Simon

The sight of another mans hands on my mates arms put me in over drive.

“I will not reject her and you will let her go!” Rajat was front and center but I told him not to shift.

I didn’t want Alpha Cole to see my wolf until I learned more of what I was capable of doing. I lunged for the door as Alpha Cole struck me in the face.

“My daughter is destined for greatness! She will not be mated to you or anyone from the River Pack! I have already promised Alpha Stone that she will marry Blaze and lead our packs as one!”

Picturing Blaze with his arms around Eva sent me into a rage. I struck Alpha Cole back and he stumbled to the ground. Luna June shifted and began to circle Tyler and I growling and snapping her jaws. Her grey wolf was not as large as Alpha Cole but her dark eyes showed she was ready for a fight. Tyler shifted and linked me to stay behind him. He knew I didn’t want them seeing Rajat in his full form.

I looked over at Alpha Cole as he stood back up. “This if your last chance to leave our lands without a fight. Forget Eva and forget about this war. It’s already been won. It’s only a matter of time before Alpha Stone ends you all.”

There was no way I would let them keep my mate from me but I knew I needed to back away. I decided not to say a word as I turned and walked away with Tyler and my warriors watching my back. This wasn’t the end and my mate would be coming home with me soon.

Eva

I paced my room and banged on my door demanding to be let out. I knew my fathers beta was standing guard and had no intention of opening the door.

“LET ME OUT NOW!” I screamed again but no one answered.

A few moments later my door swung open and in strolled Charlotte with a devilish grin on her face.

“ you’ve really done it this time haven’t you! You can’t honestly think mother and father will let you stay mated to Simon do you? Especially not when you are to marry Blaze next week.”

Charlotte saw the anger flash in my eyes and she laughed. “ oh daddy didn’t tell you? Oops! Blaze has already rejected his mate to prepare for your wedding next week. Once you are mated and marked you will belong to him eternally. Oh my sweat sister there are so many plans made for you.”

Before I could respond Charlotte let her self out and I heard the door lock behind her. She had to be joking, I knew my parents didn’t favor me but they wouldn’t do that! Would they? Mother was always worried about appearances and me being mated to the future Mountain Pack Alpha would certainly push us ahead in the ranks but they didn’t even consult me!

Blaze was awful! He and his siblings treated everyone horribly and like dirt under their feet! Even when we were pups Blaze would torment me and the others and remind us that Mountain Pack was the strongest.

There had to be a way out of this room and I was going to find it. I hurried over to my window and peered down. The window wasn’t locked but their were guards walking the perimeter of the pack house. I hoped that father hadn’t hurt Simon. At nightfall I would make my escape and would head straight for the place I felt safe. The river.

Simon

I knew in my heart that Eva didn’t want me to leave. I walked back and forth along the rivers edge trying to decide what to do. The only way to access her room would be the bedroom window but I was sure there were guards there as well.

“That went as expected.” Tyler said interrupting my thoughts .”I know she is your mate but is it really worth it? We could move our pack closer to the human territory and start over leaving this mess behind.”

“No. And I never want to hear words like that again. Eva will be your Luna and you will protect her as such. We must preserve the old ways. I know it’s the plan the Moon Goddess is working on. I just know it.”

Tyler nodded knowing not to press the issue again. He was my best friend and I know he trusted me. He had to trust me and I needed to trust him. We didn’t have anyone else. I was the Alpha now and Rajat and Minerva had both warned about the importance behind my mate and I being together. Nothing was going to hold me back, no matter how hard Alpha Cole tried.

Eva

The sun had set and I only had a few more hours to gather my things. I went to my closet and pulled out my back pack. I grabbed a few shirts and went to my dresser for some pants and under garments. Luckily my hearing was better then ever since I shifted and I heard the foot steps outside the door in time. I threw my back pack under my bed and jumped under the covers. My door opened just as I closed my eyes pretending to sleep.

“Eva, I need you to come with me.” I heard my mother say. I began to panic!

I didn’t want to leave my room, I needed to get my things and what if they took me to the Mountain Pack tonight!

“Leave me alone!” I growled at her. I didn’t care if I upset her anymore.

“ young lady! You may be 18 but I am still your mother and you will not disrespect me!”

“Oh yes mother dear, I wouldn’t want to upset you and ruin your plans to MARRY ME OFF!” I jumped out of bed ready to battle.

“ who told you!” I could see by the look on her face that she was furious.

“Charlotte told me everything! How can I respect you as my mother of you would do this to me! I hate you and I hate father. You will NOT keep my from my mate or my destiny!”

“Whether you respect me as your mother or not I am still your Luna and you will not speak to me in that tone!” She was breathing heavily from the shock.

“Compose yourself and get to your fathers office immediately! Come along willingly or with a guard the choice is yours!” She stormed off.

I screamed into my pillow then gathered my emotions. I would be walking myself down with my head held high. No one would be escorting me anywhere.

As I entered my fathers office I could hear whispers, we were not alone. I turned towards the fire place and saw them standing there. Alpha Stone, Luna Athena and Blaze. I stopped in my tracks.

“ thank you for joining us Eva.” Alpha Stone grinned at me.

“Its not like I had much of a choice.”

“Now now, I am aware that you know of our arrangement and I am hoping we can come to an understanding . Blaze will be a fine mate for you and your pups will rule the pack one day.”

“ what do you mean pack?” I asked “there are three packs who have leadership.”

There was an evil grin that made its way to Alpha Stones face. “You see my dear, at this time there are three packs left untouched by the humans and their world. But with the River Pack no longer having an Alpha that gives us the chance to merge our packs and be a great force. As one large pack united we can retake what’s ours. Any werewolves who want to join along the way, great! Those who don’t will be disposed of.”

Reality set in, so that’s what he wants. World domination. And he basically plans on turning me into a breading machine for his son. I don’t think so!

“ You seem to be misinformed Alpha Stone. The River Pack does have an Alpha. According to law you would have to challenge him before deciding they are no longer a pack.” I knew I struck a nerve.

Alpha Stone and Blaze looked at each other before turning to my father.

“What do you mean The River Pack has an Alpha? Alpha Leon is dead and his only heir was Simon. You all saw he couldn’t shift, you must shift before becoming Alpha.” Alpha Stone was clearly getting upset and his plans changing as he spoke.

My father moved uneasily in his chair before addressing the issue. “We did find out earlier this evening that Simon has become Alpha. He must’ve shifted after the ceremony.”

I grinned watching them all squirm at the idea. I was the only who knew what Simons wolf looked like and there was something different about him, they would see.

“ Alpha Stone, Luna Athena I will not marry your son. Simon is my mate and I will not reject him.”

There was a long silence before Alpha Stone spoke. “ I don’t want to force you in to mating and being marked by my son but I will. And you know what happens if you are marked by someone other then your mate. The pain will be with you all of your days unless you reject Simon. But know this little girl… it makes no difference to me.”

I looked over at Blaze who was starting at me like I was a piece of meat. He would enjoy abusing me and I knew it.

Simon

We made our way back to the pack house careful to avoid the guards on duty. I peered through the front window and saw it was empty. Tyler and the others made their way to the back of the house by the Alphas study. I got a link from Tyler

“She’s here, but be careful she’s not alone.”

I made my way there and peered in the window. My blood boiled when I saw Blaze looking at my mate like he was going to take her right there. I had to get her out tonight.

We waited at the forests edge until all the lights in the pack house were dim. It was safe to say everyone had gone back to bed and I was focused on Evas bedroom window. Suddenly I noticed it crack open and Eva slipped out on to the roof. She made her way down to the ground like she had snuck out a time or two before. I couldn’t help but smile to myself , I couldn’t wait to learn more about her.

I thought she would head straight for us but she didn’t. She headed towards the river. I linked Tyler to stay and watch the pack house for the night while I went and got my mate.

Eva

I had been sent to bed right after meeting with Alpha Stone. Little did they know what was exactly what I was hoping for so I could gather my things. How stupid where they not to have someone guard the window? Idiots.

I carefully opened the window without making a sound. I had done this before and knew right where to step once I got out. Once my feet hit the ground I headed straight for the river. I knew the water would lead me home.

I reached the river and began to sniff around. Maybe just maybe Simon was still here. Then a familiar scent filled the air around me. The salty ocean and drift wood. I turned around to see Simon standing there. We gazed in to each others eyes. He took a step towards me and stopped. I could tell he was waiting for my permission . I ran to him and leaped in to his arms. I could feel the warmth raging between us that only happens between mates. I gazed up in to his soft eyes and he stroked my cheek.

“Hello my sweat mate.” He whispered to me.

“Hello.” I answered back. I knew I was blushing. I had never felt desire like this before. I had known him my entire life yet he was a stranger. Being with him already made me feel safe. It felt right.

While we held each other I could feel his muscles through his shirt and couldn’t help but notice how fit he was.

He grabbed my chin and leaned down for a kiss stopping just in front of my lips.

“May I?”

“Yes”

He kissed me softly, then deeply. My entire body felt set on fire and I was burning like the sun.

He pulled back. “ I want to take things slow. If we are to be mated we must respect each other and I will never push you beyond what you are ready for.”

I could already tell he was so different from Blaze. Simon was going to take care of me and respect our partner ship.

“Thank you, but we really should go, it won’t be long before they realize I’m gone.” I pulled away from him even though I truly didn’t want to.

“ I agree he said, follow me. We will head back to my pack house right away. It will be safe there for awhile. My beta is staying back to keep an eye things for now.”

Before we could say much else he grabbed my hand and we began to run along the rivers edge.
