“So” Mildred said, as I sat down next to her at the wake.
“So” I mimicked, releasing a long breath. This is awkward.
“You want to know what happened between your mother and me?” she asked as I shrugged my shoulders. I do, but if Mildred doesn’t want to tell me, she doesn’t have to. “For me to answer that, I need to tell you about my story.”
“Sarah said, she thinks you went through something similar to what she did” I said as Mildred nodded her head slightly, indicating it was.
