CHAPTER 51
“I’ll be back real soon, all right?” Susannah leaned over and kissed her sister on the forehead.
Megan stepped up to the hospital bed too even though she felt awkward talking to Kitty in such a cheerful voice when the situation was so serious. “I’m glad you’ll be going to Seattle. Those therapy dogs sound really cute.”
Kitty gave a tentative kick, which Megan hoped meant that she’d said the right thing.
Scott wrapped one arm around Megan and one around his wife. “You two need anything else?”
“No, we’ll be fine,” Megan answered. She and Susannah were about to run home and get packed for Seattle. It would take a while for Kitty’s papers to come through and the transport crew to arrive.
“Well let me know if you need anything,” Scott said. “I’ll have my phone on.”
