ran before anyone could finish changing and come out of their rooms. Pidge had never felt so relieved to be anywhere as he was to be in Giant’s car again. “Thank you,” he whispered, eyes shut and head pressed to Giant’s shoulder. “Thank you.
