6 - Wolf

Elouise’s POV Monday 17th September Dear Diary What can I tell you? Today has been a whirlwind of emotions. Victoria told everyone what happened to me over the summer with a little twist to reality, like she always did. From the moment Chelsea and I walked into the cafeteria, guys were walking up asking how much I would charge for my services. I ran from the area in tears, but it didn’t stop; they were harassing me wherever I went. That was until Bradon found out, and he went off his rocker. He attacked Jacob for approaching me and started to choke Victoria for telling people in the first place. She denied it, of course; but who else would know what had happened? Bradon stood in front of everyone and gave an order for people not to talk badly about me and the school had switched their opinion of me. Everyone except Victoria, but that was never going to change. People are talking about what has happened, and although he gave an excuse for why he did it, which wasn’t a lie, it wasn’t the full truth either and no-one really believes it. I don’t know whether I like that or not. We’ll see how long it lasts before the full truth comes out. Speaking of Victoria, everywhere I went she was there, making snide remarks and trying to catch Bradon and me on her phone. The remarks weren't mean and nasty like she normally does, but she was hinting I must be sleeping with Bradon for him to be protecting me like he is. She wanted to prove it, but we hadn’t been together all day, and she was slowly getting frustrated with it. Bradon had been a bit jumpy all day too. He blamed it on Oscar, but I knew it was him. We finally met up after dinner, later than we anticipated. I told Chelsea I needed to clear my head and was going for a walk and mind linked Bradon to meet at our tree. He snuck me back to his dorm room. It’s twice as big as Chelsea’s and my room, and he lives by himself. Did I also mention he has a bathroom? No more showering with a group of girls in cubicles, if Bradon will let me. It’s hard to hide... I would prefer to be alone when I need to shower. Anyway, while I was in Bradon’s dorm, he dropped the L word. Not love, don’t get your hopes up. Luna! He called me his Luna. I was shocked when he said if it wasn’t me, there would be no-one. We’ve been getting closer, and I’ve been hearing the voice more and more telling me to trust him. I know he’s my mate, but I’m still waiting for the other shoe to drop. I am starting to fall for him and I don’t want to get hurt when he finally rejects me. I know, he said he wouldn’t, but how could he want someone like me? I dropped my guard for a moment when Aaron started beating down the door. I told Bradon to tell him everything and confirmed I knew I was his Luna. I caught myself though and asked Bradon when he rejected me, if we could do it in private before I left. Now I’m here, telling you what happened. “Mate loves us” the voice said as I shrugged my shoulders. I’m sure he wouldn’t have done what he did today if he didn’t feel something for me. Pity comes to mind, but I’m not sure what it is. “It wasn’t pity. He loves us.” “How can you be so sure?” I asked as I saw something coming forward in my mind and gasped. “Are you, my wolf?” “Hello Elouise, I’m Amber” she said, a big grin on her light tan-cream-colored face. “You need to go outside.” “What?” I gasped as she moved forward again. “You can’t shift in here” she said as I gasped again. I forgot about the first shift happening when the moon reaches its peak after she comes to me. “Moon is almost here. Call mate, he will help you.” I got up from my desk when I doubled over with the first sharp pain of the shift. “Bradon; help” I whispered through a mind link, clutching onto my stomach. “Elly?” he panicked. “What’s wrong? What’s happened? Where are you?” Now’s not the time for his rambling. “Wolf” was the only thing I could say before I stumbled to the floor outside my dorm room, letting out a blood-curdling scream. The next minute, someone picked me up, and we were running out the door. “Don’t worry, Luna. Bradon is meeting us outside” he whispered as I blinked a few times through the pain to see who was carrying me. I spotted his sandy-blonde hair as I registered who it was; “Aaron?” I asked as another sharp pain hit my torso and I screamed in agony, curling myself into a ball in his arms. “She’s here, Brae” Aaron yelled as I felt myself being removed from Aaron’s arms. I breathed a sigh of relief from the pain while Bradon carried me through the trees behind the dormitories. “Will she be, OK?” “First shift is always tough”, Bradon said as he placed me on the ground, bending down beside me when the aches and sharp stabbings started again, making me scream. “Something for you to look forward to.” “Don’t fight it, babe…” “I told you not to call me that” I seethed through gritted teeth as more sharp jabs that felt like 50 silver blades stabbed me repeatedly in one spot on my lower back. “Make it stop.” “I can’t, Elly. You need to let it happen”, Bradon cooed softly as more pain focused on my arms and legs, like they were being ripped apart, and I was breaking every bone in the process. “You’re doing great. It’s almost complete.” “Elly?” I heard Chelsea’s voice as I closed my eyes tight. I should have known we would have drawn attention. My screams would have told everyone what was happening, and they would have come to watch. Everyone loves to watch someone’s first shift, especially if they don’t get any warning like mine was. “Get everyone away”, Aaron yelled as I heard someone ushering the crowd away. “I… Want… Chelsea… To… Stay” I managed to whisper through bated breaths as the voice called her back and another pain slapped me across my face and I screamed out again. The next moment, I felt like I had jumped into the air, twisting and landing on my feet as the pain stopped suddenly. “Oh, my goddess, she’s beautiful. I don’t think I'd seen a yellow wolf before”, Chelsea said as I turned my head to look at her. What is she talking about? “She’s talking about me” Amber said, quite pleased with herself. I looked down at my feet and sure enough they were paws. Light tan, almost cream-colored paws, not yellow, although I could see the confusion. “Do you want to go for a run?” Bradon asked, walking up beside us. Amber nodded her head as Bradon started to undress, causing her to growl. He bent down to her ear; “Jealous little wolfy. I like that” he whispered before going behind the tree and a red wolf came trotting out a moment later. Is that Oscar? “Mate” Amber cooed as the pair of them took off through the trees. I glanced out through her eyes and the clarity was mind-boggling. I’m not sure how fast they were running, but I could see every last detail. From the small pebbles on the ground to the owl stalking a mouse from the sky. “I’m sorry I couldn’t take the pain away”, Bradon’s mind link came through as I jumped. Well, my conscious jumped because I was startled by his voice. I didn’t know we could mind link while we were in our wolf form, which is stupid, because how else were we able to communicate with each other if we needed to? “Elly?” “Sorry, I was taking in the experience” I answered, glancing out of Amber’s eyes again as she leaped over a log. “We won’t be able to stay out too long. Your wolf…” “Amber” I said, cutting him off as he chuckled in my mind. “Fitting, considering her color” he laughed as I rolled my eyes inwardly. “Anyway, she will be tired from the first shift and so will you. I mind linked Aaron; Chelsea’s bringing you some more clothes.” “Why is she…” “Do you want to walk through the halls naked?” Bradon asked, cutting me off as I snorted at him. I can imagine the smirk on his face from here. “I won’t mind, but I’m sure anyone who sees you won’t be pleased I had to rip their eyeballs from their sockets.” “And he called me jealous”, Amber cackled as she continued to run beside Oscar. We reached the edge of the trees as Chelsea walked forward and Amber took my clothes in her mouth before walking behind the same tree Bradon was standing behind. How am I meant to shift back? Amber didn’t say anything, she moved back into my mind, pushing my consciousness forward as she went, and I spun in the air, landing on my ass, on the ground. “You could have warned me”, I seethed as she cackled before curling into a ball and going to sleep. “The questions are starting again” Aaron said on the other side of the tree as I stood up and started to dress. I could feel Bradon’s stare on my back as I quickly put my shirt over my head. “What would you like me to tell them?” “The truth” I whispered, taking a deep breath. It’s not as if people aren’t going to figure out what was happening. “We can’t hide it any longer.” “Hide what?” Chelsea asked as I pulled my purple sweatpants over my bottom and walked out from behind the tree. “I’m Bradon’s mate” I said as Bradon walked out from behind the tree and put his arms around me. “And you know?” she asked, a little hurt I didn’t tell her. “Amber confirmed it, the moment we shifted” I said as she narrowed her blue eyes at me, trying to figure out how long I knew. “I didn’t want to jump to conclusions until I knew for sure.” “Yeah… Right” she murmured as I moved forward and put my arms around her. “You are the second person to officially know” I said as she glanced at me before beaming a smile. Telling people wasn’t as difficult as I thought it would be. “And Aaron was only told before my shift.” I wouldn’t tell her it was a few hours before, because I didn't want to burst her bubble. I turned to look at Bradon as he stopped frowning and beamed a toothy smile; “Shall we go, my Luna?” he asked as I nodded my head, trying not to feel shocked at him, calling me Luna again. I still haven’t gotten my head around everything, yet. He took me by the hand and the four of us walked back to our dormitories.
