The window for communication and consciousness transfer was shrinking, and with it, his own time aboard Droste as well. Mahi’s and his own transfer had included the computer wizardry that guaranteed ASHLEY would defrost the receiving Slate, meaning there was likely no way to prevent Kim from doing the same. Turning off the communication equipment to prevent Kim’s signal reaching the ship would sentence Silver to the same fate as Mahi.
