Chapter 15

To say that she wasn't nervous was an understatement. Licht drummed her fingers across the marbled top of the kitchen island matching the rhythmic banging of the pots. Her feet jumping up and down as she tried to level her erratic heartbeat. The three of them are now in the kitchen with Maris cooking their lunch. She had told them that she had mind linked the two to come back inside the mansion. Knowing that they can communicate telepathically still had them in awe, thinking how convenient that is. But now that they are waiting for them, she can't help this nervousness that spread along her mind. She still has no idea how she will confront Lark, to be honest her earlier bravado is dwindling. Are they really doing the right thing? Licht shook her head, she already decided and she should stick to it. Still... Through her internal struggles, a hand suddenly touched her shoulder bringing her back to the present. She turned to her side to see Clara looking at her in worry. "You'll bruise your lips if you keep biting it that hard, Licht." She told her and she gasp, she didn't know that she had been biting her lips so hard. She gulped, taking a deep breath to calm herself. She's worrying herself to insanity. "It's okay Licht, calm down." Clara told her with a smile albeit a little forced. It seems she wasn't the only one scared of seeing the two men again. It's true that they've decided to stay but they will be lying if they say that they are not scared. But she still smiled back while nodding her head, patting the other girl's hand as if to comfort her as well. The clattering of utensils grew in the background and the two turned ahead to watch Maris work from one corner to another as she prepared the food. Licht was itching to help the older woman but they were heavily reprimanded earlier when they offered their help. Seriously though, the work would had been the perfect distraction right now. Her nerves are frazzled and she's close to rooting the hair from her head at the uneasiness she felt. "We're not making the wrong decision right? We can still run?" She whispered to Clara when she can't take the nerves of waiting anymore. It was pathetic but she's being a coward but she can't help it. They're thinking of staying with werewolves! Maybe they're jumping on this too quickly. Clara's eyes rounded, she haven't seen her friend this disgruntled before. Normally she's the coward one and Licht was the brave one but it seems that the girl was spiraling. "We're not Licht, calm down." She tried again, turning fully to take both of her hands. "She's right Licht, running away will only result in more violent reaction. Trust me." A voice suddenly spoke above them, startling the both of them. Licht clutched her chest ready to scold the person that surprised them only for her breath to be caught as she stared at the person. Lark smiled at her although it doesn't reach his eyes, his presence was darkening and his posture taut. Licht can only gape at him, her eyes unblinking as her brain was short-circuiting. "Now boys, don't scare them." She heard Maris tell him and she finally remembered how to breathe again. A cup of tea was pushed in front of her care of Maris, telling her that it would calm her nerves and she sipped it like it was a lifeline. She didn't mind the burn, sighing as the soothing liquid wet her parched mouth. The tea did sooth some of her nerves and gave her the perfect excuse not to speak because she can't right now. "Can we talk to you separately?" Lark asked, his earlier dark look replaced by a charming smile that almost caused her to choke. That question alarmed Licht, her head quickly searching for Clara who was as quiet as her. Her friend only nodded her head while giving her a reassuring smile. No, no, no! She cannot do this. She can't be alone with him at the moment. She tried to clutch Clara's hand when she moved to follow John to another room but the girl simply shook her head. "You can do it Licht, you're brave." She told her before she left with John. Nope. She's not brave. She can't. She was so nervous that she had triggered herself to hyperventilate. Her breath came in pants and she had a hard time taking in air. She was panicking and her vision was staring to darken. When she was certain that she will pass out from lack of air. Two hands touched her cheek, forcing her to look up to the dark eyes that captivated her. Now she's losing breath for a different reason. "Calm down Licht. Take a deep breath." He commanded and she obeyed, taking deep mouthfuls of air. He watched her steady her breathing and she can't help but be lost in those eyes. It was all she could see, unconsciously her hands came up to cover his own and she leaned into them, loving the sparks that were traveling from the tips of her fingers all the way to her body. When she was calmed down, she finally noticed how close he was. She could feel his breath on top of her mouth. He was a few inches from her face and that caused a sudden rush of blood to her cheeks. She woke up from her stupor and took his hands away from her face, taking a few distance away from his as well. He was clouding her mind and she needed a clear head for this. "Thank you." She mumbled blushing, "I'm fine now." She told him, averting her eyes away. That's when she noticed that even Maris left them alone. She took a gulp, her fingers twiddling on her lap. You can do this Licht, she told herself while taking deep breaths. She turned towards Lark who was simply leaning on the wall, his arms crossed in front of his chest that was unclothed. Why didn't she noticed that earlier? Oh right, she was having a panic attack. The air was once again got stuck in her lungs. This man is trying to kill her. She swear. "Ah...uhm..." She tried, doing her best not to stare at his perfect body. Like those well-defined abs and prominent collarbone that she suddenly wanted to bite. Wait, what? Her mind was spiraling again while her mouth opened and closed but nothing came out. Seriously, this isn't fair. She was making a life changing decision and the man was seducing her. This is his tactic she was sure of it. And it was so damn effective as dirty thoughts swam in her mind and a blush burned her cheeks. She also didn't miss the smug smirk littering his face. "Can you uhm, get some clothes or something." She said turning away from him again. She looked pathetic enough to add nosebleed on top of it. That would be mortifying. Lark shrugged, "I don't think that's needed. It is quite hot as well." He smirked loving the way his mate reacted. He was so scared earlier when he heard that she wanted to run away again and he was so thankful to John's mate for talking her out of it. He can't promise that he would not track her down and lock her up if needed to. But thankfully he didn't have to do the extreme. Now to make sure he doesn't scare her more, he needed to show her his good sides. And of course that includes his sexy body so why not use it to his advantage. Clearly it was working wonders to his mate's mental disposition. The shivers that run down his spine was electrifying when he smelled her arousal. She definitely likes what she saw but there was still that spike of uncertainty that is chipping at his confidence. When Licht refused to look at him again, he sighed uncurling his arms and kneeling beside her. He took her hands in his, loving the sparks that flies whenever they touch. He rubbed small circles along the back of her hand, willing her to look at him again. "Please don't be scared of me Licht." He told her, a pang of sadness spilling to his tone at the thought of her fear-filled eyes from earlier. He noted the way she stiffened when he said that and his heart hammered behind his ribs taking that as a bad sign. Until she blew out a breath and turned to look at him again. Lark's heart melted at the tired look on her violet eyes and he reached one hand to caress her cheek and rub the dark circles beneath her eyes. His wolf whined at the back of his head, not liking the way they're taking a toll at their mate. "I'm so sorry Licht that you found out that way, I really didn't wish to tell you that way but I was scared that you'll leave me." He told her genuinely, his hands still rubbing her own. Feeling her leaning her face to him gave him a boost of confidence. "Let me show you that you made the right decision by staying with me." He said while standing up to take the seat next to her. "I can't live without you Licht. I know you're scared of wolves but I swear I would never hurt you. I will never let anything harm you." He said and she nodded her head, biting her lips as she took in his words. "Okay." She said, staring at him directly, a small smile blossoming on her face that made his heart soar. He can't help the grin that spread on his lips and he took her in his arms and twirled her in the air making her squeal. "Thank you my mate. You made me so happy." He said while putting her down to the ground, both his hands on her hips. The happiness that radiated from him was visible and even his wolf was howling in his mind. A cough took him out of his happy place to see his mate's face burning red. "Uhm, can you let go of me for a second?" She asked him, averting her eyes again. His wolf whimpered and he frowned. She accepted him right? Licht caught his pitiful look and her blush intensified. "I'm, this is too much for me yet." She told him while pointing all over his body and how close they were, he finally get it. He chuckled at her innocence but decided to let her go, albeit hesitantly. He would do anything to make sure she will not think of leaving again. He watched her take a seat on one of the chair on the island counter again, her beautiful eyes not leaving his. She was fidgeting in her seat and scratching her neck. "Is something wrong mate?" He asked her in worry. She cleared her throat and looked at him helplessly. He waited for her to speak again, he noted that the shyness was a good look on her. Sure he loves the courage she always presented before but seeing her like this to him was nice. He coaxed her into speaking, taking the chair beside her again. She finally relented when he took her hands to his and projected his calm to her. He can do it without touching her once they're fully mated. For now he can only affect her moods by touching her directly. "So, what is going to happen after this? I hardly know anything about this." She told him her worry and he nodded his head. He has so much to tell her. And not to mention, he needs to tell his pack. But maybe that would be too much. Just learning about werewolves is tiring enough. "Don't worry about that yet. You can ask me anything, anytime, don't bombard yourself with these." He reassured her. Besides, what they should be talking about first is about them. He can't let her sleep on their small quarters from now on. Now how to tell her that without alarming her was the real challenge. Licht nodded her head. "Okay, but what do we do now?" She asked, her eyes fluttering as she took in his body once more. She wasn't sure if she can take much more of his sexiness but if she's his mate then that means they have to do things. Right? "What does being mates entails exactly?" She suddenly blurted out, now that she thought about it, she had no idea what being mates mean except that it pertains to being soul mates. She made the wrong decision of looking at him when she saw the mischievous smile on his lips and the glint on his eyes. She can feel her heart bang wildly on her chest. Now that face did not look good. "What is it? Is it going to hurt?" She asked shyly, my goodness, the images that's passing her mind was enough to make her pass out. Lark almost chuckled at how cute his mate looks. Now he wished he can look inside a human's head like he can with his pack because based on the pink that stained her face, she was thinking some delicious things. "Well, not really." He answered her teasingly loving the way her face looked so adorable worrying about it. He grinned again. "Do you want to know how it works?" He asked her and she nodded eagerly. Even as far as clutching at his arms. He schooled his expression to be serious as he leaned into her as if he was telling her some secret and she mirrored him, curiosity burning in her eyes. "First I have to mark you." He said seriously waiting for her reaction. "Mark? Like pissing?" She asked horrified and he couldn't help the laugh that burst through. Licht looked at her perplexed. "What? Isn't that what wild animals do?" She asked confused while he clutched his side from laughing too much. "I'm sorry." He squeezed out while laughing, coughing a little when he saw Licht pouting. He cleared his throat to stop laughing but the smile was still there. He bit his lips as he stared at her pouting lips, it was making him want to bite it but he ignored his craving of her. "No love, I won't piss on you. I will mark you by biting." He told her and she was much horrified than before. "Bite me?" She said, her eyes widening. He grinned leaning to her again. "Yup, right here." He said, touching the place where her shoulder meet her neck. A sharp electric current flowed through her directly towards he core when he touched that part that made her moan. She clasped her mouth with her hand. Mortified at the sound she made. "What was that?" She asked him alarmed. She tried to touch it but nothing happened. He simply smirked at her, that sly look back at his face. "That my dear, is where I'll bite you. It's also sensitive to my touch only." She gasped at that. "That's unfair." She exclaimed and he only chuckled. "Love it's not unfair. It's to make sure that it won't hurt when I mark you. If I wasn't your mate, it will hurt you. And you can do that as well." He explained and she nodded her head. "Wait, I need to bite you too?" She asked aghast, he nodded. "It's to show other werewolves that you belong to me and I belong to you. That way, no one will touch you." He said and she absorbed that information. "Okay, this is insane. So if you bite me were mates, that's it?" She asked again, her brain working overtime to process all of this. She was so absorbed in her thoughts that she missed that ravenous look that passed his eyes as he stared at her. Only when the hair on her nape stood up did she notice the sudden silence. Looking up she trembled at the lust that swirled at his dark eyes. "After marking comes the actual mating my dear." He said to her, his hands caging her on her seat. His onyx eyes held her lavender one and it made her hitch her breath. "I can't wait, mate." His voice became deep and husky and her body responded to it like a flower enticing a bee. The predatory glint wasn't lost to her and a shiver traveled from her spine numbing her whole body. He pressed his lips on the juncture between her neck and shoulder, licking it before biting it softly making her moan. Her legs clenching at the warmth that blossomed in her lower stomach. Then just like that he stood up and distanced himself leaving her bereft and wanting. She looked at him dazed and confused before snapping to reality. This man! She glared daggers at him while he just smirked at her smugly. Oh he thinks he can just do that to her huh. Just wait, she will tease him so hard a cold shower won't be enough. "Now my dear mate, let's go to the dining room to eat. You have a lot of packing to do." He told her while offering his arms to her. She took it on instinct, confused at his words. "What do you mean?" "Well, from now on you'll be sleeping with me sweetheart." He said, smiling at her charmingly. She nodded her head in understanding before it completely dawn on her the implication of his words. "WHAT?!" ------------- A/N: Hey Long time no upload.
