Fate

As expected, John saw the woman taking a rest on her patient's bed according to the nurse's directions. Henry was already there as he already knew the details of Holly's admission, and as he arrived at the hospital, he already knew where exactly to go, unlike John Richards, who had to ask the information from the nurses' station to find the person he was here for. "How do you feel, Miss Kim?', John formally greeted the woman who was surprised and suddenly felt embarrassed to see the guy who was supposed to be her lunch date, silently admitting he is indeed more handsome than the photo she was shown when the Chairman asked her to meet her grandson for a blind date. "I am so sorry my grandma brought you into this unfortunate situation. My name is John Richards." John extended his right arm for a handshake which Holly shyly accepted and shook lightly. "I know you from Chairman, but don't worry, I know it was just an accident. I was just in the wrong at the wrong time. I should take it as a silent warning of fate," Holly replied sensibly. Although this guy is a good catch, as anyone would say, she actually has a man she loves, but her family disapproves. Being a daughter from a prominent family, they want her to marry a man with equal if not greater status in society. "Thank you for understanding. I know my grandma is anxious about my private affairs, but I agree with your conclusion about these events. If, in any other way, I get the chance to return this favor of understanding from you, please don't hesitate to let me know. I will do anything I can," John being upright as he is, expressed his gratitude to Holly, who didn't give him displeasure, unlike the previous women his grandma tried to match with him. He had a slight discernment that the woman is just in the same position as him, being pressed hard to get into marriage set up by the elders in the family. "If you need anything, please let Henry know. He is my secretary, a reliable one at it". With a slight smile, John nodded and gestured to present Henry to Holly. Holly was taken aback seeing a gentle look of John, showing how kind of a boss he is to his subordinates while Henry stood with his chest out to prove the truth in his boss' words, with a gleeful face knowing his boss just praised him. Although it wasn't the first time his boss had verbally expressed his compliments, Henry is always happy to hear these praises from his so kind and humble boss.  "Rest assured, Mr. Richards. I will make sure Miss Kim gets the best of service in the hospital," Henry replied snappily.  "Thank you, Mr. Richards, and thank you, Mr. Henry, but you don't need to do that, my family will be here in a while as I was just able to call them when I woke a few minutes before you came," Holly politely declined, adding, "it was nice knowing you." "I see, so I won't insist. But Henry should stay here until your family arrives. That way, my grandma and I will find peace knowing you are being attended to properly. I'll go ahead first, get well soon, and nice meeting you, too, Miss Kim", John said then, after a slight nod of goodbye, he left. There are two ways to get in and out of the emergency station. John was close to one of them, simply looking around his eyes were hoping to see that lovely face a while ago, from where he was, he couldn't find what he was looking for so he decided to walk back to the door farther wishing along the way he would get the chance to glance at the lady doctor. Until he was at the door, he didn't see her. But as he steps out of the emergency room door, he saw her in her serious face while attending to a patient arriving through an ambulance. She asked the medic personnel questions while checking on the patients running along with the stretchers to the emergency room. He gave way and opened the other half of the door to help them get through all along, not taking his eyes off Doctor Diane's face. They say men are most handsome when they are seriously working. He realized women are more fascinating when in serious work mode, and Doctor Diane was the second on his mental list, if there is any, for the first one is his grandma. She is a beast in the business world but a fairy grandmother to John. Standing on the side looking at Diane just like everyone else except for the medical team and hospital employees, John subtly admires this little woman with a strong determination to save that patient's life. She is so energetic and enthusiastic that her face shows her passion for her oath taken job. But just as the other onlookers, John took a last glance towards the direction where the patient was brought to see that Diane was almost invisible, being surrounded by the other crews, then he left. Although he admired the woman, he didn't take it too seriously, as frankly speaking. It wasn't the first time he saw a beautiful and admirable woman. He believes in fate, or others call it destiny. But for John, a day is just another day, it comes, and it ends then a new day comes again, people are quite the same, as his mom came and she left, so is everyone, family or not, life comes, and ends and a new comes again. Just as today is Monday, tomorrow is Tuesday, though they both days, they have their differences, and we have to accept and adjust to it ourselves because they won't change themselves for us. So if a person comes to his life, met or just saw, if there is a chance to get to know that person deeper it would be good, if not and just saw from a distance, at least there was a chance to see that person no need to fuss and just move forward. He has never entertained romantic thoughts all through his life, though he is financially stable, no, actually beyond stable. He had never been confident because he always thought when he was young, he didn't have the strong leg to even just take a girl to walk. What if a situation came and he needed to defend are help the girl with physical strength? It would be embarrassing to be helpless in front of a girl. The worst scenario is instead of him saving a girl, a girl saving him. 'Ugh! how pathetic would he be, right?' For more than twenty years, he had been undergoing medical treatment for his legs. His left knee was badly hurt when he was just 6 years old. He fell on the stone stairs of the yard at a temple when his whole family went to pay respects to their ancestors during that year. Good thing they are financially boundless for the treatment because for ordinary people, the only choice was to amputate the leg as though the treatment is effective, it was slow and extremely painful as they try to lessen the usage of anesthetics to avoid more damage on the young boy's body.
