CHAPTER FOURThe following morning me and Beep made it to the back porch before the earth began to warm. It was Saturday and a glorious sun had crept above the horizon to send feelers of colored light through the treetops to the east. Soon enough the warming air would bake the dew from the grass. But that had not happened, not yet, and I was aboard Beepah’s shoulders for a ride above the heavy grass that would keep my pajamas dry. We didn’t wake up Zach.
